Following the latest iOS release, some of our learners reported problems with non-English voices. This version contains fixes to address the main issues. Unfortunately, the non-English voices supported in this version do not sound quite as natural as some of the previous non-English voices. We hope that we will be able to make high-quality non-English voices available again in the future. For now, you might want to consider switching to English voices instead. Please also note that, following the latest iOS release, the English voices seem to take longer to initialize, which can lead to problems at very high (e.g., 4x) playback speeds. Here, too, we hope that this will only be a temporary problem. Kudos to our community for alerting us to these issues!

In this version, we applied a major upgrade to our voices across all supported languages. Not only do the new voices sound more natural and pleasant, but they should also make it much easier to phonetically distinguish the different letters being read out. At the same time, we fixed a bug related to missing stimuli during gameplay. We hope these updates improve your enjoyment of the N-Back Challenge. Thank you very much for using our app!

The purpose of this release is to reassure you that your data are backed up on our servers, and that you will see them restored in our next app update. Version 1.1.2 of the N-Back Challenge contained a bug that may have cut some of your data, including your coffee balance and game stats. The purpose of this release is to prevent any data loss, going forward, for those who had not yet been affected by this bug. As for those who have already experienced problems related to this bug: We are currently working to restore your data from the back-ups on our servers. For those in our community of learners who have experienced data loss issues in version 1.1.2 of the N-Back Challenge, this version is meant to restore your missing data. We're also giving out another free coffee, just in case any of you have taken a break from the N-Back Challenge since version 1.1.2 and are now being asked for a coffee upon returning. Fixed a few minor bugs.

A recent iOS update, 16.4.1, seems to have caused issues for some text-to-speech voices. Apple responded by quickly releasing an automatic update, 16.4.1 (a), that should have fixed these problems. This version of the N-Back Challenge includes a modal with information about this issue, as well as a free coffee for those who may have delayed or missed a session as a result of voice-related problems.

A recent iOS update, 16.5, seems to have caused issues for a few text-to-speech voices. As a result, we have temporarily removed some of the voice options and languages (e.g., German).

Fixed a handful of bugs, mostly related to voice selection.

Besides a few bug fixes, this update includes our new premium subscriptions, which give you access to unlimited free breaks, the Weekly Habit, and our level leaderboards. At the same time, we are retiring our "pizzas." You can still purchase "coffees," though, which, as before, you can cash in to take a break and, if you've broken a long streak, to repair it.

In this update, we've fine-tuned the subscription purchase experience to make it easier to choose between our monthly and annual subscription plan.
