Versions

  • 1.1.2

In some cases, the sign-up flow didn't go quite right; additionally, a bug has been fixed that prevented you from always accepting pool invitations.

  • 1.2.0

You can now join pools by scanning a QR code, and we added a brand new rankings screen. We also renamed the pool types and made several improvements to the sign-up flow and overall stability. Thanks in part to Arjan's efforts.

  • 1.2.1

The live screen now supports multiple matches at the same time and a new pool ranking system has been added. You can also manage sub-pools from the pool screen. Additionally, bugs have been fixed around score display and the doubler, thanks to Arjan's sharp eye.

  • 1.2.10

Bug fixes and visual polish. With contributions from Arjan (and, fine, the rest of the team), Penal keeps getting better.

  • 1.2.11

A small but tidy update. The score selector has been refined so entering your predictions feels a touch smoother, and we've sharpened up a handful of design details across the app. Subtle stuff, but it adds up. Cheers to Arjan for spotting the bits we'd otherwise have missed.

  • 1.2.12

The matchday selector above the matches is back on its best behaviour — moving between rounds feels smoother and the taps actually land. Sorted out a few small navigation hiccups along the way, and the doublers no longer keep you waiting around. As ever, Arjan kept an eye on the rough bits so we could polish them out.

  • 1.2.2

Added more translations and pools can now be created in multiple languages. Match cards now more clearly show your prediction and the result, and the points calculation has been improved. Various bugs related to pool upgrades and rankings have been fixed. Arjan has been quietly tinkering away again.

  • 1.2.5

Performance improvements and small design tweaks. Thanks in part to Arjan's efforts, together we keep making Penal better!

Performance improvements and small design tweaks. Thanks in part to Arjan's efforts, together we keep making Penal better!

  • 1.3.1

Prof and Club members can now chat live during matches, and the scoreboard can be cast to a telly via Google Cast — ideal for the pub or clubhouse. We'll keep refining these features all the way to next summer's big tournament, and there's a heap of smaller improvements and optimisations in this one too. Arjan's fingerprints are all over it.

  • 1.3.10

We squashed a bug where the bonus question wouldn't display correctly during live matches when opened from the Matches tab. A small but persistent annoyance, finally gone. Thanks as always to Arjan for spotting the little things the rest of us miss.

  • 1.3.11

A handful of small fixes and refinements to make the app feel a bit smoother in daily use. Nothing flashy, just the quiet kind of polish that adds up over time. Arjan's sharp eye caught a few of the rougher edges along the way.

  • 1.3.12

Fixed a bug where predictions occasionally didn't show up on the Live screen (thanks Harco for the heads-up). The chat panel now remembers its state, so it stays expanded, minimized or closed just the way you left it. We also gave the emoji reactions a polish and squashed a few smaller bugs along the way. Arjan kept a sharp eye on the details, as always.

  • 1.3.13

This update fixes a few quirks in the points calculation, so your score now reflects exactly what you earned. Avatars in chat are tappable too, making it easier to jump straight to someone's profile. Plus the usual round of small fixes scattered throughout. Arjan, as always, kept a sharp eye on the details.

  • 1.3.14

A bundle of quality-of-life improvements across the app. Pro and Club pools now get a proper export feature, you can react to messages with emoji, and a stack of small bugs has been quietly fixed along the way. As always, Arjan kept poking holes until the rough edges disappeared.

  • 1.3.15

A handful of small bugfixes and under-the-hood improvements to keep things running smoothly. Nothing flashy this round, just a calmer, snappier Penal. With a quiet assist from Arjan, as always.

  • 1.3.2

Thanks to Cristopher from Costa Rica we squashed a tricky timezone bug that was throwing off match times for some of you. We've also added reminders for the bonus questions so you'll never miss your shot at extra points, plus proper support for postponed, cancelled and interrupted matches. None of this would shine quite the same without Arjan keeping a sharp eye on every detail.

  • 1.3.3

The Live screen got a fresh round of updates and the Cast feature now works smoother than before, so following matches on the big screen feels more natural. On top of that, plenty of optimizations and bugfixes under the hood to keep everything running calmly. As always with a quiet nod to Arjan, whose patience keeps shaping the small details.

  • 1.3.5

This release brings a wave of subtle refinements across the app: cleaner design details, smoother interactions and a stack of small fixes that together make Penal feel just that little bit sharper. Nothing flashy, just steady polish. As always, Arjan kept a watchful eye on the details — and the app is better for it.

  • 1.3.9

A round of careful refinements throughout the app, plus finer-grained control over your push notifications. Decide exactly what you want to hear about and when. Stability and polish across the board, with a tip of the hat to Arjan, whose quiet persistence keeps Penal moving forward.

  • 1.4.0

We're quietly getting Penal ready for the competitions that come after the World Championship. This release lays the groundwork under the hood, with a few speed tweaks and small design touches along the way. Plenty more to follow as the next tournaments draw closer, with a little help from Arjan's sharp eye.
