   I joined in Aug 2021 so I’ve been using this app for a little under 8 months, and it is my fav fitness app yet! I loved that none of the instructors (for classes I typically do) talk about food or dieting, the focus is solely on exercise and movement and feeling good. I love the variety in types of classes, intensities within those categories, different instructors to choose from, and varying lengths for when I’m not feeling a full 60min or when I’m feeling powerful and wanna tack on an extra 15 min bonus Pilates session. My only complaint is the Replay classes. I don’t understand the point of having (what feels like over a third of the classes are now) classes that you can only do once. Some of my favorites have been Replays and I can’t do them but once and why? Bc they contain specially curated music? No thank you. I’d be fine if Obé cut the music all together if it’s forcing them to make weird choices like Replay classes. I used to use The Class but they also stopped providing on-demand classes altogether and that’s why I left. I hope they get rid of it soon. But that being said, I still love this app and recommend it to anyone who feels like a novice to exercise and isn’t sure where to start. :)

2. 4/5Love the content but app itself needs improvement

   I love the wide variety of classes that obé offers and how straight-forward and accessible the instructors are. The instructors are very encouraging and they make the workouts challenging no matter the level. Thanks to obé , I’ve been able to get fit and keep a consistent workout schedule, something I was never able to do when I was doing exercises on my own. I always want to workout bc of the fun workouts, particularly as obé makes it really fun to work out with friends! My minor complaint on content is it would be nice if they had music rights for replays; the generic music isn’t fun. It’s particularly a bummer that when there are fun themes- like 90s pop-those aren’t available for replays bc of the music rights issue. Other than that, I love the content! My biggest problem I have is with the actual app itself. I’m not sure if it’s due to my having an outdated iPhone but it is really challenging to mirror onto Apple TV from the obé app at times. If I don’t do it in a certain order, it doesn’t work (I don’t have a problem with it with other apps). Also, sometimes the app doesn’t even start and I have to give it a little bit of time, which is a problem when I’m trying to join a live class. I also don’t appreciate that it periodically logs out you out for no reason. Again, it’s annoying to do that when you are trying to join a class. The filtering could be more user friendly too as it’s slow.

3. 3/5Disappointed long time subscriber

   Update: I’m still currently subscribed to the platform for the time being, but the changes that have been in the last year have greatly diluted the price I pay for membership. They no longer offer Live classes, only upload 3-4 classes a day - about 50% express 10 minute classes, closed their community Facebook group, no longer encourage communication with instructors, little to no holiday or themed classes, and instead are recycling existing content for “new” programs, capitalizing on trends like intermittent fasting, PCOS and fertility, mood and period tracking, and weight loss medicine workouts?? No one is asking for this content, we just want the community and spirit that attracted us to obé and kept us around for so long. Some instructors only have a full length class once a month, which is quite disappointing. Would love to see them adjust membership pricing without having to reach out and threaten to quit or ask for the current pricing, especially as a 6 year member, I shouldn’t be taken advantage of because I have more important things to do instead of beg for a price that more accurately reflects what I’m receiving from this service. I miss the old obé. Absolutely love this platform - the variety of classes and schedule, on demand and live classes, the best instructors EVER, shout-outs, and the amazing community they have creative. I have been a member for almost two years and have no reason to ever stop!

4. 2/5Great instructors, but app needs some work

   I’m in the middle of my free trial and like what I’ve seen of the service so far, but the app UI has some very frustrating flaws. 1. The equipment filter when searching for a class doesn’t work the way it should - all types of equipment should start out being selected, and the user should tap on types of equipment to deselect them and remove them from the results, not the other way around. Otherwise, if I only have one type of equipment, the search results just show me classes with that equipment + other things, rendering the filter totally useless. 2. You should be able to adjust filters once you’ve performed a search - currently you tap the filters to go back to search which clears all of them, meaning you have to input everything again and again. 3. The app doesn’t indicate whether you’ve already done a particular workout. Since every class has the same name (also annoying - maybe append the dates to the names?), that makes it extra difficult to recall which ones you’ve done. A simple Watched icon would fix this. 4. The On-Demand section loads SO SLOWLY. Holy crap. Clearly some optimization needs to happen, I don’t know if they’re trying to load every single video possible in the background, but it’s an awful experience. It often causes my entire app to freeze up (I’m on an iPhone X, btw). Really hope the devs will consider fixing these things because the app would be so much more usable.

5. 2/5Instructors and classes are great; app is not

   The instructors and workouts are amazing (especially Melody). There’s great variety, it’s always fresh and the vibe is awesome. That being said, the app itself is pretty awful and very frustrating. It has terrible glitches - especially with the replays (although the on demand ones also have their flaws). And while it seems they’ve moved away from one time replays, they still have something similar available but you can’t even cast them right now so if you miss it live, the workout is unusable. It stops and starts repeatedly and always freezes up. When you have limited time to workout, there’s no time to deal with those types of glitches. And when you reach out to obe customer support to point it out, they just want to put you In touch with IT to “troubleshoot”. But we all know that no amount of troubleshooting can help with a poorly built app. Also I wish they’d acknowledge publicly that this is a known issue and they are working on fixing it (although I’m not sure they actually even are trying to actively fix), versus gaslighting you into feeling like this isn’t a major flaw with their app. So based on all of that, I can’t recommend this app which is a shame because I do love the workouts and overall vibe. If anyone in a leadership position at obe is reading this, please find a new IT team and software provider to help you build a better app.
