4/5Terrible calculator for the price
I got this calculator years ago but deleted it because I didn’t like it. I downloaded it again to give it another try but still left disappointed. The iPhone is much more powerful than a Casio scientific calculator yet this app acts like an HP calculator made 20 years ago and doesn’t work as efficiently as a Casio calculator built in the last 5 years. I cannot input long calculations in one go, you must input everything one register at a time which is time consuming and outdated. Also the calculations are very limited. If the fraction has a square root then the answer will be either given in decimal or an approximated fraction instead of an exact value with the square root still intact in the answer. Also the multiline support is very limited. I can’t show my previous calculations except on the outdated tape mode instead of displaying it right on the multiline display like a normal modern Casio calculator. Furthermore, unless I specifically go into complex mode and input data in an inefficient way I can’t do complex calculations. Typing in root(-1) results in an error instead of the calculator outputting “i” like it should. While this layout and methodology might have been impressive 20 years ago, it is very lacking in our modern time and fails to properly utilize the power of modern smartphone processors and massive memory availability. Note: I am better used to the interface now, and while it takes more input time for long calculations, it’s still quite handy in its own way. I changed my rating to 4 stars

5/5PCalc is AMAZING!
iOS 18 build-in calculator redesign is a disaster. I don’t know what was Apple thinking. You can’t even do % calculations correctly there. Well, after being super frustrated with the idiocy of Apple devs and their dumb decisions regarding how calculators are supposed to work I found PCalc!!! What an amazing app. After trying the free version for couple of weeks I bought the full version and deleted the Apple’s built in Calculator. This calculator app is THE BEST! PCalc can be added to the Control center, has custom icons if you want to change the default one, and amazing themes/skins. What an amazing calculator! Thank you to the dev team who stand behind this app.

5/5Best Calculator App, Period.
This thing is the Disneyland of calculator apps. The developer is a genius. Every feature you could possibly want, or might one day in the future discover you want, is in here. But none of that vast array of features results in any unnecessary complexity. PCalc is totally user customizable, enabling you to create just the feature set and look and feel that you desire. Also, every other calc app I have tried has either lagged or mis-registered touches, but PCalc is smooth as silk, which is crucial for a calculator. I never thought I would even review, much less rave about a calculator app, but not only does PCalc work like a dream, but it has such incredible attention to detail and customizability that it's actually a ton of fun just to play around with the endless variations. But wait, there's more. As if this thing couldn't possibly get any better, in the latest version the developer has added what can only be described as a 3-D graphics wonderland as a hidden bonus. Simply tap the "i" key, then "Help", then "About PCalc" and prepare to be amazed. You just have to try it; I don't want to spoil the surprise.

5/5Sure, there are lots of calculators...
... But none like this! Pcalc has been around for a long, long time and is available on both iOS and macOS. However, the iOS version seems to be getting most of the love from the very talented author, and that's okay by me: I'm more likely to have an iOS device handy these days and I now find excuses to use this attractive and powerful app. I use it daily for various units conversions and general calculating. I fell in love as soon as I discovered it had an RPN mode. Easily mastered, RPN is intuitive and eliminates any ambiguity over operator precedence in complex calculations. My nearly 40 year-old HP calculator still sits in a lonely drawer; I'd rather use Pcalc, now. If you have an iPad Pro, the latest release has a delightful Easter egg that demonstrates the considerable computing and graphics power, while allowing the author to show off his programming chops. As an old-timer, I'm impressed!

4/5Great Calculator. Almost Perfect for Scientists
What’s not to love? The “fit and feel” are as good as grabbing a physical calculator. It handles everything and more that you’d expect from a standard scientific calculator and more. The functions and conversions are more useful than you’d think and this single app replaces many other apps on my phone. It’s also one of the few iOS calculators that is just as useful whether or not you fall into the rpn crowd. The real standout is the endless customizations. Custom functions, custom conversions, custom display, even custom key layouts. You can really make it as custom as you need it. This is the heart of making useful to you. You can make it into anywhere from a financial calculator to a carpenters calculator with smart custom functions and layouts. While this calculator has evolved into a useful program, it has a few areas that are lacking in making it a truly amazing scientific calculator. 1. It needs real complex number support. You can do some complex calculations using special functions and multiple registers but it’s extremely clunky and not in line with the ease of the rest of the app. It discourages one from doing complex math that many engineers and scientists deal with. 2. The functions need more flexibility in terms of loops and subroutines. The current functions are fine for simple formulas, but some things (like a root finder) need iterative solvers and the ability to call subroutines. At that point one may say you should use an hp or ti emulator, but those are not nearly as smooth as PCalc. A few more features and it will truly be the best calculator in your pocket.

