5/5Amazing weather widget!
Since the release of iOS 14, I know everyone’s favorite topic right now is widgets. This weather app allows you to customize the color, icon designs, and shapes of your small, medium and large widget. I still have not paid for the premium version but the developer was kind enough to provide free options to get you try and test the widgets out. Honestly, I have been impressed so far. If I had one quirk, the hourly forecast (11am, 12pm, etc) the text gets cut off at times. Also if you have a long location name, the text tends to cut off at the bottom of the widget. I know this is version 1 so I’m excited to see where this ends up in the future. I will continue to update my review as the week progresses. Thank you for making this and hopefully they will continue to add an enhance to the experience, widget and app.

4/5Not displaying the correct/current weather
This app is really cool. I really enjoy and like how you can customize it to your personal liking. Just one problem that started happening, at least to me. For some reason, it is not showing the correct weather anymore. It is night time right now where I live, and it still shows that it’s daytime. The widget display and when you open the app, the animations and what it shows is daytime instead of night time. I give it four stars because of the multiple app icons and the awesome various options to personalize the widget. I recommend this app! Hopefully the bug gets fixed. :D Also, there are times that it has completely stopped working. Right now currently, it’s not showing anything at all. It’s also not restoring my purchased subscription so I can change the features for the widget. Update: I updated my iPhone Mini 12 to iOS16, and the widget works but it is displaying the wrong appearance and the wrong location/weather. Just thought to let you know. Waiting for another update! Great app!

**Update 6/2/23: I redownloaded the app with high hopes, even though I unfortunately had to sign up for another month just to see if it worked. It appears the Paris glitch is fixed, but I tried 2 different customizable widgets, and the first one wouldn’t even load. The second one loaded with a random background, not the graphic I chose. I even deleted and reinstalled the widget with no luck. I also restarted my phone. I have already cancelled my membership again. Since this one stopped working a few months ago, I found another customizable weather widget app that allows more in-depth customization and offers a lifetime charge at a fraction of the cost of this app 😞 I absolutely loved this app when I downloaded it with the customizable widgets. A few weeks ago, the widget on my phones Home Screen also started showing Paris as the location. The only reason I paid for the subscription was to have the customizable widgets, so the subscription has been cancelled until this can be fixed.

I'm playing with the widget feature now but so far so good! It has several options for free and far more customization then the standard weather widget. The app itself displays weather beautifully and I love all the additional data it gives you. The way it shows the weather throughout the day along the path of the sun from rising to set is surprisingly useful in a way I never thought! I do wish it had a bit more options for further customization but I am pleased with what it has so far!!

2/5Disappointing app
I am a lifetime purchaser of this app because I am hopeful the continued development will render a better product, because right now I can’t recommend it. Most of what intrigued me about Hey Weather was the live activities and Dynamic Island support. Both of those are inconsistent at best and even when they work are ugly and unintuitive. The developers need to copy the look of an app like Mercury Weather with the Dynamic Island and live activity look/feel of Carrot Weather. Right now the map doesn’t work for me because I block a lot of Google spam/tracking and they decided to go with Google Maps, instead of Apple Maps, with no ability to change it. Their privacy policy is not even a privacy policy. There are fully featured weather apps like Hey Weather that do not collect data AND are clear about what they collect and why in the privacy policy. There is no such transparency. Check the privacy policy page for yourself via the App Store link or in-app link.
