5/5So glad I found this app!
I love this app! It’s a great alternative to Google maps for organizing places I want to go. I like that you can create custom lists. A suggestion: I would love to be able to label places with emojis on the map, so instead of looking at the map and seeing a bunch of pins and hearts, there could be separate icons for each of my lists. I would also love to be able to put my lists in a custom order. Right now when I make a new list, the spot that it gets put into is completely random which is a little frustrating. And finally, I would love if friends could see my saved places and lists automatically without me having to send them a link.

5/5North fills a major life void for this frequent adventurer
I travel a ton to cities large and small, and given the combo of my work and personal travel, I’m constantly wanting a way to document the best tips I get and the best experiences I have. I’ve tried everything — iPhone notes, google docs, heaps of yelp reviews as a minor history, but nothing brings together the wide range of features North gives me to chart my next adventure and document what I loved most about my last. I also love that the next time someone asks me what to do in Paris, I can simply share my list on North, and they’ll have immediate, highly usable insights. Beautiful design, insightful feature set. RAH!

5/5How did this not exist already?
This is a pretty simple idea that is executed incredibly well. The idea of having a “place for your places” where you can save and share all the spots that are important to you, places you want to try, ones you want to share with your friends… it almost seems like it would just be built into your phone already, but this is the first version of this concept I’ve come across that actually works well! This app does a great job of making everything simple and user-friendly. Love it!

5/5Finally!!
I’ve been waiting for an app like North for years. My Google maps is a total mess of stars, hearts and flags. I can never find what I’m looking for and I have no memory of how I found the place in the first place. I’m using North now instead to save places because I can add notes to places. It also has useful map features to see nearby places you have saved. PLUS! I can share lists of places instead of doing the annoying text a million links. Wow.

5/5A dream!
As someone who was constantly Googling and Instagram searching the best spots for coffee or cocktails anytime I went to a new city—North takes all the hard work out of finding the best places, even in my own hometown! I no longer have to keep silly lists in my Notes app. I also love being able to collaborate and share with friends to get recommendations and keep track of where I’ve been. Massive round of applause!

This release includes a ton of fun updates. --- Introducing Polls We are so freaking excited for this one. We’ve said before that the best recs come from friends—but what if those friends aren’t on North? With Polls, it’s now easy to ask a question, like “What’s the best coffee in Paris?”, and share a link anywhere your people are: post it on X, share on Threads, send a text, email it—heck, you could put the link on a banner and fly it from an airplane. On your Poll, your friends can suggest places and vote on their favorites. The best part? They can do it all from the web or their phone, without downloading an app or creating an account. Now, you can easily crowdsource recommendations from your friends and followers. And once folks add places, you can easily save the ones you want to remember in North. Another great use case for polls? Deciding where to go to dinner with friends. Simply open North, create a poll asking—”Where should we go for dinner tonight?”, and pop it in a group text. Friends can add suggestions and vote on their favorites in seconds. --- North goes vrooooom In our opinion, app performance is a critical part of user experience. North should be easy-to-use, and part of that is ensuring it’s fast. This release we’ve shipped over a dozen improvements to speed. Here are the highlights: - Images load MUCH faster - Loading North featured lists and other users’ public lists is now much faster - North stays speedy on the Your Map tab even if you have 8,000+ places - The activity feed refreshes much quicker than before - Accepting friend requests now doesn’t take forever --- Measure your influence You all have discovered thousands of places through your friends on North. Now, we’re giving you a way to measure how often your friends are saving places that they discover through you. On your home screen, you can now see your "Influence", which goes up every time someone saves a place you added first—either from the activity feed, the shared map, or from one of your lists. Get out there, you trendsetters. --- Finally, we’ve shipped a ton of small improvements to the app based on feedback from all of our wonderful users. - You can now set your preferred unit of measure (km or miles). This is also defaulted based upon the location settings of your phone. - You can now add places to standard lists without marking them as “Wanna go” or adding a rating. This is helpful when you’re creating a list of recommendations for someone else, but you don’t want these places saved to your places. - We’ve updated the UI on the map for adding and removing different layers (such as friends' pins and North's recommendations). - You can now create Smart Lists that are conditioned off of country (previously, it was only possible to do this by region and city).

# Friends on North Our vision is to make North your home for saving and discovering new places, *together*. While shared and published lists are a piece of that, this release is our biggest leap towards that vision yet—you can now discover new places to save on North by following the activity of your friends. # New Map Experience We have now made it way easier for you to quickly view your places in different cities quickly. Tap the new Map Search Bar at the top of the screen to quickly search or browse cities in which you have saved places. Or, zoom out on the map to see your places cluster into cities with a new carousel to swipe between your cities. # New Search Experience Search now includes faster and easier ways to search for places in different cities around the world. Search history also enables you to quickly get back to recent searches and recently searched areas. # More Photos We now attempt to find up to 20 photos of your places, making it easier to do that all-so-critical “vibe check” before saving a place. # A Bunch of Polish We also shipped a bunch of quality-of-life improvements that should make North even more delightful to use: - Links in notes and list descriptions are now tappable. - Places now include an “Open in Google” to view the place, including additional photos and reviews, in Google Maps. - You can now set your preferred mapping application (Google Maps or Apple Maps) in your user preferences. - You can now create Smart Lists for cities that you have not yet saved places for. - The pop-up confirming that you have saved a new place no longer covers the back button. - Tapping the “+” button everywhere now pulls up a quick add menu, which was previously only available in the list view.
