1. 4/5Very nice improvement over built-in Home app

   This app makes managing HomeKit accessories and automations enjoyable and effortless. I’ve always found the built-in app cumbersome and frustrating, and therefore had never set up my home the way it should be. But after 10 minutes in Home+, I found myself happily organizing and renaming my sprinkler zones, remembering the horrible experience doing that in the built-in app. Now I’ve finally renamed and organized all of my accessories and automations they should be, and it was easy. Unfortunately though, Home+ doesn’t offer much more functionality than the built-in app. And like many other 3rd party apps, it doesn’t display HomeKit-enabled TVs, nor AppleTVs. These make the purchase price a bit difficult to justify for me. Ultimately the one feature that would make this more than worth the purchase price for me would be an additional “dashboard” view, with more flexibility in sizing and placement of accessories, groups, and scenes, all in one dedicated view alongside the existing views for Accessories, Groups, Scenes etc. My 1st-gen iPad Pro 12.9” serves as a wall-mounted, always-on control center for my home and music, and with Home+ there is no good way to show more than a handful of accessories and cameras on the screen at once for quick access. Just look at the app screenshots on the App Store listing to see all of the wasted space in the Accessories view. There are other apps that offer a customized dashboard view, but they fall far short of the elegance and simplicity of Home+. And at the end of day, this is the app I’d rather use.

2. 5/5Everything Apple Home App Should Be

   I don’t post many reviews in the App Store. But I feel like this app deserves it! Don’t let the price scare you away. Apple should hire this team to redesign the native home (HomeKit) app on the iPhone. I’m very much into home automation and I also use Home Assistant for my automations. But after finding this app I changed some of those over to this app with great success. It does take some time to figure out how to properly set automations, but in the end it’s so worth it. What I like the best with this app is the ability to set conditions for automation triggers. For example if I want my lights to come on when my Motion Sensors detect Motion they will but I can also set them to only come on if my TV is set to “off” then after Motion is not detected it will turn the lights back off again. Now if the TV is “on” nothing happens if I choose. This is just a small example of what is possible with conditions in automations. I also run a humidifier in my home but when the humidity in the room is above 50 this app turns my humidifier off and stays off until the humidity level drops below 45. This is awesome and I absolutely love this app. Again don’t let the price scare you away. You will not be disappointed. The author is here to help you if you have any questions. Thanks for making this app! I will be looking for any future releases from you guys!

3. 5/5Best Home Automation Program Available

   I have been using this app for a long time now and have seen it grow as apple allows the developers to have more options with the programming. I have spoken with Matthias on several occasions asking for various abilities that weren’t programmed in and if he was allowed he would come out with an update down the road incorporating my request. I have been looking for a way to turn on my lights a certain time before sunset since its dark in the house before sunset and after apple opened it up to developers Matthias put it in Home 3. This allows me to not have to worry about constantly changing the time the lights come on as the day lengthens or shortens. I also wanted the ability to activate devices only on certain days and that is now programmed in. Lastly I wanted the ability to move my scenes and automations around in the stacking order and that is also the case now. Everything I wanted in an automation program is now within Home 3. There are also other options that I don’t use now, but its great to know that if I want them in the future, they are there. This program is well worth the money I paid for it.

4. 5/5The best HomeKit controller

   There are lots of HomeKit-control apps out there. Though they all have their strengths, this is the one that has it all: the "missing" HomeKit automations that Apple's Home app lacks, a very polished user interface, and a HomeKit backup feature. Need to automate a valve? Done. Need to use *both* a contact sensor and a motion sensor to keep the lights on, with a *shared* shut-off timer? Done. The backup feature can save your bacon if you've got a lot of customizations. For instance, if you've put a lot of effort into device names, rooms, zones, scenes, and automations, restoring a backup can keep you from having to recreate all the customizations by hand. If you have ever opened your Home app to find everything returned to "Default Room," you know the frustration that I'm talking about. Note: There are two caveats I've found around backups. One is that a restore only works if your devices haven't actually changed; I think a device has to have the same internal ID to be restored. Don't remove and re-add it! The other caveat is that automations created using the "Convert to Shortcut" option in the Home app don't seem to be restored. I think the latter issue is due to Apple's current limitations in HomeKit. One final observation: If you use Homebridge, Home+ is a wonderful diagnostic tool. You can see the details of each Service and Characteristic, helping you track down configuration issues. You can stop looking for a better HomeKit app. This is it. 😎

5. 4/5Necessary for anyone serious about HomeKit

   This app does vastly more than Apple's Home app. You can set up much more detailed Triggers, you can see more characteristics, and you can generally troubleshoot and customize your HomeKit setup much better with this app. (There are a couple of things Apple's Home app can do that this app can't, but that's Apple's fault, not the developer's.) Unfortunately, it loses a star for the interface. It tries to look and feel more like Apple’s Home app, and position itself as a place to *use* HomeKit, not just set it up. And it misses. It’s harder and more confusing to use than in previous versions. In particular, unlike the Home app, there's no indication of when tapping on a scene will *edit* it, and when it will *activate* it. It’s still essential software though.
