5/5Always Remember my First!
We first heard about GyPSy Guide when we went from Banff to Jasoer. We found it incredibly informative and entertaining. When there’s something to see (or a hike) “Fred” tells you when, what, how... and if it’s worth doing. When there’s nothing much to specifically look at, he’ll fill time with historical stories, oddities, lore, geology, biology, etc! So on our first trip to Hawaii, when I really didn’t know where we were or what to see or do, I got the island package and first used it on Kauai. I really can’t say enough superlative words about the app. As good (or better?) even then the jasper road one. While it was more obvious on the road to Jasper when there was a waterfall or viewpoint, how it worked because there was only one road, it worked just as beautifully with choices of places and directions and limited time. “Fred” helped us choose where to go, gave us lots of information about the history, culture, geology, and flora/fauna and weather. It tells you what is a must see and what to do or pass up depending on time. He speaks with humor and has a good voice. I like how he reminds of previous stories and continues them at various points. It was great for our 2 days on Oahu and then the 7 days on the Big Island. “Fred” even did a great job of explaining not only what to see in Volcano National Park and how to use our limited time wisely, but also about the important geology, history and biology related to the park. I seriously will purchase every single one available for every road trip or vacation we do from now on!!!!

5/5WORTH EVERY PENNY (and more)
I have never felt that an app was so valuable that it was worth the time spent writing a review... until now. I write this only to strongly encourage anyone visiting the Canadian Rockies to seriously consider purchasing the entire package—Icefields Pkwy, Banff,Jasper, and Lake Louise. My wife and I spent many hours researching and planning our trip to the Rockies and we still would have missed several key stops had it not been for this app. Even the Fairmont concierge’s recommendations were not sufficient. There are so many jaw-dropping stops, that it would be nearly impossible for a first-time visitor to plan a trip that properly balances time and value of each stop. The narrator provides just the right amount of commentary and detail to allow you to make an informed decision about what to see and how long to stay. In addition, the app works in real time with a phone gps, so there is no need to carry a map and count kilometers when you should be enjoying the spectacular views. I keep thinking of all I would have missed on this trip if not for this app. My wife and I are truly grateful.

5/5Must have for your Icefields Parkway trip!
I read about this app online before we left the US for Canada, and went ahead and purchased it and had it downloaded when we got there. Be sure to do this before your drive as there is no cell phone service along the drive. I was afraid my kids (boys ages 13, 16, and my 21 yr old nephew) would think it was cheesy and not want me to play it. Boy was I wrong! They quickly named the narrator “Clyde the Guide”, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the history as well as learning about upcoming stops and whether they were “must see” or “if you have time”. The narrator was fun to listen to, and made the time pass so quickly. We drove from Banff to Jasper, had lunch, then drove back and we listened both ways. The talking points were similar going both ways, but not exactly the same. It sure made our 12 hour round trip fun!! We are looking for more guides to use on our future travels!!

5/5Absolutely great
This app is super well done. The narrator is super fun to listen to and it really made our trip more enjoyable. He points things that we would have never noticed and is very educational. His suggestion for hikes are really good and more than once he helped us optimize the trip. Kudos!!! Highly highly recommended!!!! One note to the vendor: you should seriously consider redoing the Banff townsite app. The different narrator is pretty good and I would kill to have his voice but not as fun as the the one who did the rest of the package. Also - the tour itself is not as good as the others, as sometimes it would just tell you to “turn right “ without letting you know what you would be able to see there (ie if you do not follow the full tour in one day, it’s not as efficient as the other ones). Still kudos to the creators!

5/5Like having a personal guide in your car!
I rarely take time to write reviews, but this app deserves it. I downloaded the Canadian Rockies 4-pack app, which included this one. We did very little planning for our trip. We basically got in the car in Banff and went where this app told us to go. The guide provides very interesting info while you are driving and at the stops. We definitely saw things that we wouldn't have noticed or bothered to stop at if just using a map. Love that it tracks us with GPS to give us info at just the right time and works without cell service. To top it off, the narrator is actually enjoyable to listen to and is like have a personal guide in your car (different narrator for the Banff Townsite app than for the other 3 but he was good also!).
