1. 1/5Bring back the old app

   This new app is totally contrived. Please bring back the old app asap. It feels like you fired your product manager and let the engineers design the app. None of this makes any sense. The workflow is so much more cumbersome I honestly don’t even want to use this camera now knowing I’ll have to suffer through this app. Update: I’ve tried using this new app again. It’s incomprehensible. I’m seriously considering selling my x4. All my footage is just going to die on this camera because the editing process is impossible to understand. The main view of a clip doesn’t reflect the key frames that have been added. The new key framing is far more difficult to use that the old way. The “edit” workflow doesn’t even allow you to key frame a clip. None of these workflows allow you to export a short snip from a long video for just a quick IG story. It’s honestly such a disaster I’m in shock. Can you please make the old app available and let us choose which one to use? I’m actually begging because I love this camera but it is no longer a viable tool for content creation. You have completely cut the legs off of the best 360 camera on the market and let your UI developers make it a non-viable product.

2. 2/5Great when it works

   The app constantly crashes when editing on the phone and my iPhone 15 pro max turns into a space heater when editing. I’ve also tried to open a support case with them but I was directed only to the chat due to the X5 “forward” camera angle never staying “forward” despite the “selfie” angle working properly. I even sent a google drive video link as an example and the support person told me to just edit using keystones which doesn’t really work that well. Why does it work for 30 minutes of video but stop working after 30 minutes? Fix the issue instead of suggesting alternatives. I like to record my entire bike rides so I have to carry an extra battery. No fault of the app but just letting you know if you want to record a bike ride over two hours you’ll need to carry two batteries. One in the device and one when the other battery dies. I hope they can update the firmware to keep “forward” mode pointing actually forward and the app to keep from crashing during editing. iPhone 15 pro max on iOS 18.5 and at the time of this writing the latest version of the insta360 app.

3. 1/5Doesn’t work

   It doesn’t work, constant disconnecting, doesn’t let you access your album because it never loads, it will say there is nothing in your album on the app whenever you are connected to the camera through the app on your phone. I’ve only been able to access my album twice out of the countless times I’ve tried, everything about the app is slow, inconvenient, and doesn’t work 99% of the time. I’ve only been able to transfer one video to my phone which I couldn’t edit at all, it is impossible to use the edit function due to how slow and non functional it is. Also it does not let you access drafts or the camera view from the app, they both have the same problem of never ending load screens that only end in an error or through closing the app. This app just doesn’t work, which is heavily disappointing considering how expensive the camera I paid for is. You would think the quality of the app should reflect the same value as what you paid, but no this app is nothing but a painful waste of time. I hope they fix this and actually make it usable and do the things which it claims it can do, rather than disappoint their customers in such a tremendously poor way.

4. 4/5Is a great app But.

   Update: App got fix and now it’s working well for me. Loving it now. Customer service gave me excellent experience. Updated to 4 stars, if they allow to choose more than 50 clips, that will be my 5 star. But over all, amazing app. I am brand new to 360 cameras and recently got my X5. Initial use of the app was great and I was able to choose multiple clips to edit using Ai auto edit. Im new so I still have a long way to know how to edit manually but Ai edit works well for me and minor editing. I updated the app and that almost made me return my X5 because of frustration. I cannot Ai auto edit multiple clips at once when I was able to do before and the clips are less than 4mins total time. Good thing insta did is a choice to be able to revert back to old version and with that, i am able to choose multiple clips and did the editing. Downside is, its really an old version with different layout I have to get to know. Hope they fix this soon. But have to admit, the X5 is really fun and nice but this app is making me think twice about keeping it.

5. 1/5Terrible app made worse with each update

   Review Update: as of 27 April the cloud export function has stopped working entirely. I just updated to the most recent version of the app and now have three clips in “Processing” status for four hours. These clips range from 30 - 90 seconds in length. As stated in the title…worse with each update! I bought an Insta360 camera specifically because of the Garmin integration. As a cyclist this is exactly what I was looking for. Sadly the desktop version where it would be far easier to do large scale editing is completely non-functional, which is a different issue entirely. Despite the massive inconvenience of trying to scroll through three hours of footage on mobile…that’s what I have been doing. But now with the most recent updates - nothing works. Stat overlays no longer export!!! They literally show up for one frame at the beginning of each clip and then disappear…but of course the stupid Insta360 watermark that I don’t want on the video remains in place perfectly. What’s even worse is that when contacting support they find every reason in the world to try and tell you it is YOUR FAULT. Even if you do everything exactly according to guidelines…or exactly how it had been working for weeks prior. This is the single most frustrating tech experience I’ve ever had, and buying an Insta360 camera has been the biggest waste of money I could imagine. Stop paying influencers to lie about how great your product is and actually do some engineering.
