1. 1/5Horrible and Dangerous

   I would be embarrassed if I was on KXAN’s weather team, they’re forced to push this app on air. The app is designed poorly and if you do manage to find what you’re looking for you’re going to sit through an ad to get outdated information or see broken radar. I wouldn’t trust this app with my life, despite the repeated on air push to download the app for alerts. If I want up to date information I have to use the actual KXAN website. If it was an emergency and I needed information quickly, I’d be forced to watch an ad for air conditioner repair before I knew if there was a tornado coming down my street. There are a number of free apps that actually work and don’t make you sweat through advertising to get an answer in an emergency. All my sympathy to the staff forced to push the app.

2. 4/5Ignore the bad reviews

   This is a great app the bad reviews are from old fixed bugs and people that don’t understand how to properly use the app only issue is the ads that sometimes play during severe warnings which for me is whatever I have dozens of other apps, but it’s a bit annoying for people that are trying to get quick information on a storm headed their way. Another thing I will say is that y’all please don’t use this app for your forecast locally in your town/house if you don’t live in Austin because the temperatures forecasted/cloud cover is for Austin unless you live in a few spots out in the Hill Country where it treats it like as if those areas aren’t part of KXAN viewing area and it’s just the generic TWC Info for those spots but do use it for the rain coverage coverage % it’s for area wide not just Austin proper.

3. 2/5Not as good as it was

   I don’t know what happened to this app. I’ve used it for years, I think I’ve finally had enough though. The radar, which I use for work every time it rains has started to either not load, or take 5-10 minutes to load properly. Not that the radar is wrong (which is happening more and more often) but the whole thing doesn’t load correctly, or load at all. It’s not my connection. It sometimes sends me 2+ notifications for the same thing back-to-back, which is just annoying. I’ll keep trying to use it out of habit, but I’m looking for others, that are more accurate, and has a less buggy radar if anyone has any suggestions.

4. 4/5Good changes in app!

   I was a loyal TWC app user for many year not because they were great but because I disliked them the least. Based on their changes in 2025, and your improvements later in 2025 I switch over to your app. I like the changes in format and layout. It launches quickly, due to better font size, I can read the relevant data without my glasses and minimal scrolling needed. I just wish the current day high/low showed up with the current temperature as to get that I have to look down at the daily horizontal bar. While I really like the horizontal hourly and daily data which again minimizes scrolling, trying to scroll horizontally on the hourly temp opens the vertical scroll way too easy which means the dealing with the ads and extra info I don’t need. That aside, nice changes!

   I would be more than happy to pay money for a decent weather app. I have at least 20$ invested in weather radar pro. KXAN app is buggy and stops short of malware...for NOW. Adverts go way beyond annoying to near infuriating. Theres nothing worse than having video ads co-opting your ap when you're trying to see if there is a tornado about to wipe you out. Wake up KXAN. Just FYI. The free weather radar pro pulls all the local TV weather radars together plus noaa/faa/nhc/usgc warnings and updates. Free version contains minimal ads, 1000x less than KXAN ap, and at least gives you options to remove via nominal purchase. I have licensed the aviation weather layers which are perfect for pilots. All notams and faa conditions etc.. This is not an ad for WRP but I've been soooo frustrated with weather aps especially kxan.