          "body": "I got this calculator years ago but deleted it because I didn’t like it. I downloaded it again to give it another try but still left disappointed. The iPhone is much more powerful than a Casio scientific calculator yet this app acts like an HP calculator made 20 years ago and doesn’t work as efficiently as a Casio calculator built in the last 5 years. I cannot input long calculations in one go, you must input everything one register at a time which is time consuming and outdated. Also the calculations are very limited. If the fraction has a square root then the answer will be either given in decimal or an approximated fraction instead of an exact value with the square root still intact in the answer. Also the multiline support is very limited. I can’t show my previous calculations except on the outdated tape mode instead of displaying it right on the multiline display like a normal modern Casio calculator. Furthermore, unless I specifically go into complex mode and input data in an inefficient way I can’t do complex calculations. Typing in root(-1) results in an error instead of the calculator outputting “i” like it should. While this layout and methodology might have been impressive 20 years ago, it is very lacking in our modern time and fails to properly utilize the power of modern smartphone processors and massive memory availability. Note: I am better used to the interface now, and while it takes more input time for long calculations, it’s still quite handy in its own way. I changed my rating to 4 stars",

          "body": "iOS 18 build-in calculator redesign is a disaster. I don’t know what was Apple thinking. You can’t even do % calculations correctly there. Well, after being super frustrated with the idiocy of Apple devs and their dumb decisions regarding how calculators are supposed to work I found PCalc!!! What an amazing app. After trying the free version for couple of weeks I bought the full version and deleted the Apple’s built in Calculator. This calculator app is THE BEST! PCalc can be added to the Control center, has custom icons if you want to change the default one, and amazing themes/skins. What an amazing calculator!           "body": "This thing is the Disneyland of calculator apps. The developer is a genius. Every feature you could possibly want, or might one day in the future discover you want, is in here. But none of that vast array of features results in any unnecessary complexity. PCalc is totally user customizable, enabling you to create just the feature set and look and feel that you desire. Also, every other calc app I have tried has either lagged or mis-registered touches, but PCalc is smooth as silk, which is crucial for a calculator. I never thought I would even review, much less rave about a calculator app, but not only does PCalc work like a dream, but it has such incredible attention to detail and customizability that it's actually a ton of fun just to play around with the endless variations. But wait, there's more. As if this thing couldn't possibly get any better, in the latest version the developer has added what can only be described as a 3-D graphics wonderland as a hidden bonus. Simply tap the \"i\" key, then \"Help\", then \"About PCalc\" and prepare to be amazed. You just have to try it; I don't want to spoil the surprise.",

          "body": "... But none like this! Pcalc has been around for a long, long time and is available on both iOS and macOS. However, the iOS version seems to be getting most of the love from the very talented author, and that's okay by me: I'm more likely to have an iOS device handy these days and I now find excuses to use this attractive and powerful app. I use it daily for various units conversions and general calculating. I fell in love as soon as I discovered it had an RPN mode. Easily mastered, RPN is intuitive and eliminates any ambiguity over operator precedence in complex calculations. My nearly 40 year-old HP calculator still sits in a lonely drawer; I'd rather use Pcalc, now. If you have an iPad Pro, the latest release has a delightful Easter egg that demonstrates the considerable computing and graphics power, while allowing the author to show off his programming chops. As an old-timer, I'm impressed!",

          "body": "What’s not to love? The “fit and feel” are as good as grabbing a physical calculator. It handles everything and more that you’d expect from a standard scientific calculator and more. The functions and conversions are more useful than you’d think and this single app replaces many other apps on my phone. It’s also one of the few iOS calculators that is just as useful whether or not you fall into the rpn crowd. The real standout is the endless customizations. Custom functions, custom conversions, custom display, even custom key layouts. You can really make it as custom as you need it. This is the heart of making useful to you. You can make it into anywhere from a financial calculator to a carpenters calculator with smart custom functions and layouts. While this calculator has evolved into a useful program, it has a few areas that are lacking in making it a truly amazing scientific calculator. 1. It needs real complex number support. You can do some complex calculations using special functions and multiple registers but it’s extremely clunky and not in line with the ease of the rest of the app. It discourages one from doing complex math that many engineers and scientists deal with. 2. The functions need more flexibility in terms of loops and subroutines. The current functions are fine for simple formulas, but some things (like a root finder) need iterative solvers and the ability to call subroutines. At that point one may say you should use an hp or ti emulator, but those are not nearly as smooth as PCalc. A few more features and it will truly be the best calculator in your pocket.",
