  1. 5/5Most sophisticated CW app by a mile

I learned CW on this app, mixed with MorseMania. MorseMania is good for learning straight key and the letter/number quiz is good, but beyond that, Morse-It is the clear winner in the CW iOS game. I have a vband (USB interface device) and connect my key to my iPhone. Inside Morse-It, I set the custom keyboard to left and right CTRL buttons, which is what the vband emulates. Now I have a portable CW trainer. I’ve used it on the airplane, in hotels and on my couch to drill. The use of variables and Macros is what takes the app beyond anything else available. I was able to setup a simple Macro for custom callsigns and can drill them in Koch mode. The developer is active on the forum and helpful. I’m happy to be a paid user!

  2. 1/5Was Excellent 👎

Was a Beautiful app. "Now their ripping people off with subscription fees, with the excuse of their providing new upgrades, that I don’t care about.” 😡 (( subscriptions are for magazines. )) - Some applications require regular updates because much of their content changes, monthly or at least bimonthly. I have a number of large and complex applications that are not only for phones but computers too, that almost never need updates. It’s because they were very well thought out, and written well to begin with. Eventually some of the apps offered some great extras if you wanted them, but they worked wonderful all by themselves. The one time expense of the extras varied according to their content or complexity. Some were very nice, and I did purchase them. (Subscription was never mentioned). What’s to prevent you from changing your other applications to subscriptions. "I have kept your app as a novelty, and I know most people don’t even use morris anymore.” I won’t pay an unnecessary subscription for an unnecessary novelty application. It’s kinda like a fidget spinner, because it’s sort of fun to play with once in a while, and it’s educational. So don’t get me wrong, because it was great the way it was.

  3. 4/5Truly an amazing app if only...

...the lack of documentation didn’t serve to keep most of it’s awesome features a mystery! It is completely maddening to know there is must be a feature that does this or that only to be left to stumble around in the dark. It is certainly an Apple standard to build a product so well-designed that no instructions are necessary — do you have any idea how much work it is to attain that standard?! You are not even close! Please, please document this application. it is not nearly as much fun as developing a wicked cool app, but I can guarantee it would be the best CW application ever if only people could know what it can and does do! And please, take a look at what text and vids you to have out there — it is most misleading, inadequate, or assumes the user can read your minds.

  4. 5/5Get it

I use a paddle interface from Ham Radio Solutions and an iambic paddle from American Morse Equipment with this app. It’s an amazing tool for learning CW. You could easily learn CW with only this app. Highly recommended. Update: The developer is very interactive and very receptive to ideas. I’ve watched this app evolve. It’s so good. I’m doing CW Ops classes and it’s very easy to make macros for all of the material from that course. This allows me to do course work anywhere, any time without having to use a PC app. This app does everything all of those other apps do and more. I could not be happier. I think we’re very lucky to have a learning tool like this.

  5. 5/5Great for practicing listening

The Koch trainer feature of this app is great, very customizable! There's one weird bug though, whenever it spells "km" (which is common since those are the the first few letters you learn), it reads it out as "kilometers", rather than "km". And if you change the mode to spelling only, it spells it as "K-I-L-O-M-E-T-E-R-S", even more confusingly! Edit: it seems that changing voices away from the system voice is a workaround for this bug. Hopefully that can still be fixed pretty soon, it's one of the best voice options!

