  1. 5/5Wow. Simple, Powerful, Sounds Amazing

Updated - So basically you get 9 AUv3 apps (as of now, new are added often) packed inside this app. Waverly AU is the single instrument, but it sounds so rich, and has several great yet inexpensive IAP. That’s because all sounds are carefully sampled from the real analog sources. The initial 50+ Presets, (more with IAP) are some common waveforms, ie. Saw, etc. and some more complex sounds as well. It sounds so full and rich, it’s great. Then there are 8 AU effects as of now, reverb, delay, filter, EQ, distortion, limiter, etc... The effects are great for shaping the AU Waverly unit into something more. It is polyphonic except for the Bass presets. I was on the fence, do I really need this, type thing, but the interface is super clean, easy to use, and understand. It sounds amazing, and you get a lot for your buck. The sounds are great for making some classic synth sounds, pads, leads, bass, etc. Some are heavily processed for some amazing atmospheres. Then some Amazing IAP Guitar, piano, strings, etc... You could build a multitimbral synth in AUM using a couple Waverly instances. Just saying. I heard the sound of the app on The Sound Test Room video, and decided for $5 (initial price) I’ll try it. I’m so glad I did. I’m definitely using these sounds in my actual songs not just for sketching ideas, or place holding. Real Quality here. All 9 included AUv3’s are great. App is also low on CPU/DSP. Amazing app with great sounds. Get it.

  2. 5/5Very Impressed

First of all, this is one of those apps that gives you multiple effects and a synth within in one. I love the waverley instruments, so many great sounds, very easy to play with the effects and make them your own. I love that I can use the effects anywhere. I wasn’t so sure if I would get used to the different layout than most auv3s, but I absolutely love it. They just added two new effects now too, we are at 7 apps practically for the price of one. Great dev, another great app. Don’t hesitate.

  3. 1/5Crashes on exporting audio always

Edit 10/6: corrected 234 or so grammar errors 🤦🏻‍♂️ To the developer’s / Rob’s response: Thank you for the fast reply. I normally wouldn’t write a review as a form of tech-support. It is usually unfair or counterproductive. However in this case it was deliberate. The reason being, while it is unusual random bad luck in this case that a single issue could potentially prevent people from using the plugins at all after purchase, I would stilll want to be aware of that before buying. On the other hand, that choice makes it incumbent on me to respect the work and immediately update the review as soon as anything changes. For anyone reading this in fairness I should point out: - it’s simply impossible to write software without bugs. For Google or for one developer. One issue rarely stops use of an app, but it still doesn’t correlate to the quality of an app overall. - Remember, most developers do this out of love, 99% are not getting rich. Most couldn’t pay their bills with the App Store even with some success. - From what I’ve seen in responses, Rob is a conscientious and well intentioned developer. If you want to judge quality, I think that’s one of the best stand alone measurements you can use in the long run. Original review ——————————————— The plug-in seems to work fine using it as an instrument, but when you export audio it crashes the whole app hard.I’ve tried garage band and Cubasis 3.x, can’t get audio out of either of them. It’s kind of annoying since I took a chance to support the app and paid for it without many reviews. Edit 10/6: removed speculation that the cause was related to required iOS 14 changes after clarification from the developer.

  4. 5/5It’s great. It’s simple. It’s diverse.

I usually write reviews about products i appreciate and find to be awesome bemut somehow slightly lacking. Moodunits however is pretty spot on. My only gripes are that it wasn’t clear presale exactly what it was ( that being super easy to edit auv3 synth packs and some added solid auv3 fx compressor, delay, reverb, etc) and other than that the graphics? could use a bit of polish because the sound is super future but the logo is a bit kinkos?🥰

  5. 5/5MU Store Error!

The current update fixed my IAP/Download issue! Great job Rob! ---- I downloaded/updated MU with the latest update. At first no change. Same thing, so I deleted and re-installed MU. Everything downloaded ok except for the same three instruments; Factory, Stringz and MoBass. For those three I still get the 'MU Store Error: Download could not be started. If this problem persists please re-launch the app or restart your device.' ---- Unable to download any purchased instrument. Only see MU Store Error. Tried rebooting device. Tried re-installing MU. Same thing. Restore purchases seem to work just not any of the instruments. Obviously, my internet is fine. Please fix it!

    • Workaround for issue with failed MU Store purchases (error messages were confusing the restore process) And in case you missed the previous update, there's a new free download: • ARC... The Alternate Reality Choir. Otherworldly synthetic voices from another dimension with optional Sci-Fi effects! And finally... PLEASE READ IF YOU'RE EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH DOWNLOADS / PURCHASE RESTORES: I'm sorry that some folks are still having issues with downloads. Sadly, in most cases this is due to circumstances beyond my control and while it does seem to be getting better / less frequent, that's no consolation if you're one of the unlucky few being affected. I know this can be VERY frustrating. Fortunately, there are things we can do to work around problems and clear errors, but I need your help. I need to know the EXACT error message(s) you receive and which instrument(s) failed to download or restore. I'm afraid simply saying "download failed" or similar, isn't enough for me to go on - I need the EXACT wording. Please send this info via the contact form at moodunits.biz and we'll work through the problems together. In some cases, I might ask for screenshots, so if you get errors, it's worth grabbing those when they occur if you can - that would be great. Thanks, -Rob

  • 1.6.8

    • reduced download size of main app slightly - sorry it's not terribly exciting, but this has been bugging me for a while

  • 1.6.9

Added new Support URL. Added note about IAP downloads. Basically, Apple are no longer hosting new IAP download data and this was a major area where moodunits was intended to grow. Existing IAPs should still work fine, but sadly there will be no more new instruments - what you see in the MU Store is what's available - end of story :-(

  • 1.7.0 · 22 Mar 2025

Workaround added for a parameter slider issue that seems to be related to a recent iOS update: When updating a slider on the UI, this could also result in another slider moving in tandem! This workaround means that the slider will not update the AudioUnit continuously, when the slider is in motion.
