  1. 5/5Instructional

I’ve been trying to get better at understanding the fretboard, and Guitar Triad Trainer has been a huge help. Triads used to feel confusing and disconnected, but the app makes it easier to see how they work across the neck.

  2. 5/5Love this app

This app helped me finally start learning triads across the neck instead of getting stuck in the same basic chord shapes. It’s simple, focused, and really useful as a daily practice tool.

  3. 5/5Love it!

This app is exactly what I needed for learning triads. Instead of just memorizing shapes, Guitar Triad Trainer helped me practice them in real progressions, which made everything feel more useful and musical.

Versions

App Store

  • 1.0
  • 1.0.1

Guitar Triad Trainer is now a free download with a free 3-day Trial and one $9.99 lifetime unlock. No subscription, ads, tracking, account, or cloud sync.

  • 1.0.10

We simplified the options screen to make it much easier to understand what is going on there. We also made it easier to adjust which frets and strings are in play. If you have not had a chance to check out the options yet, go in there. By the way, we also added a left-handed option for the lefties out there.

  • 1.0.11

Chord Explorer now places triad notes exactly where you play them on the fretboard, matching Progression Practice. This fixes a display issue where some fretted triad notes could appear one fret too high, including A minor shapes. The underlying chord notes were correct, and this update makes the chart line up visually with the real fret positions.

  • 1.0.12

Build triads across the whole neck with a clear path instead of guessing what to practice next. This update adds Triad Challenge, a guided 7-stage workout for major, minor, and diminished triads across all four string sets. Follow stage maps, unlock bite-sized loops, and watch your neck coverage grow as you learn every shape one step at a time. Diminished triads are also now part of the broader practice flow, so the Challenge, trainer, and explorer all line up musically.

  • 1.0.13

Keep your Triad Challenge practice moving. The Library now puts your next lesson and stage right on the home screen, making it easier to jump back in. Clearer lesson results show what you just covered and guide you straight to the next step. Small refinements throughout the app make each practice session feel smoother and more dependable.

  • 1.0.14

Keep note names visible as you move through every triad shape. Chord Explorer now honors your Notes fretboard-label setting across shape changes. This update also makes it easier to pick up where you left off in Triad Challenge, with your next lesson and stage surfaced in the Library and clearer lesson results.

  • 1.0.16 · 4 Aug 2026

Keep every practice session, Triad Challenge lesson, and purchase path working together. This update keeps note names stable across shape changes, improves onboarding and lesson continuation, and strengthens progress and access handling throughout the app.

  • 1.0.2

Improves the free trial and lifetime unlock screen so it is clearer that Guitar Triad Trainer has a free 3-day Trial, one $9.99 lifetime unlock, no subscription, no ads, no tracking, and no account.

  • 1.0.3

Fixes silent-mode audio playback, clarifies Sound On/Off labels, prevents chord sound from starting before Play, polishes the trial and lifetime unlock screens, and uses the real app icon on the loading screen.

  • 1.0.4

Chord Explorer is now part of the triad practice path. Open any chord to see its CAGED inversions across the neck, then bring the shape that makes sense back into your progression work.

  • 1.0.5

Keep the whole progression in view while you practice. The practice header shows every chord in the loop, with current and next highlighted, so longer progressions are easier to follow from the fretboard.

  • 1.0.6

Practice controls are easier to reach while you move through a progression. Frets and strings in play now sit directly by the fretboard with clear chip controls, and wider layouts make better use of the space around Back, Play, Next, Key, BPM, and Options. You can also tap any chord in the header to jump straight to that part of the loop. Dark mode readability is improved too.

  • 1.0.7

Practice across string sets without losing the map. When a loop uses D-G-B and G-B-e, the trainer keeps both routes in rotation so the progression travels naturally instead of getting stuck in one position. The fretboard also keeps your full selected fret range visible, with cleaner iPad practice layout polish.

  • 1.0.8

Practice starts cleaner and sounds more dependable. This update tightens chord playback, makes purchase and restore status easier to understand, and polishes the path from trying Guitar Triad Trainer to building full saved triad sessions on iPhone and iPad.

  • 1.0.9

Start learning triads with a clearer 7-day trial. This update refreshes the upgrade screen, keeps lifetime unlock available, and makes purchase and restore status easier to understand before you build saved triad sessions on iPhone and iPad.
