   Social Media is just a giant mall, I can’t even justify using it anymore let alone rationalize that it’s the way to keep up with my friends. Algorithms push ads over my friend’s updates, you have to sift thru slop just to see what your loved ones are up to. This app has been a godsend. I started several with friends, and it’s an easy and delightful way to keep up with my loved ones. I love how intentional it is—you can pose questions, share photos, answer as many or as few questions as you want. I started one with my family, and the other day, my Dad asked a reflective question and I was so ecstatic to have HIM propose questions 🥹🥹🥹🥹. I love that you can modify the cadence of the issues- I have monthly ones for my busy friends, and bi-weeklies for my besties. It can be as low-effort or high-effort as you want it to be, but what I love about Letterloop is I’m practicing intention and presence with people I care deeply about.

2. 5/5Give the Developers a Million Dollars

   My friend group from undergrad graduated a year ago and Letterloop has been the best way to catch up when we all live in different places and can’t talk every day like we used to. It feels like every few weeks i open the issue and get to remember how great and funny and interesting my best friends are. If your friends are A1 Yappers in your field, these are so fun to make your own questions. The questions automatically generated in the issue lets me share the smallest things i would usually tell them right away but can’t because of distance. We love debriefing after the issue releases and congratulating each other on job offers, getting mad with them over a biker that cut them off, and seeing what the did on their trip abroad. Anyways. Love my friends, love this app already. Psyched.

   I’m not on social media so it makes it really difficult for me to keep up with the people I want to. I started with Letterloop after hearing about it from a friend at work and now have two newsletters with my family and close circle of friends. It’s a wonderful, low pressure way of keeping up with the people you care about in your lives. If you’re a man, I would highly highly highly recommend you try this with your friends. I’ve found over the course of normal interactions over video games or the group chat or whatever it can be difficult for me and my male friends to talk about the larger things impacting our lives. Letterloop creates the space for me and my friends to talk about our inner lives on our own terms. Thanks Letterloop team!

4. 5/5A moment to gather virtually

   While the pandemic brought many terrors and horrors both worldwide and in small circles, it brought a new understanding to the way that we keep in touch in modern times. Letterloop has become a staple in our friend group. We have elected to do newsletters bimonthly, and it has become a method for us to share news and celebrating big milestones. we recently had a group member share her experience in running the Chicago marathon, another has kept us updated on the first baby in our friend group growing monthly, and yet another just used it to announce her pregnancy to us. It’s special and intimate and has really shown exactly how much we each value staying in touch. Thank you to the creators. Thank you for providing a modern take on a classic female experience.

   I love this app more than I was ever expecting!! To start, the organization and execution of the app is perfect. I get a notification to submit questions that I want in this months issue. A few days later I get a notification to answer all of the submitted questions. A few days after that, the issue launches! My friend group is based in various cities so this has been a seamless way to connect outside of regular group chat (and forget trying to plan a Group FaceTime!). Most importantly, this app has been a source of deep conversation and reflection for all of us, and I believe it has strengthened our long distance friendships. Highly recommend for all people, but especially those far from their friends.