Thank you for using Morse-it! Here are the changes since last time: • Social : The first month of the Morse-it Social Club is currently about 50% off, so this is a good time to try out all the features of the app! The main price has also been reduced in most countries. • Social / Parrot Game : Ability to view the game analysis after the game is over. • Social / Guess the Animal : Fix for a possible problem of the game displaying an incorrect number of letters. • Learning / Work : New Work screen allowing to quickly enter (or generate) some specific text and use this text with the Koch trainer, the Sending trainer, or the audio player (which can be used when the application is in the background). • Learning / Koch : It is now possible to set an additional delay between words. This can give you time to read and analyze the word before hearing it, or give you time to write the word before the next one. • Learning / Macros : In the Settings screen, it is possible to change the main action to be performed when a macro is selected (playback/encode/edit/work/display/...). Long press on a macro to select a different option if necessary. • Variables : The variable value is now processed in case it contains some dynamic content. • Variables : When creating a variable with the [variable_start ...] keyword, it is now possible to make the variable dynamic so that it can update the value at each display. • Variables : Ability to repeat a variable a given number of times, using the [repeat_variable ...] keyword. • Glossary, Macros, Web : long press on an item to bring a context menu (also accessible with voiceover actions). • Wallpaper : New presets for Device (image size) and Device margins (content margins). They will automatically change according to your device orientation. • Minor fixes and improvements.

It is still possible to use the chat and forum features, which can be used for almost the same purpose. • Social : New Annual subscription, at a more attractive global price. (if you want to migrate to this subscription from the monthly one, open the Settings app, tap your name, tap Subscriptions). • Social : New Game "Wordle" : Guess the 5-letter word by sending valid words with shared letters. • 11.5

Thank you for using Morse-it! Here are the changes since last time: • This release focuses on new features that are useful not only for accessibility, but also for fun and ease of use. They are disabled by default. • Tap : Audio announcements for recognized letters or words. This lets you know if what you have typed has been correctly decoded without having to look at the screen. For disabled users, it is now possible to tap Morse code to make the phone say the words. • Koch Trainer : Audio announcements to hear the word being translated. This way you can practice copying by associating a sound with text without having to look at the screen. This works even when the application is in the background. • Sending trainer : Audio announcements to hear the word to send, the success or failure result, and the letters or words actually sent. Useful to practice sending without having to look at the screen. • Audio announcements can be configured (in the settings screen) to work with different voices and languages. • Audio alternatives: Visual feedback can add a blinking area below the navigation bar during copy. This way you can use the whole application without any audio output. • Audio alternatives: Haptic feedback can be triggered during each Morse code sound. Another way to use the whole application without any audio output. • Hardware interface: Support for the Open Bracket and Close Bracket HID keys to support the TinyMIDI hardware (MIDI mode already works perfectly, but this enables keyboard mode as well). • The Settings shortcut (in the Options menu) is also accessible from the 3 Trainers in the Work screen, the Tap screen, and the Decode screen. The audio, global, and user interface-specific settings are now accessible from these shortcuts. • A new System Integration section has been added to the Settings screen to present the Widget and Shortcuts feature. • Fixed an issue in quiz endless mode that could prevent the text entry from being automatically reset. • Minor fixes and improvements.

  • 11.5.1

    • Added ARRL Section Abbreviations as a macro list (thanks to Aaron for his help). • Fixed a problem that wouldn't stop the optional vibration when the Koch trainer or audio player is paused. • Fixed a problem that prevented the error prosign from being recognized.

  • 11.6

    • Macros: Ability to easily import some text into multiple macro list items by entering items separated by a new line character. • Quiz: Ability to press the Enter key to validate the text/Morse input (mainly useful in endless mode, for keyboard only manipulation). • Audio Announcements: Workaround to prevent text normalization in spell mode that could occur with some voices.

  • 11.6.1

    Small fixes.

  • 11.6.2

    Small fixes.

Audio Noise Enhancements: • Replaced basic white noise with a more realistic audio hiss, featuring adjustable frequency and sharpness. • Added QRN simulation for authentic pops and static crackles. • Introduced QSB (fading) and Flutter (tone instability) effects for realistic signal variation. • You can now preview your noise configuration during playback or audio file generation. • During training sessions (like Cards or Sending), the background noise remains audible for a more immersive experience.

Fixed an issue that prevented the microphone input from being used in the Card Trainer screen.

The ability to specify different sounds for sending and copying was added. You can choose different volume, tone, frequency, and fade settings for each mode, or keep the same sound for both.

  • 11.9.1

A possible issue on Mac that prevented in-app purchases from being restored has been fixed.
