4/5Good but needs much more pencil support
The audio features are great and really helpful. It makes notetaking for lectures much easier and I am really glad I have a subscription. I really wish it had more drawing functionality. I like to draw on top of my typed notes, draw arrows between things, and make other small notes. The ability to use boxes for drawing is essentially useless for me and that is the only drawing functionality this app has. I also wish it was easier to add notes without the time stamp later. If I’m listening to the recording but want to go and add another bullet somewhere, I have to bring the recording all the way back to the beginning unless I want to add an additional timestamp. This is annoying when users could just be able to delete time stamps if they want.

2/5Mediocre experience
The fact that dictation processing happens in the cloud and requires a subscription is really annoying. The user interface has a bewildering number of buttons and it isn’t instantly clear what each button does. Most bring up new menus with too many options. There’s things like a gear menu and a hamburger menu visible at the same time, or a record button and a microphone button on the same screen. If your cursor is in a text field, you still may need to manually open a keyboard. Dumb design choices are everywhere. I frequently found myself wondering how to do something as simple add text or god-forbid dictate to the dictation app. Mind you, I could figure it out after some tinkering, but this is a note taking app and it shouldn’t need a tutorial or a manual. No one needs half these features. The features that are needed aren’t the design priority. This is shoddily done. These people aren’t selling an app, they’re allowing you to pay them to keep developing their half-baked project. They got me suckered into a free trial and I still couldn’t find the premium features. Yikes.

5/5WELL WORTH IT
I have had maaannnyyy note taking/recording apps for personal use as well as business, but NONE like this one. Noted carries its weight in gold. Let’s chat about some of the features that turned me into a believer: I host an online podcast so Noted allows you to (trim audio) 20 pts. You can dictate in Noted (speech to text) 10 pts. The noise reduction feature needs a little more work in my opinion. The audio is so darn high quality that it picks up everything (perhaps this doesn’t qualify as a complaint) so 7 pts. The recording feature is outstanding (bar none). You can change screen themes and aren’t locked into one boring setting 10 pts. Did I mention you can record and take notes simultaneously 50 pts. Listen, if you have a need to record anything at all you can do so and upload the recordings, forward them , even share notes. There’s a function in here that allows you to add a phrase to Apple’s Siri when you’re ready to create a new note: just say hey Siri I need to write a new note (…and boom). There’s a free version (which is great for testing out the basic noted), but I paid for the FULL VERSION as I need this for business. I am an Author, Real Estate Investor, Minister and Trainer. This product has so many uses for personal, educational and business—you will not be disappointed once you learn your way around the app. Also, you can use the Noted app on your Apple Watch to voice record (a bonus feature that’s perfect). I also use the Note app that comes with Apple products, but this NOTED app is like Apple Notes on steroids (hands down)!!! I will continue to use the Noted app and update my review as needed. Enjoy!

5/5The best note taking app available
I truly believe this app is the perfect app for anyone in school or who is in a professional atmosphere where note taking is important- honestly you could even expand that to include anyone, using this app to organize their day to day life in general. I love how organized you can be, recordings, text notes, pictures all set into specific notebooks. There was an issue I had where I had accidentally placed my recordings from one of my notebooks into the “archives” and I could no longer share them with my classmates or continue to use them in the way I had been. I could not for the life of me figure out how to move them back into the folder I had intended them to be in, so I sent an email to support and they got right back to me explaining how to fix the issue! I was very impressed to say the least:)

2/5NOT for TRANSCRIPTION - What’s the purpose again?
I’m sure the app can do something useful for a certain population subset, but that target audience just doesn’t include me. So disappointing. I thought the purpose of this app was TRANSCRIPTION (with some extra tag features to find important audio info quickly). When I read the app description prior to download, I had a picture in my mind that was completely different than the actual app. For those with poor verbal memory, like me, I thought I would be able to read an article out loud or record someone speaking, and the app would do a better than average job understanding and transcribing the audio into written type. Uh, Nope. Transcription is such a non-strategic part of the app that the owners had to write how to get a transcription of a recorded audio. I followed those directions and still couldn’t get the app to transcribe. I could search more or contact the developer, but it really should not be this difficult. This is what I thought would happen… Push a button. Record. Either transcribe while the person is speaking or…Push another button. Transcribe. Unless I use dictation, instead of record, I have yet to get the app to transcribe the audio. BTW, using the dictate microphone instead of record means you CANNOT SWITCH APPS to read the article you want to record. Hmmm.
