1. 5/5A Very Good Language Tool

   I use this app a great deal, at least once a week, most the time way more. With social media I find people from all over the world posting content from other countries. People from other countries sending messages in their native language. I come across something written in another language I’m not familiar with. This app helps me a lot, without spending so much time trying to learn the languages. This app helps me figure things out quickly, and move on. I’ve actually written long letters in French to some people. They seem to understand what I’m wiring. No one ever tells me I miss spelled anything. And no one ever tells me I used the wrong word, or said something wrong. I don’t even know what I’m doing. Then when the people write me back, this app helps me figure out what they wrote me. This app translates every word I want to say, or read. I copy paste away in both directions; depending on whether I want to compose, or read in another language. It takes a little thinking sometimes, this app does most the work. Try this app out to close the communication gap with different languages.

2. 1/5Yearly subscription!?! Really?

   Ugh! Make sure you really read through everything when it gives you the option of a free trial because this app will sign you up for the entire year if you don’t. I made the mistake of trying this app because my youngest son was wanting to play with another boy from school, but the mother of the kid didn’t speak English. I thought maybe this would be faster and easier to use, but you have to pay to use anything at all or do a free trial. I clicked the free trial and then had to rush to work, so I forgot to take it right back off. It’s right before Christmas and I just got a notification that I apparently paid for something that was over $70 freakin dollars! I don’t recall reading anything that said if you click the free trial you’ll be forced to pay for a YEARLY subscription to something I will never need or use again. That just seems really sketchy and wrong. I have two kiddos and work as a waitress, so I don’t have a lot of extra money laying around and now I have to go through the process of getting a refund and waiting for the money to come back to me before I can get more gifts for my family. With the post office here being so behind, I didn’t have the time to wait. I only used the app one time and it didn’t help that situation anyway. It’s free to use google translate, so there is no actual need for me to use this and I was definitely unaware that I had somehow signed up for a yearly subscription and am not willing to pay that much for any app. That’s just not ok at all. 😡

3. 1/5Worked poorly . Not much better than free Google translate. Questionable billing practices

   Edit: questionable billing practices. I know I signed up for the monthly subscription, yet when I canceled the app just now it claims I signed up for $50 for one year. I will be taking that complaint to the App Store for a refund. Yes, on the cancellation page, is a one year subscription it’s also available for just $20. Why am I charged $50? Something is Sketchy here. As this kind of complaint seems common I suspect after a while the App Store will punish the developer in some way. As to the effectiveness of the app, it is not so great. Read on . Using it translate to folks during a trip overseas to Spain resulted in some misunderstandings and laughter. It was better than nothing, but not better than google translate. It’s ability to do text recognition and translate say a menu is a nice capability that again, is better than nothing , but it cannot handle if the text is tilted relative to the image, jumbling the lines together. It also seemed to miss a lot of the words leaving them in Spanish . Finally there was no attempt to parse separate lines and represent the translation as separate lines to the user, they all just ran into one another. That capability seems pretty basic to implement. Still that feature was better than not having it at all, so two stars.... until I saw what happened with the billing . Not worth paying for at all in my opinion and with that billing glitch they have problems in how they sign ppl up for subscription too.

4. 1/5Needed to free up space on phone

   So I’m going thru some apps that I’ve downloaded and either never had a chance to use or forgot to delete. I had a few translation apps DL’ed to try. I think at one time I did open this, immediately was bombarded w/the upgrade screen (which actually makes me NOT want to support developers who do this). Let ppl TRY your app before expecting even a one time fee, but esp if it’s a subscription service. I decided to look at the reviews to see if it was worth keeping, since it would actually free up more space than a couple of apps combined. Even IF this was a quality app that translated correctly in all cases in every language it ‘offers’, based on the RUDE responses, you sure don’t deserve the reward of my service. While I’m only one person, think of how many have, the never ending copy/paste about Free vs Pro and the difference, when THE CUSTOMER CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD IT, but had ANOTHER ISSUE WITH IT, and you don’t give a personal response, but instead treat THEM like they are idiots. If someone is asking you to allow a setting to remove the PRO pop up upon EACH TIME U OPEN THE APP, n they already said they USED THEIR TRIAL, then ADDRESS THAT, not copy paste how pro works. Also, MANY ppl have indicated that the app doesn’t always translate properly. I read reviews stating this FACT on at least 5 different languages. Yet, each response is your app is right, those FLUENT to their native language who told the ppl your app’s translation was wrong, are

5. 5/5Easy to use and HELPFUL

   I don’t speak Spanish at all but met a Latino guy who needed help taking some classes at the community college I work at. We only used the free part and within two minutes of us opening it we were communicating, not just talking. We were able to ask each other any questions we had and give detailed answers. Think about that...this app allowed me, an English speaker to help a Spanish speaking man come up with a plan to get him an education and improve his life. The look on his face as it became clear that this app worked and he wasn’t going to have to struggle to find the words to say what he wanted and try to understand the answers he was getting...within a few minutes!!!! This man came in knowing it was going to be difficult to get the info he needed but he didn’t care because an education was that important to him. He left and his feet barely touched the ground because this app put the American Dream within his reach and as an American who was able to help him take the first steps towards that I couldn’t be more proud!!!! So in case you are wondering I give this app ten million stars👌🌈🌈🌈.
