  1. 3/5Purchased Manga “expires”

I would love to give this more stars, as I think it creates great accessibility to more manga to more people. I have a huge issue with how downloads are handled as I’m regularly offline. I understand licensing issues and most entertainment downloaded times out now. This is pretty annoying and could probably be handled better than deleting and redownloading (renew lease maybe?)…but my biggest issue is with PURCHASED Manga, volumes you pay to buy on top of your subscription. These purchased volumes “expire” just like any other download. They should NEVER expire as you have paid additional money to purchase them specifically. Either the fees need to change and go way down if you don’t actually own that digital copy, or they need to never expire as they are yours now. I’m happy to revisit this review if things change.

  2. 2/5Pricing model is ridiculous

The app itself is fine enough. Easy to navigate, plenty of reading options, large assortment of manga. Honestly it’s what I was searching for. Until I saw the dreaded lock on chapters from a certain point onwards. “One time purchase to unlock the content below,” or something. You’d think that’d be fine, and was more than willing to pay for the remaking volumes. But this is.a subscription based service. Why do I have to pay for the remaining volumes when I’m already paying for the subscription? It’s one or the other. Both at one is asinine anti consumer behavior.

  3. 3/5Eh

I understand that this is a new app but I got it to read Tokyo Revengers and there’s only 5 chapters up. And only 5 chapters for some time. Whenever they announce new chapters on Twitter it’s never mentioned so I have no idea when it’ll be updated. I know it’s new and has room to grow but a lot of chapters have been out for awhile so I’m not sure why they’re not there. I’ve been considering cancelling my subscription but of course you can’t on the app.

  4. 1/5Customer Support

I am having issues with customer support website. The app lets me log in. I’m able to log in on the website. I try to log into customer support with same email and password and it says that log in info is wrong. My issues is that I’m unable to read manga in the app. Even though I’m paying for the subscription. Still says I’m a free member. I logged in and out of the app. I delete and reinstalled the app to see if that would fix the issue. The issue still persists. I requested new password email and have yet to receive it. In either my inbox or junk mail box.

  5. 5/5Great Selection

I downloaded this since there were books from Glacier Bay and Star Fruit, and so far I’ll loving the service. The app works well and it’s easy to browse. Some series have more chapters available than others, with some only providing the most recent chapters instead of past ones. Though it can be sad to see a lack of backfilled chapters, I understand that publishing and licensing is complicated (and I’ll take what I can get lol). Overall Azuki provides a stronger variety than what I’ve seen on other apps— and that’s what I value most. But I hope more publishers take bigger chances and license larger chunks of their series to Azuki.
