  1. 1/5Needs key features to be useful over MAL

I just got this app as im fed up with using MAL however its still missing some features to be my deal all around anime app and I really want it to be as your super close. 1. There should be some way where you can search a anime like My hero academia (Boku no hero) and just click that anime and add it to your list. From there you should be able to see all of its seasons and mark off what you have completed etc. searching every season individually and adding it to your list is time consuming and just super not worth it, especially when I already did this with MAL and im looking for a reason to change to your platform. 2. When going through episodes to check off which is completed it might help To have a brief episode description in order to not have to go back and google what happened in the last episode you remember watching if you can't remember the episode number. 3. When searching a anime with a long title like "is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon..." there is absolutely no way in knowing what season your choosing as the title hits the limit and you have to either memorize what season cover art each one has or tap each one and read what season it is. All avoidable if there was a option to just click the anime and see each of its seasons.

  2. 4/5Love the App but there’s one issue…

I think by far this is the best app to integrate with AniList, it’s super easy to use and UI wise it’s as beautiful as the official website of AniList. However, there’s one issue I personally have with this App and it’s the “Background Refresh” feature, which I’ve never seen it work regardless of always having the app in the background. It could pass, 8,12,24hs and I’ve never seen it update my “Watching” shows, I’m constantly watching different episodes of various shows as they air and even after progress being automatically synced directly towards my AniList account. Whenever I open the App I have to manually refresh the “Anime” tab window in order to see all the progress up-to-date. If the app somehow improved how often it refresh progress in the background, that would make it just perfect in my book and it’s why I don’t give it the full 5 stars just for that one annoying issue. Hopefully, this feedback gets seen by the developer and he can double check that feature alone and if it’s working properly cause, I’ve not seeing that. With all settings turned on.

  3. 4/5Good App But Has Problems

So I have been using Anilist exclusively for the past 3 years. I have experimented with all the popular Anime tracking websites like MAL, Kitsu, AnimePlanet, etc.. By far I think Anilist is the best. It has the cleanest interface of all the previously mentioned websites. A pretty active community and many sub communities to joins. I also like that most of the manga I read are also on the site. I have liked trashy Chinese manhua for a long time now and most of them are completely missing on MAL. Kitsu and Animeplanet usually have them as well but I much rather use the site that is appealing to my eyes compared to Kitsu and Animeplanet which looks like barf on a screen. This app is pretty great it’s connected to your Anilist account and makes updating your page much simpler to do. It has a clean interface and navigating it is pretty simple. It also has follower counts which the website doesn’t have for some reason. A few complaints tho. One complaint I have is rearranging the order of your favourites is impossible. I wanted to change the positioning of my favourite characters and doing this on the website is seamless. Just navigate to favourites tab and change it. But on the app there is literally no option to do this. Another complaint I have is that the HTML Markdowns that I made in the bio of my profile are not able to be viewed in the app. These are both kinda minor for me as using the app isn’t the main way I consume Anilist and honestly I wouldn’t really care if these two problems never get fixed. I mainly use the app for whenever I want to log something but I don’t want to look the site up on my phone or pull out my computer.

  4. 5/5Fantastic, but not COMPLETELY flawless as catalog/information App…

Although this app is fantastic and great, still a thing or two does bug me that has never been noticeably been fixed. My main issue is that none of the texts, whether on a main page or an entry page, the text is always one single color and that’s fine. It’s suddenly gets distracting and difficult to read if the background has a banner that is too light in color or too dark to differentiate the app’s screen background. All I’m simply saying is to please simply give all the white informational text some kind of colored outline to differentiate it against a whiter background of any entry. All the other colors for texts are already fine since they technically have a certain actual color within them already, but it is still hard sometimes. One more complaint that I have is that only advertising In-App the episodes of shows only available on CrunchyRoll the streaming platform for anime, forgive me if that’s some kind of contract or otherwise legal strategy that AniList is in a partnership with, but I feel it would even be more accessible, if per say, any legal streaming site that had its own specific Anime on it was advertised with the episode listing for watch availability just like this app currently does for Crunchyroll. Even if it’s only most-popular on that one platform. Despite being on multiple others. But streaming the issue is just a nitpick. The text is the real issue for me. Other than that, the app is all-in-all so far is fantastic.

  5. 5/5It was really good until I got banned for using it

I use this app a lot, almost daily, to track all the anime I’ve watched (137 completed)(180 planned)(15 watching)(60 on hold). Recently, however, MAL had an update to where if you marked to many anime done, on hold, or updated the amount of episodes watched consecutively it would place a ban on your IP address. I don’t know the reason behind this, probably a security reason, but it is frustrating nonetheless. At first I read my ban would last a few hours but its been well over 2 days! I proceeded to the FAQ to try and find a way to fix it but I’ve had no luck figuring it out. This isn’t that big of a deal, as I’m sure it’ll fix itself, but like I said it is frustrating. However, the app is still really useful for viewing the upcoming seasonal anime, and also any anime you search up. It has had literally every anime I’ve ever searched listed and with a super detailed synopsis attached. It’s a super easy to use app that’s helped me out a lot over my anime watching career. Im giving it a 4/5 since my IP is banned, once thats fixed ill update to 5/5.
