  1. 4/5My sug’r

I like just about everything about the app, except the sound your app makes when it does anything it considers noteworthy. It’s almost as annoying as the card reader at the grocery store. Aside from that, it works, and it keeps track of my readings without me having to do much. Tanx! Three days later… I’m still learning about the app, how I can use it, and what it can do for me and my health. I have started tracking my daily drug regimen. I like that the app remembers my regular meds from day to day. I have not yet found instructions or a help screen, both of which will be useful when I find them. I got a bit confused with the list of my drugs and the numbers on the right hand side of the screen. I mistakenly thought the numbers indicated the doses in milligrams. Actually, they represent the number of pills that I take. Ooooh. Now I get it. For me, I think having the app remember the number of pills would be helpful; it would save a little time, AND it would lessen the chance of making a mistake in reporting the drugs I take. Thanks for developing the app and for sharing it with us. Please continue to develop the app and keep sharing them with us. Dan Frain

  2. 2/5“Latest” version

The “Latest” version of this app has a known “bug” where it dropped the DMI reading. This leaves you guessing where you might be trending toward your A1C goal. That’s a pretty big deal for someone like myself who’s goal is to send my type 2 diabetes diagnosis intoy remission before my body becomes to dependent upon Metformin to regulate insulin. I was trending remarkably well with diet and lifestyle changes and have had good glucose reading on half the Metformin, but since the DMI feature is no longer available, I’ve got no idea where I’m heading re: my A1C. This is disturbing because I based my decision to buy the Roche “Accu-Chek Guide Me” glucose meter on its Bluetooth connectivity and the feature of this app; most importantly the trending DMI levels. Very disappointed with no projected date for an impending “bug fix” in sight. Just that “we’re working on it”. This should be an easy fix as the coding for this feature was in previous versions of the MySugr app. C’mon folks. Get your act together. This device and its app are not toys, it a medical device and accompanying app that a lot of people depend upon. “We’ll get to it” is an unacceptable response for a known bug fix for a medical device. It should be addressed with the highest priority. No excuse for releasing medical software updates with bugs and no timeline for fixing the problem.

  3. 5/5I am using this for my dog child, just so you know…

first of all, I am concurrently also testing with the Pettest blood glucose meter. I ran out of pet test strips and was in a bind because I had not received my mail order strips specifically for dog blood with my dog eat… so I did a fairly exhaustive search online for the most accurate human meter that was available that could help me in an emergency situation. At least get a ballpark for my dog. I have to say this meter on these strips are a godsend. I chose this company’s meters because of the BG range that it tested. I realize that it is not 100% accurate, but in truth, every drop of blood is going to test differently, just from my own experience. It’s darn close though, and in a pinch, I can pick up this meter and the matching strips for an amount of money that doesn’t hurt me, and I can in the very least do my best to keep my dog out of the danger zone. And… I absolutely love the app!!!! I love the tags. I love the notes that I can take, I love being able to just scroll through and see what the numbers have been over a week, knowing what my dog has eaten, knowing how she felt uncertain days… I love this app. It helps me feel a bit more confident in what I’m doing… Especially since she can’t tell me. Thank you. Guide Me and this adorable app… And you even make me giggle along with your little emoji… 🫠🫶🏽 PS- if if you would like to be a test a dog version??? Please count me in!🐾

  4. 5/5Nice stable app

Nice stable app for recording sugars and medications and viewing trends. The “slaying the monster” approach is used as a lighthearted incentive (and you can turn off the audio when you tire of it). The free version is definitely useful. The subscription version might be nice if you have a meter that syncs data with mySugr covered by your health plan (mine doesn’t). There are some extra features available in the subscription version (e.g., photos of meals and extra event categories/rationale), which also enable you to “earn” more points to slay the monster. My largest negative/frustration is the way it defines the minimum number of results for calculating HA1c estimates. My insurance only pays for 3 finger sticks a day (for type II), so even if I have months of data recorded, mySugr will often state it has insufficient data. Most people will visit a doctor during the day, so there will always be a partial day of data (for me that is less than 3 sticks). It does not make sense that it will provide me an estimate of HA1c at 11:59pm, but won’t at 12:01am (2 minutes later), although it has the same amount of data. Based on responses to help tickets, this is currently considered a “feature” rather than a bug. Technically, this would appear to be an easy fix [e.g., using 24 hr periods (rather than “days”) or calculating using the previous full day]. I’m guessing that changing the calculation might require a recertification cost, since it is certified as a medical device, so maybe we will see an improvement in later?

  5. 5/5By far the best glucose level tracking app!

I used an old app for many years but eventually it became incompatible with latest iOS and I had to change. I tried 6 different apps and this one trounced the competition at the time. That was 3 years ago, and since then, the app has gotten better in many ways. This service and development teams are incredible. Super-responsive, they understand when you have issues and and I’m constantly impressed with how quickly they’re able to implement changes and get them out to their users. One complaint about a recent change: If you have a meter that syncs entries directly with the app, you no longer have the ability to adjust the time of the entry. I liked to do this for times when I end up waiting 15-45 mins after testing to take my pre-meal shot, since getting precise timing of insulin injections is more important than precise timing of BG readings while fasting. Sadly, this is no longer an option and instead the only option is to delete the synced entry and recreate it manually, which is MUCH more painful. I wish they would restore users’ the ability to manage their own data how they see fit.

Annoying "turn on Bluetooth" box. I'm using app on this secondary device. I'm unable to block the intrusive request to prevent the box reminding me to enable Bluetooth. On primary iOS device it's stuck on "loading data" plus its ridiculously slow.
