We've been listening to your feedback and are starting to make changes to improve your experience. • When opening the app, you are no longer zoomed to your current location. It will initially show a statewide view. After your initial use, it will display your last view. • To make your winter view easier to see road conditions, we changed the default map layers to winter road conditions and unplanned traffic events.

We've been listening to your feedback and have made some updates to existing features as well as added some new ones. More usability improvements are coming very soon! This update includes the following: • Fixed a bug that was causing the app to freeze for some users. • Added +/- zoom buttons on the map to allow users to easily zoom in and out with one finger, without using pinch-to-zoom. • Commercial Vehicle Drivers: We added some at-a-glance icons to quickly see what restrictions are included in a traffic event. Click a Restriction icon to check them out. • Added next rest area info: you can now see more information about the next rest area along the route within the rest area details view.

We've been listening to your feedback and have another round of usability updates. • Removed the "Where To?" search bar from the main map and moved it to a button on the bottom bar. Tap the Search button to see events along a route, a city, or a trip from point A to point B. • Separated and moved the Legend and Layers to buttons on the bottom bar. Now you can easily view and slide the legend while interacting with the map. • Moved the More button to the top right corner of the map. • Updated the hands-free, eyes-free feature to keep the map centered on your current location while driving.

We fixed a bug that was showing an incorrect number of "Active Plows" if you tapped on a plow location icon.

We’ve removed the Winter Driving quick button at the bottom of the app. Don’t worry, it’ll be back when the snow starts falling again. • Search Enhancements: Find drive time and traffic delays under the Directions tab of your search results, when you search from point A to B. • Bugs Begone! We squashed some bugs and made performance tweaks. Enjoy!

To help you navigate the roads during the flooding disaster, we've rolled out some new features. • New "County Closures" Layer: Get near real-time updates imported straight from the County 511 website. Got questions about a closure? Just contact the person listed on the closure. • Quick Button for "Incidents & County Closures": Easily turn on the DOT’s "Unplanned Traffic Events" and the new "County Closures" layers with one tap. Find it at the bottom of the map.

It's time to switch to Winter Mode & a few other enhancements: • DEFAULT LAYERS: Updated to be winter-focused and added the "Winter Driving" quick button. • NEW LAYER: Check out the road conditions of our neighboring states with the regional winter road conditions layer (display-only) • NEW LAYER: Unverified (by Iowa DOT) Google Closures • SEARCH: Enhanced the search feature to allow more natural language searches, like "Cameras on I-35" or "Closures between Ames to Des Moines."

• Added the same "Quick Buttons" from the website, to the bottom of the map. Tapping these buttons, will turn off all of your layers and just turn on the layers from the button (e.g. Construction (current and future), cameras, and commercial vehicles). • Want to plan your future trip and avoid construction? We've added the "Future Construction" layer (same as the website) as an option to see construction projects that aren't active yet but are starting within the next 2 weeks. • Said goodbye to the "Winter Mode" default layers and switched to "Summer Mode" default layers. • Fixed a bug introduced with iOS 16.4.1 where if you tapped on an event icon, the map view wouldn't be correct.

RELEASE NOTES • Need a charge for your car? EV charging locations are on the map and in search results. Just turn on the layer. • Revamped search results to highlight events w/high impacts to travel. • Identify the status of the construction event by its icon on the map: Active - color, Inactive - gray, Verified w/smart device - adds a green checkmark. • Urgent notifications have been redesigned to grab user's attention.

** Embrace the darkness: Dark Mode has arrived! ** To activate it, go to the 3 horizontal lines button, then App Theme. ** New Feature: Push Notifications ** Your511 users, get lightning-fast push notifications for your saved routes or areas. Head to your Favorites, Locations, then Edit the saved route or area and toggle on Push Notifications. Easy peasy!

• "Roadkill" and "Debris on Road" retired from the "Reporting an Issue" menu (they’ll find new hobbies). • Added definition bubbles to winter road conditions in the legend - put this in your back pocket for October. • Performance boosts and bug fixes to keep the app cruising.

• We cleaned up the legend so it actually… legends. Camera icons now show which cameras stream video and which ones are just "striking a pose". • We tuned things under the hood for smoother, snappier performance. Enjoy the glow‑up!

** NEW FEATURE ALERT - REPORT A TRAFFIC ISSUE ** • Send a Report: See a crash, debris on the road, or flooding? Give us a heads-up right from the app. Tap the last blue button in the upper right corner to make a report. Try reporting it hands-free with "Hey Siri, report a concern to Iowa 511." • Critical Info: Find big-impact events in your Critical Info list (notification bell at the bottom of the app). • App Updates: To continue using the app in the future, you'll need to update your app when a new version is released. • EV Charging Layer: Made some updates for smoother map viewing of this layer.

Winter Mode Activated! (and ferries too): • DEFAULT LAYERS: Updated to be winter-focused and added the "Winter Driving" quick button at the bottom of the app. • LANSING BRIDGE FERRY: Added the ability to display ferry icons on the Construction layer to show ferry status (green = operational, red = out of service) - just in time for the upcoming Lansing Bridge Ferry launch in a few weeks.

• Traffic Delay Disclaimer: Added a clear note explaining that delay info (those glowing orange events) is automatically provided by Google Traffic, not the DOT. Think of it as a gentle "don’t blame the messenger" if they're not accurate. ;-) • Your511 Account Creation: The "Submit" button was hiding behind the on‑screen keyboard like it owed someone money. We moved it to a more responsible spot. • Report an Issue - Voice Report Time Limit: Some of you were getting a little long‑winded… or forgot to stop your recording entirely. To save everyone from accidental highway podcasts, Voice Reports are now capped at 2 minutes. • Bug Squashing: Routine clean‑up to keep the app running at its best.
