I have been reading daily on this app for a little over two months. I have put money into it just to make sure I have a stock of points, for when I start needing to pay for chapters. I just now spent some of those points! I think this app is a great app for Manga, and it’s really disappointing seeing it pushed way down the App Store list. (The rating bomb for K manga, just goes to show Americans cannot understand Japanese pricing models.) The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the ad integration. You don’t see them when reading but there are just some weird ways to get points when there shouldn’t be, because points are so cheap. Once you get used to the pay system, you’ll have no problem, and you will stay for the great titles!

THIS POINT SYSTEM IS SO TRASH ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY PLEASE FIX UR APP KODANSHA. WHY NOT JUST ADD A SUBSCRIPTION U ASK? ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE STUPID The point system in this app is honestly terrible. Instead of letting people simply read manga, it forces users to grind points just to unlock chapters. Nobody downloads a manga app because they want to farm points all day. People download it because they want to read manga. The system makes the entire experience frustrating and annoying instead of simple and enjoyable. The worst part is that you have to play random mobile games just to get enough points to read. This makes the app feel more like a scam ad platform than a manga reader. I should not have to download other apps and waste my time playing trash mobile games just to read a few chapters of manga. A subscription would make way more sense. Almost every other manga platform already understands this. Just add a monthly subscription and let people read normally. That would be simple, fair, and actually respect the user’s time. The current point system just pushes people away from the app. Right now the app feels like it cares more about forcing people to interact with ads and other games than actually letting people enjoy manga. The manga selection might be good, but the point system completely ruins the experience. Please remove this point system and just add a normal subscription option. It would make the app much better and people would actually want to use it.

The points system is absolutely awful. They should have taken a page out of shueshia/viz’s book with a simple subscription or first read free model. the points system is designed to be as not user friendly as possible if you’re trying to be a free reader, unlike MangaPlus, which gives the most recent 3 and first 3 chapters for free, and some series will allow you to read each chapter once for free. If a user is willing to pay, it’s still way worse of an experience on kmanga than it is on mangaplus/viz, where they offer a really low monthly subscription and unlimited access to chapters. On K manga, you have to pay almost a dollar per chapter. To read just 5 chapters you have to spend as much as it would cost for an entire month of the Shonen Jump app, which offers thousands of chapters from tons and tons of series. Kodansha needs to step up their game if they want people to legally read their manga.

4/5Great Manga—Not a GACHA Fan
I’m very thankful that Kodansha is giving Shonen Jump a run for their money; that being said, I’m not as enthused about the GACHA mechanics employed within. I much prefer Shonen Jump’s monthly subscription and 100-chapter per day limit. Despite the GACHA mechanic, I do appreciate that purchased chapters are available in perpetuity (at least as far as this writing—these days, who knows how long that will last). If you’re a fan of anime and manga, and you wanna read Fire Force, Windbreaker, and Tokyo Revengers, among other Kodansha hits, download this app.

3/5I wish I could give five stars
Too many irritating things with this app but it has nothing to do with the content. It has a great selection of stuff and generous free chapters. I mostly wish it was a subscription to read all chapters instead of all the different ways to access chapters. The pop ups, while just showing other series on the app, are still annoying but at least they aren’t adds. The biggest pain is the page turning. I’m glad swiping isn’t the only way to turn a page but the margin to tap on the side of the screen to trigger a page turning is so narrow it’s too easy to flub. No manga reading apps are perfect and I’ll deal with the things I don’t like to read what I’m looking for but I would spend way more time on the app if the experience was better.

cant even read the Manga you've purchased with your friends. spent money on a series to read with my boy on discord and it wont even let you screenshare or screenshot any of the Manga you purchase. ruins all the fun and excitement of being ready to read a new series you and your friends love together. Will not be using ever again unless they change the screenshare policy.

I love the manga in this app, but can't get app on fire tablet, can't use purchased points online, so if I buy points, I have to read on my tiny phone instead. I don't mind the tickets and points too much, but if you're app is the only place to use them, make the app accessible anywhere. Subscription would be easier and I'd pay a good price for it. Love all the stories, frustrating to get to though.

I have put money into it just to make sure I have a stock of points, for when I start needing to pay for chapters. I just now spent some of those points! I think this app is a great app for Manga, and it’s really disappointing seeing it pushed way down the App Store list. (The rating bomb for K manga, just goes to show Americans cannot understand Japanese pricing models.) The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the ad integration. You don’t see them when reading but there are just some weird ways to get points when there shouldn’t be, because points are so cheap. Once you get used to the pay system, you’ll have no problem, and you will stay for the great titles!",

ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE STUPID The point system in this app is honestly terrible. Instead of letting people simply read manga, it forces users to grind points just to unlock chapters. Nobody downloads a manga app because they want to farm points all day. People download it because they want to read manga. The system makes the entire experience frustrating and annoying instead of simple and enjoyable. The worst part is that you have to play random mobile games just to get enough points to read. This makes the app feel more like a scam ad platform than a manga reader. I should not have to download other apps and waste my time playing trash mobile games just to read a few chapters of manga. A subscription would make way more sense. Almost every other manga platform already understands this. Just add a monthly subscription and let people read normally. That would be simple, fair, and actually respect the user’s time. The current point system just pushes people away from the app. Right now the app feels like it cares more about forcing people to interact with ads and other games than actually letting people enjoy manga. The manga selection might be good, but the point system completely ruins the experience. Please remove this point system and just add a normal subscription option. It would make the app much better and people would actually want to use it.",

          "body": "The points system is absolutely awful. They should have taken a page out of shueshia/viz’s book with a simple subscription or first read free model. the points system is designed to be as not user friendly as possible if you’re trying to be a free reader, unlike MangaPlus, which gives the most recent 3 and first 3 chapters for free, and some series will allow you to read each chapter once for free. If a user is willing to pay, it’s still way worse of an experience on kmanga than it is on mangaplus/viz, where they offer a really low monthly subscription and unlimited access to chapters. On K manga, you have to pay almost a dollar per chapter. To read just 5 chapters you have to spend as much as it would cost for an entire month of the Shonen Jump app, which offers thousands of chapters from tons and tons of series. Kodansha needs to step up their game if they want people to legally read their manga.",

          "body": "I’m very thankful that Kodansha is giving Shonen Jump a run for their money; that being said, I’m not as enthused about the GACHA mechanics employed within. I much prefer Shonen Jump’s monthly subscription and 100-chapter per day limit. Despite the GACHA mechanic, I do appreciate that purchased chapters are available in perpetuity (at least as far as this writing—these days, who knows how long that will last). If you’re a fan of anime and manga, and you wanna read Fire Force, Windbreaker, and Tokyo Revengers, among other Kodansha hits, download this app.",

          "body": "Too many irritating things with this app but it has nothing to do with the content. It has a great selection of stuff and generous free chapters. I mostly wish it was a subscription to read all chapters instead of all the different ways to access chapters. The pop ups, while just showing other series on the app, are still annoying but at least they aren’t adds. The biggest pain is the page turning. I’m glad swiping isn’t the only way to turn a page but the margin to tap on the side of the screen to trigger a page turning is so narrow it’s too easy to flub. No manga reading apps are perfect and I’ll deal with the things I don’t like to read what I’m looking for but I would spend way more time on the app if the experience was better.",
