4/5As many bugs as my dog!
I like the idea but the Avatar conversations in the app are not nearly as impressive as the ones in the ads: the avatar is slow and the mouth doesn’t actually pronounce the words like they do on the ad. Also I ran into a lot of bugs: like the fact that the “record” feature on the pronunciation evaluation never stays on the first time I press it, so I press it a second time, and it appears to stay on, but the actual recording that it saves is the first split-second recording that aborted. It would be great if the conversation speed could be adjusted directly from the conversation. So as I progress I could increase the speed and then slow it down if I got into unfamiliar territory. Also, in the avatar conversation. There is sometimes a word that I don’t understand. It would be nice if I could tap it for translation to English.

2/5Never worked.
[Update: after MANY messages with them (btw, best way to reach them apparently is thru Facebook messenger, NOT thru the email), they finally refunded some of the charges. As promised, I am changing this review to reflect that. Never got the app to function tho and no joke, it took weeks of back & forth messaging to get it resolved so I can’t give more than 2 stars. Seems like it’s prob a good app if it functions for you but if not, good luck. Hope you have LOTS of time to keep writing them. I basically had to threaten to tell every ex-pat I know not to use it before they finally did the right thing. ] Have never been able to get this app to function. It consistently says “no active subscription found.” After the 24 to 48 hours it takes for them to answer a support request, all they’ve done is repeatedly give me the same instructions to download & log into the app which I’ve said Every Time - isn’t working. So now, Ive tried to write every day this week to say I want a full refund (of all THREE month’s charges now that they dinged me yet again while I’ve been going back & forth w them trying to figure it out), and every email comes back w a mysterious “delivery status delayed” notification. Then today I get a notification saying their inbox is full. I have limited income right now but lots of time and planned to spend Aug working on my Spanish (I live in Mexico so it’s muy importante!) and instead I’m still using crappy free apps & out $54 that I don’t have. I’m hoping maybe this review will reach someone. I’m open to changing it if someone gets back w me & offers the refund I am due.

1/5A lot of problems but a good way to build vocabulary
The app has lots of bugs and glitches. It stopped giving me “credit” for completing the modules after about the third one I completed (it would only register that I completed 86% of the module, no matter how many times I successfully completed the piece it said I hadn’t finished). The AI sometimes glitched or provided correction that is not accurate (a number of times, it tells me I should have said the very thing I did say). Sometimes it is inaccurate with the vocabulary words (at times it is simply a French word that has 2 meanings but the sample sentence doesn’t use the meaning intended, but other times, it gives a completely wrong word for the attached definition). One specific bug is where, in the sentence completion, if you get it wrong the first time and are offered another chance later, it mixes up the contextual sentences with other sentences you’d gotten wrong. A lot of these are pretty easy to work around, though. I think if they can fix the bugs and glitches, it could be a very useful app. If you use this along with another program (I also use Paul Noble’s series, which is an excellent way to learn spoken French) it is extremely useful for building vocabulary and practicing what you’ve learned with the bot. The combination seems an excellent way to build fluency overall, if one is consistent.

1/5Terrible app, terrible support, will not refund money and dies not work at all!
Horrible experience! I have used DuoLingo for years and wanted something better, so I paid for a subscription to MYF. The first time I tried it I noticed that it does not pronounce simple words correctly (Spanish) and no matter how I say the words it keeps saying “Let’s slow it down” and makes me try over and over again in an endless loop! It will not let me progress past the first point in the app. I have contacted Support many times and finally got so frustrated that I asked for a refund. They shut me out of the app, it says it is cancelled, but refuse to refund my money, asking me to try again! I keep telling them “I can’t try anything because I can’t log in, it says Cancelled” yet they keep sending me the same messages, what a total waste of time and money! By the way, my wife and all our children, which is everyone in my household, speak Spanish as their first language! I speak enough to get by but want to improve and this app is useless.

2/5So many errors!
EDIT: Be aware!! So many apps have a trial period. This one does not. Because I was so unhappy with this app, I requested a refund after two days. Be aware that they DO NOT REFUND if you aren't happy AT ALL. This is a lot of money to purchase blind without trying it out so you might try some of the others with free trials. I found Duolingi and Pimsleur to be far better for me. I was able to try them out, which was so helpful. Now on to my original review : Today is my first day of beginner Spanish with this app. All of the words I added today came up, defined as "coworker". So my vocabulary list is useless to me.. The native speaker speaks so fast that you better have a lot of experience before you start. Perhaps this app is good for the intermediate or advanced learner but if you are a beginner you will be lost! I sure hate I wasted money on the app. It is useless to me.. guess I will keep looking
