5/5Keeps my brain strong
Watching fictional entertainment is all well and good for some. I enjoy it on occasion. However I am the mind set that if I am going to while away an hour or two I would rather learn something in the process. Even Curse of Oak Island has changed the way I view the world and the possibilities. Is history wrong, what was happening in the western world? Who is responsible for the structures. It's all so very interesting and gripping

4/5Great Story, So-So Streaming Production
I give it 4 stars, based mainly on the yarn spun by the series. 13 years and still blathering about the Knights Templar I’m reviewing the story so far by streaming from Season 1 Episode 1. I’m repeating some previously seen episodes and carching up on some I missed. The story line holds up pretty well even if some of the crackpot “expertsʻ” revelations are total jokes (e.g. The Phoenicians or Columbus pre-1492 sailing to Oak Island). My main problem is with the way the episodes stream and are proken up at random intervals by irrelevant ads. Yes, Iʻve discussed it with the cable company and I have up-to-date Apple soft- and hardware. Nevertheless, the story is a fun diversion and I can understand why History would want to keep stringing us along as the Fellowship pursues the next shiny object. Who knows, maybe Prester John is the next suspect. Happy digging and aloha.

1/5Worst streaming app I’ve ever used
I love history and all the History channel has to offer. However, the app itself is the worst streaming app and it’s not close. Sometimes the dialogue does not match the people’s mouths moving on the screen. The insane number of ads in a single episode (I can understand it to an extent). Sometimes I select the interactive ad experience, interact with it, and then it still ends up cutting to the 7 or 8 ads afterward. Pretty often I have to completely sign out of the app and turn my phone off because it tells me the episodes aren’t included in my tv subscription (they are included in my tv subscription), and once I sign back in, I have access to the episodes. Lastly, almost every time I pause an episode and go back to watch later, when I resume, I’m somehow 10 minutes earlier than where I left off. Love the content in the app, hate the streaming and performance of the app itself.

1/5Great shows, poor app
Simple things with the app are poorly done. For example, the ad breaks don’t align with the times in the program where there were commercial breaks when broadcast on TV, resulting in ads that cut off dialogue mid-word. Then after watching the ad and rewinding to hear the word, the ad cuts off the same word and plays again. Another example is the audio of the program will go silent while the video keeps playing 1-2 seconds before the ad starts. For multi-episode series, the pop-up banner to skip to the next episode appears way too soon, blocking the screen while the show is still playing. The app creators should use the Netflix app to see how it’s done right.

5/5Excellent programming
I am not one to sit down and watch a whole lot of television, but when I do find the moments that I really want to sit down and watch some good television the first channel I ever go to is history channel on my phone it is one of the first places I go to to stay caught up with all my current shows. Thank you for fixing television the way it needs to be.

          "body": "I give it 4 stars, based mainly on the yarn spun by the series. 13 years and still blathering about the Knights Templar I’m reviewing the story so far by streaming from Season 1 Episode 1. I’m repeating some previously seen episodes and carching up on some I missed. The story line holds up pretty well even if some of the crackpot “expertsʻ” revelations are total jokes (e.g. The Phoenicians or Columbus pre-1492 sailing to Oak Island). My main problem is with the way the episodes stream and are proken up at random intervals by irrelevant ads. Yes, Iʻve discussed it with the cable company and I have up-to-date Apple soft- and hardware. Nevertheless, the story is a fun diversion and I can understand why History would want to keep stringing us along as the Fellowship pursues the next shiny object. Who knows, maybe Prester John is the next suspect. Happy digging and aloha.",

          "body": "I love history and all the History channel has to offer. However, the app itself is the worst streaming app and it’s not close. Sometimes the dialogue does not match the people’s mouths moving on the screen. The insane number of ads in a single episode (I can understand it to an extent). Sometimes I select the interactive ad experience, interact with it, and then it still ends up cutting to the 7 or 8 ads afterward. Pretty often I have to completely sign out of the app and turn my phone off because it tells me the episodes aren’t included in my tv subscription (they are included in my tv subscription), and once I sign back in, I have access to the episodes. Lastly, almost every time I pause an episode and go back to watch later, when I resume, I’m somehow 10 minutes earlier than where I left off. Love the content in the app, hate the streaming and performance of the app itself.",

          "body": "Simple things with the app are poorly done. For example, the ad breaks don’t align with the times in the program where there were commercial breaks when broadcast on TV, resulting in ads that cut off dialogue mid-word. Then after watching the ad and rewinding to hear the word, the ad cuts off the same word and plays again. Another example is the audio of the program will go silent while the video keeps playing 1-2 seconds before the ad starts. For multi-episode series, the pop-up banner to skip to the next episode appears way too soon, blocking the screen while the show is still playing. The app creators should use the Netflix app to see how it’s done right.",
