   Update: July 5th, 2026. This app gives you notifications but when you tap the notification nothing happens. The notification doesn’t tell you anything and when you open the app the notification is gone. This app did work for a software update on the Nespresso machine but I haven’t tried to use the app for anything else. This app is barely usable. Water levels for various coffee’s and espresso’s can be manually adjusted on the machine itself according to the manual. The Nespresso machine is still working great. So I’m just not using the app for anything. Original review: I just purchased a new Nespresso Vertuo Next in June 2026. After using the machine for 4 or 5 days which all went very well after watching all the videos via the QR codes in the manual. I then decided to download this app and hook up my Nespresso machine to the app. I was able to turn on my Bluetooth and WiFi on my phone as instructed. Then I was able to link up the app following the in app instructions to my Nespresso machine and also my home WiFi router. After that the app was all set up. Then in the app there was a blue box indicating available information in settings. It said there was a software update for the Nespresso machine. So following the in app instructions. I started the update. The update started and one of those Apple whirls came up indicating you’re waiting for completion. It also said the software update would take up to 15 minutes. Well over an hour and 15 minutes later the update did Not complete. So I unplugged the Nespresso machine. The app was stuck so I turned my phone completely off therefore resetting the app. Once I turned my phone completely back on. I plugged the Nespresso machine back in opened the app. Connected to the Nespresso machine in the app and attempted the Nespresso machine software update a second time. Well to my surprise this time the software update worked and finished in less than 10 minutes. So I’m happy with this app so far. It’s obviously buggy. If you’re bothered by the app or having problems you could simply not use the app at all. You don’t really need it. The Nespresso machine works great without using the app at all. So many reviews of this app indicate extreme problems with this app. So if your Nespresso machine is working well enough without the app then simply dump the app.

2. 4/5Tried multiple 2.4GHZ networks. No dice.

   Update: Nespresso support told me to return the machine. I replaced the machine with another Nespresso up. It connected without issue. I’ve used it a few times and it functions. So, the connection issue is a hardware issue and not a software issue. I’m adjusting my star rating but leaving my original review. It’s now a review of the machine and not the software. I am still deducting a star because I’m forced to use WiFi. I shouldn’t be forced to use WiFi. Bluetooth should be enough to use the basic app features (volume, temp, etc). WiFi is only needed for updates and anything you need to access on the web. None of which I care about. I should have the option to skip WiFi and use Bluetooth only. It doesn’t give me that option. I also only have the option to call or send snail mail for support in the app. I should be given an email option. Original review (now about the hardware) I have a brand new Nespresso Up that I cannot adjust the volume on because I cannot connect to it with the app. I tried multiple devices and multiple networks. One had an older router so it had the older WPA security (2 and 3). I tried connecting to a new router. I even tried using the hotspot on my iPhone and using my iPad to set it up. Nothing works. RETURN YOUR MACHINE. You cannot do much with it without the app. Seriously considering returning this machine.

3. 2/5Buggy but a must I guess

   The app always signs me out but I suppose my Bissell app does the same. Only Lenovo air filters & Philips hue bulbs have figured out smart devices I guess. At least my machine is still “connected”, unlike my bissell wet dry vac which their app constantly yeets the vac from its memory AND signs me out. I use air quotes bc the machine will show connected on the app but when I go to do an action it will say it’s not so I’ll have to back out the action and tap back in a couple of times before it successfully does it. I like the new volume feature. I had to waste a pod to see if it will keep the volume setting for the size pod you choose indefinitely or if it will reset to default. It does. I don’t think I’ll use the feature much but I appreciate it’s there.

4. 1/5New App, Still Doesn’t Connect

   I’ve been a Nespresso owner for about 5 years now. My vertuo was able to connect to the app when first purchased back in 2021. I noticed it someone disconnected October the following year and I have not been able to reconnect. Despite trying other networks, the same when it did connect, turning on off the machine/phone and even deleting and reinstalling the app. Old app, new app—still have the same issues connecting. Even calling the hotline, they admitted it has been a common issue and it’s only useful anyway for reminders when to clean or descale your machine. It also doesn’t make sense why you have two apps, Nespresso store and Nespresso smart. It would be better if they just focused on strengthening an all-in-one app instead. Even ordering refills is a hassle.

5. 1/5The opposite of “smart”

   I have a Nespresso Expert machine that, until today, worked perfectly via the (now old) Nespresso app, and I have been using it 3-4 times a day for the last 7-8 years to make my perfect Americano. Well, after today’s “update”, I no longer have access to any of my drink customizations, and my machine will simply no longer connect to the app, even though there is NOTHING wrong with my machine. Spending an hour on the phone with “support” yielded nothing except some half-baked excuses and an “offer” to buy a new machine with a measly 35% discount. I have been a loyal Nespresso customer for well over twenty years, and I have had several different machines during that time. Of those, my Expert has been and remains by far the best machine Nespresso has ever made, and none of the new “upgrades” come even close to its feature-set, so replacing it would not only be wasteful, but totally pointless. While I understand that products change over time, I find it beyond unacceptable for a company to abruptly abandon a functionality without recourse for its loyal customers. And, if Nespresso expects me to spend additional money on another of its machines after this experience, it needs to have its malfunctioning corporate brain examined. Of course, I certainly don’t expect “upgrades” or new features for an 8+ year-old machine; however, I DO VERY MUCH EXPECT IT TO KEEP WORKING WITH ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL FEATURES, for as long as I choose to keep it in my kitchen. If this problem is not rectified via some kind of app-revision - or perhaps a separate “legacy” app - Nespresso will forever lose me as a customer and I will NEVER again spend a penny on its products. (By the way, I am a Swiss citizen and, as such, completely horrified by this entirely un-Swiss manner of doing business. The corporate office will be hearing from me….)
