1. 2/5Let’s Talk About the FEES

   Want to pay for a video visit? 20 minutes for $6 is reasonable. But wait…add an additional $5 fee to it, so now it’s $11 for 20 minutes. The max you can buy at a time is $18, and there’s a $5 fee for that too. Why not allow us to buy $50 or $100 at a time instead? Oh, because you’d lose out on ALL THOSE FEES. Similarly, you can only buy tablet time in $50 increments instead of $100. An $11 fee for every $50. This is an absolute ripoff. I’m a local politician, and I’ll be bringing all this to the attention of the media. I don’t begrudge this company a reasonable profit, but to make obscene amounts money on the backs of the family and friends of inmates is deplorable. Many of these families just lost their primary breadwinner to incarceration, and now must pay huge amounts to speak with their loved ones. Who for the most part, if they’re still n jail rather than prison, haven’t even been found guilty yet of their accused crime.

   I spoke to customer service more than I talked to my son. The video visit won’t connect and they can’t figure out why. They don’t care because there is no other choice, so they offer a lousy product knowing you can’t do anything about it. The prison is 6 hours away, so I can’t visit him at will. The people who created this app, that doesn’t work, along with charging outrageous prices and fees, need to be in prison next to the people they are exploiting. The video visit prices are absolutely outrageous. But the fees they charge are even worse! $6.20 fee for for $15 towards video minutes. If your loved one has to go through this phone or video service, I’m sorry. Customer service hasn’t been able to help fix the technical issues, but they are nice.

3. 1/5Unacceptable lack of information

   Here’s the critical information that should be readily available for users but can only be obtained after sitting on hold an hour and knowing how to get your questions answered. 1. A fifteen minute phone call is $3. That should be clearly stated somewhere but now you know. 2. You can’t accept phone calls on a cellular phone if it’s on speaker or if you have Bluetooth enabled. It took me a full nightmare of a day to figure that out. I don’t understand how they can have an app or website without a FAQ page or any information on how much money it takes to get a single phone call. Is it deliberate dark patterns to get people to add money they can’t get back, or is it just totally shoddy design?

4. 2/5Frequent Forced Logouts

   The app works well enough for what I need (phone calls / account top-ups) when you are fully signed in. I can accept calls through the app (which I cannot through my standard phone due to touch tone not working through my carrier), but those calls only come in when I am logged in… and the app logs you out every 30-60 minutes! There is little point to being able to accept calls through the app if you have to be monitoring it constantly to ensure you’re signed in. Will happily adjust my review upwards if InmateSales resolves this issue.

   If I could give this a zero stars, I would you’ve taken $50 of mine. I can’t even do the chirp. I can’t even do anything but continuously keep adding money and you can’t get through to anybody to get any help. You should be shut down for the way you treat people and how much lack of communication you leave inmates to families you take their money and you don Return it the fees are outrageous. Literally $15. You have to pay $21 cause there’s a such a big service fee and I can’t even communicate with them. I want my money back but you guys don’t even do that please this is ridiculous if you got it right, I will give you more stars but now I would love to do negative -5
