1. 5/5Cute, Fun Encouraging and Free!

   I like this app for reminding me to take my prescription. It works. It also has a report feature that lists the times when I took my prescription over the past days, as a history I can refer to. Most of all, what I like is how cute, fun and encouraging this app is, and it’s free! When it’s time to take a pill, the app sends a written notification reminder and alert sound to my iPhone and also to my iWatch. And if I don’t take my pill within a few minutes “Max” (a virtual dog character), will first send me a quick bark sound as a prompt. Then, if I still haven’t taken my pill, “Max” will actually call my telephone number (since it’s ringing, it’s hard to ignore), and when I answer the phone, “Max” will simply make a barking sound on the phone. I think it’s funny! And it gets my attention, so I don’t miss taking my pill. By the way, besides “Max”, the dog, there are two other animal characters a person can choose: either a cat or a chick. … However, my favorite part on the app is when I tap that I have taken my pill, then my iPhone shows a congratulatory screen with a picture of Max the dog, the cat and chick and another icon, like a happy face, or party hat, etc. And an encouraging phrase such as “You’re So Awesome! Hang in there!” (or something like that). With streaming hearts that float up the screen, and I hear the sound “YAY” !!!! … It always cheers me up and makes me smile! :-). … I want to thank the developer for making this app, and for making it free, so everyone can use it. … It is appreciated!

2. 5/5Love the app, but poor recent update

   Update to my previous: Max was updated and Some problems were fixed and I was considering 5 stars except now Star rating has dropped to 4. I don’t like one major change. It insists on running in the background. It never had an issue before. I don’t like keeping apps open. I see no purpose for it except waste battery or track someone. Reminders drive me crazy. I have a tendency to ignore them even though I know I shouldn’t. Medication is very important. Using Max usually makes it fun to actually heed the notification. Here’s the problem: it screws up often. Not enough to delete it, but it is a problem. It’s supposed to cheer and clap when you hit the “take” button. It’ll work and then it’ll stop for quite a while then it just keeps continuing this path. Next if you don’t go in and hit “take” and try to ignore the reminder, it will call you and bark. I chose the dog Max. I don’t know if the other ones make their own respective sounds. The phone call is a choice that I like a lot. It’s fun to have a dog call you, it absolutely gets me to take what I need to. I usually try to not let it get that far. For those of you, who’s time zone changes twice a year, this app does not change automatically and you need to go in and make the corrections yourself. When Apple tells you that you need to update an app, it does not work well with this app always. You have to delete it and reinstall, which of course means you have to re-add your medication and everything concerning them back in again. That usually fixes the problem. I said usually. Keyword as it doesn’t always. Sometimes you just have to wait for a couple days and delete reinstall again. On occasion you have to wait for the next update. In spite of the issues, I still give this app a four star rating. that’s how much I like it. If they ever get this back-and-forth notification issue fixed. I will come back in and raise it to five star.

   I got this app when our elderly greyhound broke her leg. We had her surgery completed and she came home with tons of medications that were administered at various times and doses. This was terrifying to me being that I can barely remember to take a multivitamin. This made the process of scheduling and reminding me to give her the medication on time (and even log it if I wasn’t on time) a breeze. I’m so thankful to have found this right when I needed it most. It will even mimic a call to remind you. Genius! Once the development of this app progresses, it would be amazing to add notes on medication symptoms, reactions, dosage, and reasons for skipping a dose to the list. (And changing dosage time if we need to!!) This would be helpful to share with the vet to provide general patterns of behavior and progress with the medications. Either way, I’m over the moon with this and will recommend it to everyone I know-including the surgeon who performed her surgery for their patrons. Thanks so much for this app and I’ll be hanging onto it for the future.

4. 5/5Perfect, Simple, FREE!

   It's so, so, so, SO nice to find an app that does exactly what it says on the tin. I've had so many that hide basic features behind a paywall, and having an app that doesn't even *have* a paywall is such a nice change of pace. The design is cute, the call function is extremely useful, the skip function is great, and I love that it records exactly when you take a medication so, in case you're late, you still know how much time has passed so that you know you're in the right window. If I had to suggest anything to add, it would be an extra page with 'timers': you input a medication and how long you have to wait before you can take it again, then when you log that you've taken that med it starts running the clock down until it would be available again. That said, it isn't hard to do that math yourself, and I still find this pill calendar extremely useful as-is.

5. 5/5I love it!!

   I am a 25 yo woman who has taken medications fairly consistently throughout my life for various different things. Problem is I always end up forgetting to take them and it at times does more harm than good because of that. I have tried everything from daily timers on my phone to pill containers and putting them where I would see them, and always have the same problem. I just won’t take them. Then I downloaded Max a few months ago and it has been a game changer for me. I have never been so consistent with taking my meds. It also makes it so convenient that all my meds and dosages are in this app and logged so I know exactly what I am taking, what the dosage is and when I took it last, so I can accurately tell doctors at my appointments. 10/10, I absolutely recommend it to anyone who needs help remembering to take their meds like I do!!
