5/5The best n-back app I’ve used
I’ve downloaded probably 10 different n-back apps over the years, and I recently found this one. It’s good. It’s a good combination of aesthetically pleasing and scientifically grounded while also having just the right amount of motivation. I’m surprised how motivating it is to want to stick with the streak in order not to have to “spend a coffee”. I’ve definitely felt the most consistent with this app as opposed to other similars. Also, at the end of a round, they give you an optional article to read about the science behind the tasks, and I really look forward to getting to it. It’s kind of like a little science snack reward for practicing.

5/5Forensic Utility for High-Stakes Operations
Most users view Dual N-Back as a game, for a Sovereign Operator, it is a Clinical Calibration Tool. I am currently at Level 7, utilizing this training to manage a high leverage trading environment while navigating complex structural transitions. The benefit isn't just 'memory' it is the expansion of Working RAM. It allows for the decoupling of emotional noise from strategic execution. I have found that as my N-Back level increases, my execution becomes automated. I no longer narrate my life, I execute it. Whether it’s auditing a CPG brand’s architecture, or maintaining a trade setup during personal volatility, the N-Back provides the cognitive resolution to see through the world in a different lens.

5/5Well designed
I’ve experimented with a couple n-back apps. This one has good basic features if that’s all you want. It also has good medium level features like insightful blog posts linked to each day’s finish page (so you can learn about what you are practicing), comparative stats and a button that lets you reset your settings to the ones closest to the original study (after you get the hang of the game and can turn off the helper cues). The developers were also very responsive when I had an app bug.

5/5This is the Best.
This is the perfect N-Back app for anyone who seriously wants to start/try the N-Back challenge. Tracks how you do, presents it in a graph, has a number of custom settings, provides articles to read, has a clever incentive system, and has an option to pay to support the developers to gain access to Leaderboards to see how you are doing compared to others, which is great for people who are competitively motivated. Thank you for making this app! I have been talking about it to everyone I know 😂

5/5Best Brain Game out there.
I’ve loved this game for a while, but this app does it best! The incentives are built in—but be prepared for a challenge! You will want to change the voice immediately to the enhanced setting. After that, just press go, clear your mind, stare at the crosshairs and let the magick happen! Edit: After the 20 day challenge, I’m still impressed and will continue out of love of the game. One advanced feature request: durational limits! It’d be nice to play more rounds/time at the higher n-back levels.

1.1.2
Following the latest iOS release, some of our learners reported problems with non-English voices. This version contains fixes to address the main issues. Unfortunately, the non-English voices supported in this version do not sound quite as natural as some of the previous non-English voices. We hope that we will be able to make high-quality non-English voices available again in the future. For now, you might want to consider switching to English voices instead. Please also note that, following the latest iOS release, the English voices seem to take longer to initialize, which can lead to problems at very high (e.g., 4x) playback speeds. Here, too, we hope that this will only be a temporary problem. Kudos to our community for alerting us to these issues!
-
1.12.0
In this version, we applied a major upgrade to our voices across all supported languages. Not only do the new voices sound more natural and pleasant, but they should also make it much easier to phonetically distinguish the different letters being read out. At the same time, we fixed a bug related to missing stimuli during gameplay. We hope these updates improve your enjoyment of the N-Back Challenge. Thank you very much for using our app!
-

This new build also contains a gift of 4 free coffees. We are working hard to release the new version as soon as possible, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience!

A recent iOS update, 16.4.1, seems to have caused issues for some text-to-speech voices. Apple responded by quickly releasing an automatic update, 16.4.1 (a), that should have fixed these problems. This version of the N-Back Challenge includes a modal with information about this issue, as well as a free coffee for those who may have delayed or missed a session as a result of voice-related problems.
-
