5/5Midi ProX for Korg Volgas & Logic
This app is amazing and is organized exceptionally well. I purchased MIDI Designer Pro X for better control over Volca Beats/Bass and in order to tweak Logic Pro. I send all of my MIDI signals through my Mac which makes it a super easy process. As a beginner having the Korg layout as a starting point was ideal. Ive been loving playing with this in my studio, and I’m stoked to use it at an outdoor event next. I’m utilizing just the free version for now, but am excited to crack open the premium when I get to my next level

5/5Steep learning curve, but extremely versatile.
It really isn’t difficult once you understand it, but the interface definitely takes some getting used to. Once you do, you’ll be able to whip up a custom control set in no time. I’ve barely scratched the surface so far. My semi modular synth only had a couple of assignable parameters, but there are over a dozen different options for one of the outputs on the patch bay that is buried deep in a menu (on a synth with no screen). I quickly figured out how to make a grid of buttons to send out the program change signal for each one. Now I can change the parameter instantly without having to even open the menu. The app is definitely function over form, but gives you the tools to quickly design and program a MIDI control surface for your hardware and software synths, and any other conceivable use for it. Not to mention the integration with a MIDI-based scripting language. The possibilities really do seem endless. I do hope the interface is easier to navigate in future updates. It is very difficult to make things look nice, and feels like the interface works against you. However, the devs are still active and frequently updating. I can imagine they have plans to streamline everything once they have most of the functionality set and major bugs squashed.

5/5Beautiful, flexible, and powerful MIDI design platform
I actually bought TouchOSC and a few of the other MIDI design apps before looking at this one - scared off by the larger price tag. That was mistake, and one I am glad to have corrected by shifting all of my MIDI control needs to MIDI Designer Pro 2. There’s a pretty good wealth of community content available (a template for UNO Synth got me hooked), but if understand even basic MIDI principles, you’ll soon prefer to make your own controls. I created a template for my Roland TR-08 and was amazed how easy it was to put together and how everything just WORKED. There are even subtle touches, like how the drumpads or keys respond to velocity differently based on where you touch the pad. I’m mostly “function over form”, but there’s some great tools to help you make your projects look nicer if that interests you, as well. A lot of hardware synths have “hidden” features delegated to CC messages, or are simply difficult to execute on the face of the device. MIDI Designer Pro 2 allows you to reimagine both the programming and performance interface of your device - to set it up the way YOU want it. Support for Bluetooth LE MIDI connectivity is also appreciated. There’s some occasional stability/crash issues and I would like to see just a few more customization options for faders, knobs and pads. But this is an amazing app and really does not require you to be a MIDI expert to get going and create your own templates.

5/5Big creative problem solver
I was really frustrated that one of my favorite Moog synthesizers had no iPad app for deeper controls and, even simply easily knowing which preset I was on. iOS is mainly where I do my midi sequencing, synth patch editing. So it was annoying to have to unplug the iPad rig and hook up a computer. A few hours of setup (and a good bit of that was me wanting it to be cosmetically matching the synth) and I have a fully functional ‘app’ to control stuff with. If you understand midi, I dont think it is a bad learning curve. Only thing I had to hunt online for guidance for was more advanced, changing the midi channel of the whole panel with one button. Found a dev tutorial easy though.

5/5Best app for Virtual Organs
MidiDesigner Pro is the best midi controller app for Virtual Organs such as Hauptwerk (HW) and GrandOrgue (GO). Its capabilities are far better than traditional organ controller interfaces such as Touchscreen Monitors, Launchpad, Touch OSC, Luna Display, etc. Coupled with Stream Byter it allows many enhanced functions not possible with HW or GO by themselves. While there is a bit of learning curve, it is worth it. I have developed such layouts as custom button placement, master generals and Combo steppers with PreSet starting steps to allow one touch selection and Up/Down sequencing of steps, Automatic registration setting, etc, None of this functionality would be possible without MidiDesigner Pro. I have worked with several organists to develop layouts for different organs who are extremely happy with using MDP. I have strong recommendations for organists to try it out.

