This update has been been a long time coming but I proudly present to all you metalheads out there Heavy Headlines 4.0! • Completely rebuilt to be faster, more stable, and easier to update • Concert ticket offers are now powered by Ticketmaster to bring you WAY better shows and first-sale tickets • Added Search functionality. Tap the search button in the header to easily find news about a particular band • Use 3D Touch to quickly preview stories • Added new feeds, fixed some existing feeds, and got rid of broken ones • New, much more metal loading animation • As a thank you to my loyal users all Themes are now free! • Probably some stuff I forgot because, hey, I’ve been working on this version for over a year! Fix for issue with feeds not loading. In full disclosure an API provider that I use to help with getting concert ticket info deprecated itself with no notice and that was causing the feed to never finish loading. I have fixed the issue and also prevented it from being an issue in the future.

Heavy Headlines 5.0 is finally here! I know it's been a while (I'm just one guy), but I cooked up some awesome new features in that time. Please enjoy and don't hesitate to reach out and send feedback via the "Send Feedback" button in the main menu of the app. Heavy Headlines 5.0 includes: - Revamped "My Bands" section of the app that now includes a Blacklist (or should I say Blackened-list?) where you can list bands to prevent nine versions of the same story about them clogging up your feed. - New "Filter" button at the top of the feed (replaces the "Tickets" button - cause well, you know) that lets you filter stories by category (Reviews, Premieres, Interviews, Videos, Live Performances, and Editorials). Please note that I've done my best to algorithmically categorize stories when no categories are provided by the news sites themselves so it may not be completely accurate just yet. - New news site: Extreme Underground Metal! Please check out the thoughtful, in-depth metal reviews published here by a dedicated fan of extreme metal. - Removed defunct news sites - Small tutorial on first-time app run to remind users that you can swipe to expand stories in the feed to get a nice preview - Better support for iOS 14 - Bug fixes and performance improvements

Heavy Headlines 7.0.0 is here and this is one of the biggest updates ever. I've been working on this for a really long time so I hope you all enjoy! Don't hesitate to reach out and send feedback via the "Send Feedback" button in the main menu of the app. I really do value your feedback and enjoy hearing from my users. There are really too many changes to list but the major ones are: - Keep read stories in-place in the feed and just visibly mark them as read instead of moving them to a separate section of read items at the bottom of the feed. - Massively improved band search. It now has a data source of 150000 bands and growing. - Importing your favorite bands now finds your favorite metal bands from your Apple Music Library as well as your iTunes Library. - You can now decide whether or not you want to see upcoming shows at the top of your feed. This can be disabled on the "Available Feeds" screen. - New "Upcoming Shows" filter in the feed filter menu lets you see all the upcoming shows near you in one spot. - Added app onboarding/setup for new and existing users to streamline things like importing favorites and asking for notification permissions, etc. - Reader View is back better than ever on the articles screen. - Lots of small design updates to make things a bit more modern-looking. - Cross promotion with my horror news app Horrid Headlines. Check it out! - Added a tip jar ("Make an Offering") if you would like to show your appreciation for all my hard work. - Performance improvements including faster feed loading. - Lots of little bug fixes.

Heavy Headlines 7.1.0 is here. I know it's been a while but aside from some maintenance type of stuff the app is really pretty feature-complete at this point and I don't have any ideas for much in the way of new features right now. If YOU do however and there are things you would like to see don't hesitate to reach out and send feedback via the "Send Feedback" button in the main menu of the app. I really do value your feedback and enjoy hearing from my users. 1. Improved Favorite/Blacklisted bands search to make it easier to add multiple bands at once. 2. I may have slightly tamed the full screen takeover ads/video ads on some of the sites. I can't completely stop them, nor would I if I could because those sites deserve their ad revenue. So I would ask that you please not give the app bad reviews because of ads I can not control. 3. Added Metal Sucks back in the hopes they'll just talk about metal again. 4. Some actual bug fixes (not like when you always see "Bug fixes and performance improvements" in every corporate app's release notes. Notice to EU users: Due to the European Union introducing burdensome regulations that I am unable to comply with, Heavy Headlines has now been removed from the AppStore in all EU countries. The app should remain installed on your devices but you will not be able to receive updates or install it on new devices (including via iCloud backups). I am truly sorry for this but there is unfortunately no way around it. Thank you so much for all of your support over the past decade plus. I truly appreciate it.
