   As someone who has been using this every day for quite a while, for a free app this is really good. The first thing I will ask is PLEASE bring back lane position. It used to have a box in the top left that showed real time how many lanes there were and arrows in all of the lanes that you could be in to stay on course. This made it much easier to stay on course with the audio turned off (my preference). The app was working better before one of the recent updates because when I used to go off course it would start to spasticity say “recalculating” but eventually it would recover. Now when I go off course it usually will be able to provide an adjusted route with the blue arrow on the map but the header that tells you the upcoming turns and street names is usually stuck on the turn that I went off course. And one other thing that’s not that important is when using the search feature I will put in an address and the results that pop up usually has the street listed above the address itself. Example: Search: 123 Main st. Results: [ Main st. [ 123 Main st. If you are in a hurry and click on just the street name it routes you to a random location on that street. If you guys can fix any or all of these concerns that would be great, very happy to be using this free app and I recommend it to all my colleagues. Thanks!

   Well, since I downloaded the Hammer app, it has performed pretty well. I run Texas OTR only and grew up in Texas, so I know Texas roads pretty good, being a fifth generation 64yo Texican. I’ve lived all over Texas and wouldn’t live anywhere else. I like the graphics and I like the warning ding when I’m over the speed limit, lol. Only flaw I have noticed is the same flaw all gps map systems have in Texas, there are still many places in Texas so remote that Google and Apple and Hammer can’t get a signal to my iPhone. Smile. Texas has many very remote locations. Only thing I would like to see is reports where the law has radar traps working. The Google maps has that feature, so I run Google and Hammer simultaneously. Hammer gives me trucker friendly routes and Google gives me heads up on speed traps. I have never had a speeding ticket in my life, but it’s always nice to know where they are working. Hammer gives me better truckers turn by turn and heads up way in advance of my next turn Google doesn’t. I have my truck governed for 85 so on the Texas tollways I can keep up. Google helps keep me legal with speed trap warnings. I use Hammer now exclusively and like it. Hats off to you Hammer. For a new free app, you are doing a great job. Keep it going, I am with you, cheering ya on. It’s been a while since I made this review. In addition, I would like to ask, if I leave my location on and take a different route than shown, based on prior knowledge, does the Hammer app learn from the input or do I need to make a notification somehow?    New driver been using it for 3+ months and hasn’t done me wrong. Sometimes has the same issue like most GPS. So be looking out but tbh only use this app. Oh and at some locations. It’s so outta the way it turns off but it’s only like 2-4 miles away but from that point you can check the map and be fine. Just be aware of where you need to turn into sometimes but that’s super rare. Only got 30k plus miles. So far so yeah. Update it’s been almost 7 months now using it. Haven’t much issues. Sometimes if I leave the app a lot it’ll mess up and not keep updating how many miles to a turn or something. Usually I’ll cancel it and it’ll work or pull over and do it really I mean. so it’ll catch back on. So don’t touch your phone much. even sometimes I’ll loose all service but it’ll still keep the GPS working some how. So it’s been really good to me. maybe in another couple months I’ll update yall again. I’d highly suggest getting this app and figuring it out for yourselves. it’s been a great help. It’s pretty much all I use for trip planning which isn’t super smart tbh. Never the less it’s been good to me. So add it to your tool box lol.

   I love that there is effort for a truck only GPS! Nobody else thinks there is a market for this service but trucking GPS devices are obnoxiously priced. I would never buy one because as truckers everything is over priced. Car GPS devices can be found for as low as you can find a truck strap. That being said, thank you for the effort. But the graphics and color schemes are not friendly to the eyes. Panning out is a nightmare. North only option seems like an afterthought. Inputting a destination requires you to press to many buttons. The HUD option does not change to your preferences. It just tells you whatever it wants to show you. Map freezes up often. If you go in a tunnel the map never recovers and it frozen until you manually reroute it. There’s no way to link my account to my different phones so my previous routes and destinations are never saved. It does not run in the background so if you leave the app to do something else the map freezes. It asks too late and leaves the screen too soon to report scale updates. It asks you for parking updates but never tells you where you are updating. Sometimes I feel it’s asking me to update an off ramp. Some truckstops don’t show up in the HUD. It doesn’t ask me for parking updates for rest areas and service Plazas. The option to report police are too many steps.

5. 5/5Very Good Free Truck App

   I usually use this app when I rent a U Haul truck and its done a pretty good job guiding me and keeping me on the roads and highway I’m allowed on. If you’re using this app for U Hauls too (15 foot or less), I would recommend using another GPS , one that you would normally use for regular cars/vehicles, along with this app because sometimes this app will make you take really slow or long lasting routes because I think it calculates the trip as if you’re one of those big trucks, which have more limitations on the roads/streets than the U Hauls. I would follow the regular GPS as long as it keeps me off parkways, and of course just be mindful of the height of your truck incase theres a street that has an overpass or something. Usually what will happen is after following the regular GPS, this truck app will recalculate the route and start giving almost the same directions as the regular one, give or take if it says to take a parkway, then you’ll need to alternate between apps and make sure you take the correct road or highway.
