I want to thank the person who invented this app and writes all those clever and interesting facts and stories about the sites every day. My sister and I compare our scores every day and we're both so happy to be learning new things. We end up studying maps and the globe every day to try to improve ourselves, and we are learning so much! And I'm also grateful for the time that the man mentioned that there was a disabled person who was accidentally getting the wrong answers from tapping while spinning the globe on the app and that that was a confirm choice button that could be turned on. We are not disabled, but had often accidentally had that happen to us and we were very glad to learn of that choice , and our scores have also gotten better from using that confirm or clear, So thanks for mentioning that. We needed it! This app is absolutely so much fun and educational. It's just wonderful.

I always thought I was decent at geography… and boy was I wrong. From the first day I played this I was frustrated with how little I truly knew about the world. This app has taught me more about Geography than any class I have taken… which is either sad for me or either great praise for the app (probably both). I have never written a review for an app or game before. There’s games on here I have over 50+ hours in and have played for years. Never have I felt compelled to recommend a game. Play this. The best game ever

5/5Family Fun!
This game is absolutely phenomenal! My family and I downloaded the game and now we compete everyday. We made a groupchat that includes my grandparents, and it gets pretty competitive! And get this: there are absolutely no ads, it’s not one of those annoying games that’s constantly sending notifications (I don’t think I’ve even gotten one), and it’s completely free!! This has bonded my family in such a big way for such a small thing. As someone who doesn’t know much geography, it’s still fun and helps me! There are countries I had never even heard of on here! Also, with each location there are little history facts that are so well written and interesting to read. I would recommend this for anyone, history lover or not, it’s an amazing app!!

5/5Favorite app to play daily
Playing maptap is a relaxing, often uplifting and fun few minutes. My family and I share our scores and compete against each other daily. I am often intrigued or inspired when I read the info drops on each tap and I like getting a little more educated about the globe and it's cultural history. The more you know! I can even tell the developer has a sense of humor. Great app!

4/5Almost Perfect, Missing Social Features
This is undoubtedly my favorite iteration of daily challenge games that have popped up in recent years. The challenge is unique and refreshing, and the stats interface and opportunities to practice and enhance your geographic knowledge is excellent! Everyday I enjoy doing not just the 5 cities for scoring, but all the practice maps. I’ve loved this game so much I told so many of my friends about it, excited to add them as friends and compare our daily scores, only to realize that this game has no mechanism for adding friends outside the pay-to-access ‘groups’ feature. I think that groups being pay-walled is perfectly fine, but to not have another way to connect with your friends feels super regressive to the growth of this game. Further, adding a bunch of separate friends to my one group would be kinda awkward because many don’t know each other. This aspect of the app unfortunately feels poorly thought out, and I hope that there are more social features pushed soon, in which case I’ll updated this review.

Minor bug fixes and performance optimizations. Gosh I hate it when apps put that in their new version notes. I wonder what they are hiding. Like "Also 10,000 new things we don't want to tell you". So, Minor bug fixes: the tutorial text was broken because it had characters like \n when I meant for those to be new lines. and, Performance optimizations: the end of the daily game hitches because it is trying to do so many things simultaneously. I spread those out to keep frame rate up. I wonder if apple will reject my app because I'm putting random commentary in here?

So instead of that, I'm going to make it really clear what bugs I'm fixing (or, think I'm fixing). If you see bugs, you would really help me out by letting me know! use the link to support, and send me a message. And thanks so much for playing MapTap. Bug fixes: Some users reported MapTap freezing when it launched. The app might be doing too many things at once on startup. Fixed that. If you switched apps in the middle of a practice map, your progress would be lost. this should be fixed. When you are in a group, if there is a new unread chat message, you get a little notification for that in your main menu. That notification wasn't reliably going away when you read your group messages. should be fixed. added the version number on the menu page. New stuff: Updated some of the scoring text with some new fun ones.
