  1. 5/5Best App I’ve Spent Money On

I’m one of those child prodigy genius turned horribly depressed adults, wondering why my brain quit working like it used to. I’ve been training for a couple months now, with my highest streak being 41. I can actually feel myself getting better and better. My memory in everyday life is better, I can focus on my tasks much easier, I’ve started having a MUCH easier time relating to others, and my once horrendous problem solving skills are through the roof. I can tell in everyday life as I come to better solutions much faster than I normally would have. I only have two scores below 400 now (total score above 500) and I’m so very proud of myself. Looking at the progress I’ve made is astonishing. The brain is a muscle like any other. If you want it to be fit, you must train like you do with the rest of your body. I’ve done brain games in the past but lost momentum because the games were just not that fun and it was the same game every day. With Peak, there’s so many different options to chose from and you never really get bored. I do have a few games I dislike playing because I’m not good at them, but it’s easy to remind myself why that means they’re the most important to do. I HIGHLY recommend this app to anyone struggling. My depression and anxiety have gotten much more manageable as well, but I’ve been putting in my own separate work for that on top of the training.

  2. 2/5game ad (4x) ad game ad (2x) ad game (repeat as needed)

A few months ago i would’ve been singing praises in a review and say that even if you don’t pay, this is a fantastic app, but since then they’ve cut and cut and added double the ads. Before you had 4 games in your daily workout that you could play without watching any ads (or six if you watched one ad) and occasionally you would get the opportunity to play a pro (paid) games in those 4/6. Then after your workout you could play any of the free games for one ad each. For a while there was a glitch that if you did your workout early in the day and then came back to peak a couple hours later, the pro games would be unlocked as well which was great for me but not nearly as great for peak so i totally understand why they fixed that. When they fixed that, they also made it so if a pro game was your 6th workout game, you couldn't watch an ad to play it. After that, they took pro games out of the daily workouts completely. (But your old scores for the pro games still count toward your peak score, which is a problem since you rarely got to play them so your score is likely much lower than other games of the same category.) Now they’ve added ads between every workout game and in order to access your additional two workout games you need to watch an ad before and after, even though you could play the same two games for only one if you choose them individually. If you’re just joining peak now, it might be okay since you don’t know The Old Peak™️ but even if i look at it through the lens of knowing i have that bias, this app is still overwhelming ad heavy.

  3. 2/5Games are fun, but difficult to determine if worth paying for pro

The games are certainly very fun and interesting, but you only get to play a set of 3 games once per day, unless you pay for the pro version (which is a monthly payment). No redos or anything. That would be fine normally, but they then give you a summary of your overall performance which I feel isn’t accurate if you missed something on the instructions or if someone interrupts you while playing and something goes wrong. Also the instructions for the games can be complicated and/or slow going. There were some games with instructions that were too long or went through too slow for me so I skimmed them, but then messed up on an aspect of the game so my overall performance summary shot down on certain skills. The summary is actually very cool, but it kind of threw me off with how skewed my results became when I messed up on one game. I was actually considering paying for the game, but by not allowing me to replay the games for the day and having complicated/long game instructions makes it hard for me to determine its worth so I ultimately decided to just delete it. I was hoping this app would be fun while simultaneously training my brain, but it feels more like a daily pop quiz from high school with daily report cards based only on the pop quiz performance. I’m not interested in doing high school over again.

  4. 5/5Thank you Peak!

Wow... I’m so glad I found this app. I was in a bad car accident a year and a half ago and my brain got seriously smashed up. As a result my memory (mostly short term) and math skills disappeared. I’ve been using Peak for about 2 months and I see significant changes in my memory abilities. Just a few weeks ago I was still telling any new person I talked to that I might lose my train of thought and I always felt self-conscious about my memory skills because it was so apparent when you spoke with me that they still hadn’t recovered. And just yesterday I realized that I haven’t had to excuse my poor memory to anyone lately, and in fact I go days where I don’t remember it’s an issue (not because my memory is bad but because it’s no longer such a problem!). And because of this app I actually learned that my math skills disappeared. I always just thought my mind was being lazy but when I saw it first hand how hard it was for me to do simple math on this app I saw the problem. It was really troubling and embarrassing when I realized - I used to be good at math - but I’ve been slowly getting better. So essentially this app has been my brain rehab! And I couldn’t be more happy about my progress! Thank you!!!

  5. 3/5Great Game

Let me start off by saying I’m not opposed to in app purchasing, however making it so that the game is unplayable is not fair when calling it a free game, just come out as a paying game from the beginning or definitely do not update it in such a way that people don’t want to play it anymore, when I started playing Peak, the presence of ads was obvious, and if you wanted to replay a game you could watch an ad by choice, otherwise the game was pretty ad free if you didn’t go about watching them yourself, it just really irritates me when a game goes out of its way to shove ads down your throat, much in the way Peak now does. After every click to continue your very limited already daily challenge, there is now an ad that plays for 30 seconds that you cannot skip, the screen clearly shows “an ad will play if you want to replay” and yet no matter what you press the ads bombard you, I understand companies need to make money and employees need to get paid for producing this game, but as I’ve already stated, make it a game you have to pay for, be that the case I would of paid for it, I mean as it is I am considering just paying for it as this really is becoming something I no longer can deal with, I enjoy playing it but am unfortunately more likely to just delete the app entirely because these types of changes can only be seen as what they are. Flash back 2 weeks ago and the ads weren’t even an issue, I think I hadn’t even had to watch a single ad through Peak at all, and now, it’s just everywhere, all the time there’s some or another ad playing.
