  1. 3/5Unable to select starting point to measure

Just a fyi, not sure when the measure app stopped working but I am unable to put the starting measuring point where needed. Example: I'm trying to measure a smaller box. Tried holding my vertical and horizontal, didn't make a difference. But I can not put the starting point, on the side or the edge of the box. When getting close to the side or edge, starting point disappears. It allows me to place the starting point inside the object, close to the edge or middle let's say, but can not put on the side or edge where it's actually needed to get a better measurement. It use to be pretty useful with measurements, allowing me to pick any starting point. Please look in to this! This app has worked in the past, so not sure when it stopped working, but as it is right now, not useful. If you can't start at the beginning of a line, so picking proper starting point, all measurements will be off. Wanted to let support know so they can look in to this and get it working again.

  2. 4/5Actually Not Bad At All, Especially For A Free App

The key seems to be to take your time, make sure you have a good direct angle on what you are measuring. The biggest key is to be sure you have laid out an accurate starting point and termination point, avoid taking curvature etc into the measurement. This is an app best used with solid angle items, like boxed packages for mailing, picture framing etc. avoid curved or funky shaped items. Those would be better measured with a soft measuring tape, like the ones used to measure your waist, etc. Kind of bare-bones app but it’s free. The more feature-laden apps out there are also subscription based and can cost up to $100 a year to use. Well worth it for the professional who would use it many times a day for mission critical stuff, but if you only need an app to take an occasional measurement here and there this is a perfectly adequate app for most instances.

  3. 4/5Questionable accuracy for the surface level feature on contemporary iPhones with camera bumps.

Only reviewing /commenting on the use of the surface level feature, I use often and unsure how accurate it is which leads to question it’s usefulness on iPhones since iPhone’s camera bumps have increased in size varies between models. To be clear, I am speaking of the Level feature when laying a device flat on its back to see how level a table is for example. It may require additional work if it’s not done already but Apple should account for the discrepancy that exists on different iPhones models considering the camera bumps vary in size. Then again people have cases on their phone so unsure if this is a problem that can be solved leading to questionable usefulness of this feature.

  4. 4/5Love this app – improvements

Absolutely love this app! It’s awesome in a pinch! But I’ve always thought how cool would it be to give XY and Z coordinates from point to point. Say if I measure something on the X and Y axis it would show length and width and Delta Z would be equal to zero, but if I was measuring in all three planes it would give me dimensions from point to point for each. Also, it would be fantastic to be able to switch between length units like decimal inches, fractional inches, feet and fraction fractional inches (architectural), as well as meters, centimeters, millimeters, etc. I understand that this app and the camera and lighter scanner are limited by a tolerance of a quarter of an inch if that! That’s just my two cents, it’s been a minute since this app has had an update!

  5. 4/5Helped Me Find a Replacement Dog Bowl

I bought a stand with holes for dog food bowls; then I lost one of the bowls while traveling. The seller didn’t sell replacement bowls, and the holes turned out to be of an unusual size, for which I couldn’t find any bowls online that wouldn’t stand too high or fall through. After measuring the remaining bowl, I went to the store and used the Measure app on bowls and containers until I found one that seemed the right size. When I took the container home it fit perfectly! The only reason I gave Measure 4/5 stars is I had a little trouble figuring out how to use it. Only took me about 1 minute right there in the store though.
