  1. 3/5Great software, awful map source

I have contacted support team a few times with different issues and they always responded quickly and helped me to resolve my issues. I like the way they designed the software with privacy in mind, the way it calculates routes etc. The negative for me, and the reason it’s not my primary navigation app, the source for maps, traffic and red light cameras. In the past I bought Magic Earth Pro with TomTom maps and traffic. When they switched to the free maps at first they were ok. But after some update the map got corrupted in my area and basically there were some spots without any roads or streets. After some map updates it was corrected but now occasionally an app will recommend a turn on a road that is not even connected to the road I’m traveling or to make a turn on overpass or a bridge etc. bottom line the map source is not reliable as it was. So as I mentioned this is great software, professionally executed with the quality support team with the maps you can’t really trust.

  2. 5/5recommendation

I have been using GPS devices for 3 decades. I live in a country where it is still not possible to buy anything from the App Store. That is why it is very important that this App is really free, and there are no hidden costs. This off line GPS App is to be recommended. Guided precisely, I especially like rotating the map in a circular motion, which many autonomous (and expensive) devices do not. Clear, Intuitive, Simple. Clear functions. Huge selection of maps. Easy insertions points between the start and end point of the trip. Good choice of voices. Excellent organization of POI folders. It connects perfectly with the phonebook, with addresses from existing maps, house numbers are accurate. For those who use the HUD function - it works great. There is also the possibility of a dash cam. My rating is 10, if there was a possibility to save the programmed route, the rating would be 10+. This App is in the spirit of today, uses all the features of a smartphone. It can serve as an example to many device and software manufacturers. Kudos to the whole team who worked on this project.

  3. 5/5Really good, hopefully improves

I’ve used this exclusively for a couple weeks. First thing before I forget: it respects your privacy. None of the others do. As for the rest, the navigation is really good. IMO, it is better than Apple Maps or Google. The interface, while needing some tweaks, is nice and clear. It shows addresses and businesses in the map while not feeling cluttered. It works really well with apple car mode (whatever that is called) with a few exceptions. When using the keyboard (on the car interface), there is no way to get rid of the keyboard after you’ve typed. This means you cannot see the results. It is also not as good at finding search results, sometimes suggesting something on the other side of the country when the correct listing is first in Apple Maps. Hopefully this gets better with time. TLDR: it’s private, works great in most regards. Hopefully improves. Definitely worth supporting.

  4. 3/5Man what happened?

At first glance when I opened the app, it was all free which I've been using for not only personal, but also free to use. Even offline I've been looking for. And over their newest update, everything changed entirely. It's no longer free, but now it's all subscription. Trial ones? I don't want it. And I can't even close the subscription page, which got me thinking, “why? They're ruining the free one I did not ask for a subscription.” Worst of all, even if I kept the app, it's still unusable. And even saved locations. Someone asked you to add a trial subscription and made it 3x worse. I need a free one that is what the previous update where subscription wasn't a thing. Otherwise, I'll keep dropping to 1 star, hence, uninstalling the app sooner. And to those people who gave feedback to Magic Earth to add subscriptions, g o t o h e l l.

  5. 5/5Perfect Google Maps replacement for me!

I've used this a lot for navigation, and now I use it as my primary navigation app because it's more private and there are a few details that make this many steps ahead of Google Maps in my opinion. I usually punch in the address I get from Google Maps and it routes me there flawlessly. Traffic info is really good and the routes are way better imo. I also noticed that Google Maps will sometimes decide to change the route without your permission, which this app doesn't - you can have a default to select a faster route or stay on the current route. Another thing is the lane guidance, Google Maps only shows this if you're near a lane change, but this one shows it, say, if you are on the same road and want to stay on it. This is a game changer because with GMaps it's easy to accidentally move into the exit lane and have to drive another mile to take the on ramp. Also, if Carplay disconnects on random occasions, the navigation keeps going, super helpful! Finally, the directions themselves - "turn around when possible", "at the 2nd road turn left", "immediately turn right" - much more natural. While this comes from OpenStreetMap data which isn't for everyone, I can definitely live with it given the navigation experience, so I recommend it as a general navigation app.

DO NOT UPDATE!!! Keep the old version, much better and most features are not locked down. I made the mistake of clicking UPDATE and now offline maps are locked under Premium upgrade option. it used to be FREE before!

  5. 1/5

Used to be good but many features that used to be available are now behind paywall. The app has gone worse and worse in usability. That is pretty disrespectful to users and it shows, the app that had over 4 stars now barely has 1.5.