10.10.0
Welcome to MIDI Designer Pro X 10.10.0, the 100th update since the app first launched in 2012. This release introduces a fully rebuilt Community Browser as a native experience across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It is faster, more responsive, and feels at home on every device. We also added scrolling labels in Design and Config modes, which makes working with longer and more descriptive labels much easier, especially in more verbose languages (e.g., Spanish). We also completed a broad round of bug fixes, including a particularly tricky issue affecting the loading of legacy iPhone layouts on iPhone. Thanks! 101 updates in, and we've got a big one: MIDI Designer Pro X now runs as an AUv3 plugin. Load it right inside AUM, Loopy Pro, Cubasis, and any other AUv3-compatible host. Build your custom controller once, set up routing once, and have it travel with your session from then on. Send MIDI to other plugins in your host, and route it onward to wherever your host can reach. We're also soft-launching Korean language support — give it a try and let us know how it feels. 감사합니다! 10.15.0
102 updates in, and we're bringing haptics to iPhone. Now any button, knob, slider, cross-fader, or XY pad can respond with a tactile pulse when you touch it — a quick physical confirmation that you've hit the right control. Especially useful when your eyes are on your gear instead of your screen. Enable Haptics per control in the Advanced design panel. Haptics are an iPhone-only feature — neither iPad nor Mac hardware supports the Taptic Engine, so this one's exclusive to iPhone users. This release also contains multiple bug fixes and performance improvements. Thanks! MIDI Designer Team Questions: Do you have questions about MIDI Designer? 10.20.0
10.20.0 is a big one: Multiple Selection is now available in Design Mode. Drag across an empty part of the canvas to lasso a group of controls. Once selected, you can drag the whole group into place, or use Actions to copy, delete, change type, change aspect, make similar, or send controls to back. If you've ever rearranged a layout one control at a time, this should feel immediately useful. Multiple selection touches some of MIDI Designer's deepest layout behavior, including iPad two-page layouts, pedalboards, page moves, panels, labels, image panels, and normal single-control editing. We've done the work to make those paths behave together, and we'll keep refining the details as real-world layouts push the feature further. This release also contains bug fixes and performance improvements. Thanks! MIDI Designer Team Questions: Do you have questions about MIDI Designer? 10.7.0
Get ready for the most tactile MIDI Designer Pro X ever - version 10.7.0 is here! Introducing Auto Twerk™: inertial, natural movement for your controls. The system is driven by Ableton Link and allows for Link Beat Quantization. Controls continue gliding with realistic physics. Dial in your controls with adjustable deceleration (for braking) and inertial slowing with Glue Factor. How it works: You fling a control and it continues moving with natural momentum, just like a real object would. The movement can be synchronized to your music's beat through Ableton Link, and you can dial in how quickly it slows down, too. See midiDR.com/twerkvid for more. This release also contains small fixes for: • Misleading error message when saving layouts to iCloud Drive (iPad, iPhone) • Sizing issues with default controls for initial layouts for new users (iPad) • Added a sanity checker (and fixer) for users who are stuck with the same page on both sides (iPad and Mac) Thanks! 10.8.0
This release brings Liquid Glass -- the new look in iOS/macOS 26 -- to MIDI Designer Pro X. We've also upgraded your design experience using images to make using backgrounds easier. • On iOS/macOS 26+, you can make any new or existing panel use Liquid Glass. In addition, we've added more rounding options to all panels. • We introduce Page Images so users can assign them directly to page backgrounds instead of wrestling with Image Panels. • Also, we've enhanced the tooling for images on iPad/Mac: users can make clean two-up layouts through in-app horizontal image splitting with ease. • Buttons, knobs, sliders, and XY pads can also use Liquid Glass backgrounds, adding subtle texture and blur to all layouts. • Lots of bug fixes and tweaks in upgrading to Xcode 26.
