  1. 4/5App that clearly still requires work but has great potential

I would submit a support request to your team however when I attempt to do so I receive the odd surprise of being bounced to a Page that presents in what looks like French with a tattoo enter button and it says private beta coming soon. This app is still requiring work as when I attempt to import my PDF files I get database not ready please restart app and try again messages. Same if I try EPUB files. Everything on the screen so far appears to be clearly labelled but I can’t test the player screen without uploading a file. Also every time I start the app, it behaves as if I never started the app in my life when I started it multiple times. Fix these bugs and I will rate the app according to it potential not its current function. This rating is for current function. still waiting for TestFlight link in my email. I did attempt to email you but never received a response so please feel free to post the link in the review response box. Thank you.

  • 1.3.0
  • 1.4.0

Performance & large-book improvements: • Large books open instantly — reader now displays the first section immediately while the rest loads in the background (tested with War and Peace, 11 000+ blocks) • PDF import is up to 2× faster — font-analysis skips dense prose pages that have no headings, and block parsing now runs on multiple CPU cores in parallel • EPUB import is significantly faster — chapters are parsed concurrently across CPU cores (War and Peace: 368 chapters parsed in parallel) • Scrolling during narration no longer stutters — only the two blocks that change (active / inactive) are re-rendered on each word update; unchanged blocks are skipped entirely • Smooth auto-scroll to distant blocks — jumps of more than 50 blocks skip the animation so the view reaches the active passage instantly instead of scrolling past thousands of blocks • Memory footprint for large books is lower — CoreData fetches only 50 block records at a time instead of the entire document at once • Added a last-resort HTML fallback using WebKit rendering for malformed EPUB chapters that previously imported as blank blocks

  • 1.4.1

Bug fixes: • Fixed a crash when importing EPUB files via the iOS Share Extension • Fixed duplicate blocks appearing when re-opening a large book • Stability improvements for large-book features introduced in 1.4.0

  • 1.7.0

What's new in v1.7.0: • A sweeping visual refresh — Penguin-classics monograms on every book cover, serif typography across the reading experience, and a pixel-perfect player bar inspired by the best of Kindle and Audible. • Project Gutenberg, Open Library and Internet Archive built right into Discover — 70,000+ classics, one tap away. • Live neural narration — start listening the moment you tap Play, with word-perfect highlighting that streams while audio is still being generated. • Reading stats that actually feel good — beautifully typeset streaks, time-read, and gentle nudges. • Hundreds of small polish moments across every screen — better empty states, tighter spacing, more humane copy. • Reliability and accessibility fixes throughout.

  • 1.8.10

What's new in this update: • A new Download Manager that actually keeps track of your books. Tap to download from Project Gutenberg, Internet Archive, or any catalog, and your queue follows you across every screen — pause it, retry a failed download, or cancel something you no longer want, all without losing your place. • A live progress banner now appears on the library home whenever a download is in flight. One tap opens the full manager. • Catalog downloads restored — fixed a regression that prevented some Project Gutenberg and Internet Archive titles from completing. • Downloads now survive an app relaunch. Closed the app mid-download? It picks up where it left off. • Smarter tier handling — if your library is full, Free users now see the upgrade prompt up front instead of after a half-finished download. • Comprehensive new test coverage across import, catalog browse, download, narration and playback. Future regressions get caught before they ever reach you. Thanks for reading with Murmura.

  • 1.9.0

What's new in 1.9.0 — three breakthroughs nobody else in the category has: • AUTO CAST — every character gets their own voice. Murmura detects who is speaking each line of dialogue and casts a distinct voice automatically. Your novels read like radio dramas, with zero setup, fully on-device. Enable in Settings → Character Voices. • QUICK START — zero-wait playback. The on-device voice begins instantly while the studio neural voice loads, then hands off seamlessly at the next paragraph. Enable in Settings → Narration → How playback starts. • SMART CHAPTER DETECTION — Murmura now reads "CHAPTER I", "Part One", and section headings inside your PDFs and EPUBs and turns them into a proper audiobook table of contents. Start any chapter independently. Per-chapter audio generation makes even 600-page novels listenable in seconds. Plus: • On-device AI summaries (long-press any paragraph on iOS 26+ devices). • New 70,000-book empty-state rail seeded from Project Gutenberg classics. • Bug fixes and reliability improvements across narration, downloads, and library.

  • 1.9.16

What's new in 1.9.5 • STABILITY & PERFORMANCE — Fixed crashes during narration. Memory-bounded audio rendering prevents out-of-memory on large documents. • BACKGROUND AUDIO FIX — Lock-screen and Control Center controls now persist when navigating between screens. • REDESIGNED LIBRARY — Cleaner layout with hero section, faster search, and prominent import button. • SETTINGS OVERHAUL — Split into Appearance, Narration, Storage, and About sub-screens. • SIMPLIFIED PAYWALL — Three clear options: Free, Pro Monthly, Pro Lifetime. • ACCESSIBILITY — Full Dynamic Type support across all screens. • ONBOARDING — New voice selection page so you hear Murmura before importing. • SHARING — Share chapter excerpts as branded cards from the reader. • Bug fixes and reliability improvements.

  • 1.9.30

What's new: • ZERO-ALLOCATION WORD TRACKING — Active word highlighting now uses in-place textStorage mutations with zero memory allocation per word change. Buttery smooth at 60fps. • KARAOKE-STYLE HIGHLIGHT — Active word now has a subtle amber background glow + thick underline for much better visibility during narration. • SMOOTH PER-WORD AUTO-SCROLL — Text now smoothly follows each word as it's spoken (not just per-paragraph). Feels like Kindle Whispersync. • BACKGROUND CHAPTER CONTINUITY — Fixed issue where background playback stopped between chapters. • TOC NAVIGATION FIX — Table of contents navigation now properly syncs audio to the selected chapter. • Bug fixes and performance improvements.

  • 1.9.31

What's new in 1.9.31 • SMOOTHER NARRATION — Reduced CPU usage during playback by 50%. Word tracking and auto-scroll now run at optimal frequency with zero wasted work. • SMOOTHER AUTO-SCROLL — Text follows the narrated word with less jitter. Scroll animations are longer and only trigger when the active word drifts far enough off-center. • LARGE BOOK NARRATION — Books without chapter headings reliably generate audio. Documents are intelligently split so narration never fails due to size limits. • CHAPTER-BY-CHAPTER AUDIO — Each section gets its own audio file with proper word-level sync. • KARAOKE-STYLE HIGHLIGHT — Active word has amber background glow + thick underline for better visibility. • Bug fixes and performance improvements.

  • 1.9.33

What's new in 1.9.33 - FIX: App no longer crashes at launch due to a duplicate keyboard shortcut conflict on iOS 26. - PERFORMANCE: All regex patterns are now pre-compiled at startup, eliminating repeated compilation during EPUB import, web article parsing, and TTS processing. - PERFORMANCE: Downloads screen loads cache status instantly. - Bug fixes and stability improvements.

  • 1.9.34 · 29 Jun 2026

What's new in 1.9.34 • READ ALONG — The sentence you're hearing is now gently highlighted as it's read aloud, so it's easier to follow along on the page. • IMPORT MORE — Open Word (.docx) files, and import scanned PDFs with on-device text recognition. • VOICES — Instant voice previews and refreshed voice artwork make choosing a narrator faster. • PLAYER — Cover art and a smooth speed slider in the full-screen player. • A warmer, more cohesive look throughout the app. • Bug fixes and stability improvements.
