I bought Parkwolf pro for our trip to Yellowstone and grand Teton. The app worked wonderfully to help us find our way around the park. The information that it gave us along the way was also very helpful as we were doing this trip on our own and didn’t have a guide to give us a lot of the insights that were available in the app. I have to say that without it I think we would’ve had a lot more trouble navigating the parks so it was extremely helpful to get us where we needed to go, particularly when there was a closure of the road due to an accident in Yellowstone. I would offer a couple of suggestions that may be in the app and some of your updates. Number one was that we did not have the ability to see how the app was going to work before we left. I may have missed those instructions, but if it doesn’t exist, I would say that you should have some way that you can get familiar with the use of the app before you go. Another question we had before we went was if we can’t get cellular access, how will the app work. Apparently works very well on GPS because we had reception in areas where we couldn’t make a cell phone call or receive any other information. It would be nice to be able to know that before you go to the parks. All things considered the app was extremely helpful and we will use it again on our next trip to the national parks. Thanks for having such a good product.

  2. 5/5New to the app, but great so far.

I’m brand new to this app, but it’s been great so far. I’m getting ready to head out on a road trip in a few days and will really test it out. I like the feature where you can report your sightings…wildlife, etc. and you can be notified if someone sees a particular animal, etc. that you would like to see. I do hope people will use this responsibly and observe wildlife from a distance…keep wildlife wild. I’ve also seen a few comments about places that seem to be based on folks reporting their experiences. For example, a campground that has some reports of problems with noise or management vs. campgrounds that are quieter (don’t think the forest service is going to report problems they are having with management). So that’s it…hope to have good things to report once I really put this app to work.

  3. 5/5Parker Wolfe is our nat’l parks bestie 🤣

LOVE this app - the audio tour guide is so informative and interesting. Yes, we named him. “Parker Wolfe” was a lovely traveling companion on our recent trip to all the Utah parks. I’ve been telling everyone I know about the app. I do wish there were a way to skip back just one audio clip, or even just go back to the beginning of one that just started playing. I know you can reset the whole guide but that seemed like overkill for times when we missed the beginning of something because we were talking. I use the free trial for a trip to Yosemite last fall. Totally got our money’s worth out of paying for a subscription for the Utah trip we just took.

  4. 3/5Wasn’t what I hoped at all

We gave it a try on our trip to Acadia. It really has a lot of potential, but there still a lot of glitches and details to work out. Specifically, we could not get the audio to work because it said that it was not downloaded, which it was. There’s no way to force download it like with most apps. We went to the hotel that night and tried it on Wi-Fi. Thinking that may be the issue, made no difference in the audio never worked again. the part where you can navigate to see where you’re at on the map is very helpful except it always wants to orient at this weird angle instead of straight down and when you move it it moves right back. Makes it really difficult to know where you’re at and what’s ahead of you when it’s at that slanted angle I think with some changes to include the ability to specifically download and confirm that it’s download and a few other things it would be great.

We recently traveled to Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton with friends. I accidentally stumbled across ParkWolf in the App Store. What a find! It's loaded with relevant information, an interesting narrative as you enter and explore the park and is 100% available for use when your cell phones are not. That feature alone is worth it. The maps are really valuable as they are very detailed, including interesting stops and sites along the way. I would definitely recommend getting and using this app if you're headed to National Parks. While the NPS offers an app of their own, it pales in comparison to what ParkWolf has and can do for you. Two thumbs up for this one.
