1. 3/5Nice, But Missing Features

   It doesn't read aloud to you like other readers do, and that's the whole reason I downloaded it (it supposedly has this feature in other computer versions). It also has kind of a funky note-taking system. You can't separate them out by section or chapter, so they're all in this clump (I use different highlight colors to separate but it isn't super helpful) and they're only really in previews so you can't reference them quickly. Additionally, it's a little glitchy for me. I've had it delete notes before that I know I made, the formatting of the words on the page get kind of messed up sometimes when the page has a figure, and loading a pdf into the app sometimes takes a few tries. And I know I've really highlighted the negatives here, but if you want an easy-to-use, no-nonsense eBook app, this one will do everything you need. It's just the "student" kind of features such as note-taking or studying aides that are lacking.

2. 2/5One of the Worst Services I’ve Had To Use for School

   Kortext is a nice service, when it works. Unfortunately, it rarely ever has worked for me. At the beginning of the semester, after redeeming one of my books, logging into my account would show no books. Somehow, when I made my account, 2 identical accounts were made with the same email and password, and trying to log in would log into the one with no book. This seems like such a stupid issue and I’m not sure how the service would allow for duplicate accounts to be created in the first place. Thankfully, I was able to resolve this issue by changing the password to the account with no book, and logging in to the account with the original password would give me access to the book. It went well, for about 2 weeks, then I logged in one day and again, my book was missing. I tried to log out and back in again, and doing so got me stuck in a login loop that lasted about a day. When I was finally able to log back in, it was again in the account with no book. I figured I could maybe just delete that account, leaving the surviving account being the one with the book. I thought this would be a good idea, but then I realized Kortext would just bombard me with errors if I try to delete my account This is extremely frustrating, especially considering the issues I’ve been having with Kortext is causing me to fall behind in the class that uses it.

3. 1/5i’m actually over this

   my school decided to use this company in order to beat the cost of having students to purchase books. With that being said, I was a student who got to access this program. I thought it was gonna be some great thing that would be super beneficial when it comes to affordability, flexibility, and accessibility, turns out I was wrong. I was sent an email letting me know that it was very easy to sign up and sign in to my account in order to access my materials. I used information in the email and when I went to sign into my account, it told me that I had either the wrong email or password. That didn’t make any sense to me because I used exactly what was given to me in the sign up email. So school starts within the week and I still am not able to access my materials. I went online to get in contact with their support and I sent an email last week and still nobody has contacted me yet and I have schoolwork that is due and I need the book in order to complete it. I know purchasing books is annoying but this is even worse when you have it and can’t access anything.

   I needed to use this app for the textbook for my graduate level course in counseling. I’ve used several apps by other publishers, and this one is the least functional I’ve encountered. First, some of the good points: - it remembers what page you left off on reliably - it supports bookmarks and notes - it supports multiple font sizes and color schemes - it page and scroll mode for reading - it will read the text to you,but only the current page Less good: -The index at the front of the book doesn’t include page numbers, if you want to know how much reading you have to do you must to navigate to the end of the chapter to see how many pages it contains,then navigate back to your bookmark or section - long hyperlinks can overwrite the text and sometimes bleed onto the next page -doesn’t support highlighting -navigating the book from the index won’t let you jump to the beginning of a chapter (clicking on the chapter title does nothing) only to the first section. In the case of my text this was usually several pages into the chapter.

5. 1/5Worst app I’ve ever used

   The semester just started and my school is using this app to gain access to the ebook. Let me tell you, i am so annoyed. I hate the fact that the pages don’t have a page number indicating where you’re at on the actual page. You can’t scroll down or up on a page, you just have to go to “the next page”which is not the next page its literally the same page but just the next parts of the page (hope that makes sense). The voiceover sounds sooooo bad like an ai robot and it doesn’t stop when reading the next title to another paragraph it just keeps going like its part of one whole sentence, when it’s not. It gives you options for other voices but they don’t even work!! Like why put the options if they are not gonna work ? I am also annoyed with the specific book I’m reading because it’s not in chapters, it’s in parts. Making it super confusing. ( but that’s an issue with the authors. Overall, Super annoyed. I never right reviews but i just had toooo !!! If i could give 0 stars i would.
