  1. 1/5Half baked

A number of issues with Leviton. First, you have to add each device to the Home app and Leviton app separately (assuming you want to control via Home and get firmware updates via Leviton). This is a pain as it requires two separate steps and does not always work in the Home app the first time around - should be able to add in one and have it appear in both just like Eve, Nanoleaf, Yale/August, etc. Second, devices randomly go no response in Home and (less frequently in the Leviton app) - despite strong WiFi and solid, stable connections on all other WiFi devices. Third, do not join the early access program to use Matter. My 27 switches and dimmers will not connect to HomeKit when a HomePod is the Hub…these are the only devices I have with this issue…work just fine when AppleTV is the Hub but we obviously can’t (at this point) control which Apple device is the hub. You also cannot unenroll from the EAP without deleting your account and starting from scratch with each device. Fourth, the app used to let you decide when to update the firmware, which was great when you did not want to roll buggy EAP firmware to all of your devices. After the app update yesterday, all of my switches and dimmers automatically updated to the buggy EAP matter update that I was trying to avoid. Amazing how smart home can be this dumb in 2024. I’d rather use candles at this point.

  2. 3/5Controls are a bit jumpy and they tend to lag

I am leaving the rating as a neutral review but these are my reasons why for my review. Prior to the update the interface for the dimming control was a bit outdated. The new interface for the dimming control looks much nicer but after trying to adjust the dimmer setting in my house with just one movement my lights began to change by themselves. They seemed like the slider would go all the way up all the way down and back up and back down at least 4 times then the slider would change to a lower or higher setting than what I tried moving it to prior. This happened multiple time to both of my dimmers. The UI is nice, just need to workout that bug and also add a setting to be able to type in a number for the dimmers percentage, so if we want something like 50%, 13%, 35%, or 28% (for example) we can tap on the box next to the slider that shows the current percentage of the dimmer and type the number of percentage we’d like in manually, preferably just have a numbered keyboard pop up not the full keyboard. I do like the way the new UI looks for that on the app.

  3. 1/5Horrible Product - Constantly lose device connections

I am very sad that such a reliable analog lighting control company entered into “smart home” space with such a horrible user experience and half-baked integration with Apple HomeKit. This is a light bulb people. Turn on or turn off, get that part bullet proof, this should NEVER fail. The app and Leviton Gateway never remain connected to each other or display accurate status. Sometime app displays you connected devices on dashboard as connected but when you try to control them, nothing happens. The app thinks it is talking to light switch but switch never gets the command. Other times the app shows devices as unconnected in dashboard yet shows the on/off status indicator as green, meaning light is on - in reality it is OFF and vice-versa. Present state and most frustrating is app has no connectivity to devices. Yet both iPhone & Leviton Gateway are connected to dedicated WiFi network, that is very stable. Lighting connectivity and control should be 100% reliable. Imagine being remote on vacation or away from home and not being able to depend on lighting or programmed schedules. I am so disappointed and dissatisfied with Leviton’s brand. I want to throw these away and get an Apple HomeKit reliable partner.

  4. 5/5Reliable, Clean, and Built for Real-World Smart Homes

I’ve standardized on the Leviton D26HD throughout my home, and honestly, that decision simplified everything. These dimmers feel less like “smart gadgets” and more like professional-grade electrical hardware that happens to be smart. The connection is stable, response time is fast, and once they’re on the network, they stay there — which is exactly what you want from lighting you depend on daily. What stands out most is consistency. Dimming is smooth, scenes trigger reliably, and automations run without drama. The design is clean and modern without looking techy or out of place on the wall — a big win if you care about a polished, intentional home aesthetic like I do. Pair that with straightforward firmware updates and solid Wi-Fi performance, and the D26HD becomes a quiet workhorse behind the scenes. If your goal is a smart lighting system that feels refined, dependable, and built for real-world living — not constant tweaking — the Leviton D26HD delivers.

  5. 3/5Love it!!! (When it works)

I love this switch! The functionality, even the look of it. But man does it give me problems! And so randomly! I have 2 switches. One for my kitchen for 4 can lights and one in the dining room for hanging lights. Ive also got them connected to google home too. I’ve never had a problem with the dining room light. Works so smooth every time I tell google home to turn on/off or dim them. But the kitchen is a different story. I’ve had to reset it about once a week because it doesn’t respond to my command or work from the app. But today, the lights were stuck on! Couldn’t turn them off manually from the switch nor would it let me reset the switch itself. Had to turn the power off. It’s getting real annoying. More than anything, even over how cool it functions my command and phone, I need a switch that will be consistent and don’t have to continually deal with. With half my experience, this is not the case. Again, one of them has been great! No problems. But the other has been nothing but a hassle. So it’s kind of a crap shoot on whether you’ll buy one with a problem or not
