   We have a neighbor who plays loud bass from his car at all hours of the day, and I used the Deep Brown Noise to cover it up. Unfortunately, playing this app to a speaker takes a significant toll on the battery, even on a brand new iPhone 14 Plus, so I left it running on my previous phone and kept that plugged in (It would die within an hour if left unplugged with this app running.) Turns out that's not good for the battery either and I had a fun day of recalibrating the poor thing. All in all, not a terrible app in small amounts, but too pricey for how much battery it consumes.

2. 2/5Pricing: avoid this app

   This app had a lot of promise. It makes several types of noise. The interface of the app is so simplistic that it’s actually detrimental to the app. The thing that is really egregious, however is the price. $20 a year. That’s not happening. The only reason I downloaded the app at all is because on the App Store page, it listed all of the in app purchase options. There were several lifetime IAP listed. While I don’t agree with paying ANY amount, I don’t mind paying for a lifetime use of an app. I will NEVER subscribe to an app service. Subscriptions hurt the consumers and they only exist because of greed. By all that is water under the bridge, I’ll just bite my tongue and pay. Navigating the app, again, is very frustrating. There are no options, nothing to configure, no settings or tweaks. Ok, that’s fine, whatever, let me just pay my lifetime one transaction and I’ll be done with it. Despite clearly being advertised on the App Store page, no lifetime option exists. Not only is this company greedy, they’re liars as well. Avoid this app.

3. 5/5Used for a full year/ not a paid review

   I searched a while for an app that was simple to use at bedtime, a dark screen with NO SKIPS in sound, and zero pop-up ads. A skip keeps me from going to sleep, and can absolutely wake me up if I hear it. I find myself listening for them instead of relaxing. Same for ads, they light up the screen too much. As I type this, I realize that I have a lot of sleep requirements. :) Other noise apps I’ve tried, as well as a plug in noise machine I bought, have been frustrating overall. I don’t usually pay for apps, but this one is worth the $15 annually. I currently use the brown noise to help drown out snoring and city noise. There is also a timer that can be used to turn the sound off to help you wake naturally.

   I have really benefitted from my noise machine app, in many different settings. Sometimes I’ve needed it when traveling or in settings where there’s disruptive sounds. I’ve also used it often for my kids. It’s so nice to have it on my phone, so I always have it in a pinch. I love the simplicity of the app & sounds. There’s not endless amounts of options. And I absolutely love brown noise. It’s the most relaxing type of sound to me. So I’m glad this app has it.

5. 5/5My mind is quiet!!!

   I have had adhd since I was a child and have always had hard time winding down at night. I spend all night thinking thoughts. As the years go by I’ve tried it all to help. The brown noise has help me fall asleep within an hour and stay asleep as well to get a good 6 hours. It’s improved my sleep which had improved my mood and my life. I don’t really do app reviews but this one deserves one! Hope people give it a try. It takes a couple nights to get used to but once you do it’s amazing.
