  1. 3/5A little better

Still doesn’t do anything well except play the daily radio program. That at least is simple. When I search sermon archives for a specific sermon in John’s gospel it pulls in letters of 1-3 John, then John ch1 and skips to John ch10 from there. If I scroll down and wait while it loads more sermons, I can actually then get chs 2-7 (listed out of order) but 8 doesn’t show. If I try to choose ch8 specifically, it’s not in the list. If I decide I’ll skip to ch9 because I can’t find ch8 and actually start a sermon, at least now I can pause and play and (usually) go back to it later in my day without the app resetting to nil. But it still does that somewhat often. Which means I have to try to go back through all of the above slow loading process to try and find where I was again. It’s just very sad. I loved when it was easy to listen to message after message of my brother who is no longer with us. Please make fixing this app a priority! I have the newest Apple software (just in case it helped with THIS app) and the newest version and it’s near unusable still.

  2. 3/5Very different experience

I have used the GTY sermon app for 4 years now ever since I found it through Fundamentals of the Faith. It is one of my favorite apps giving me access to an intimidating amount of JMACs sermons to listen to any time of day whether on the way to work, working in the yard, and more. I have grown immensely and am so thankful for GTY. That being said, this new app is very different and not as I expected so I will provide what is hopefully some helpful feedback. My love of the GTY app is the ability to find, download, and listen to sermons. I appreciated the basic presentation of the previous app and found it more difficult to find my way around with this new app with all the large images. I also noticed that there are more sermons available in the previous app and maybe that will change. My biggest letdown was the lack of a playback que for sermons and not being able to send sermons to others. Hopefully these updates will come in the future but for now I will continue to use the tried and true GTY Sermons app. I hope this is helpful, thank you

  3. 4/5It does work but I miss some things from the old app

It has taken me some time to get used to this new app. I understand the need or desire for GTY to upgrade their app. With that in mind I do want to suggest a couple updates to it to bring back some of the old app’s functionality. 1. Have something come through when a phone is locked while playing a sermon. Before on the old app you could play, pause, skip or jump back on your Lock Screen whereas now you have to open your phone and go into the app. 2. Have a button on the top corner that takes you back to the sermon you were previously listening to but had stopped. Currently you have to go searching for the sermon you were listening to and hopefully it picks back up where you left off. 3. It would be nice to have some form of notification that you have played/finished a sermon because you can easily get lost in a series and forget what sermons you listened to. 4. Bring back the numbering system which allows you to stay within a specific timeframe of a series of sermons. For example if I want to stay within a series going through a book that was preached in the 90’s but he preached through the same book later in the 2000’s how are we to know which sermons belongs to which time? The numbering system that was at the beginning of a sermon title was extremely helpful for this. With these changes I think it will greatly enhance the listeners experience. Thank you for all you do for Christ and His church! God bless!

  4. 3/5Content is Awesome but UI is lacking

My only issue is the UI. I enjoy the sermon archive where I listen based on bible book and chapter. I am constantly going to this part of the app. I wish the app either made the link to this on the top of the first page or made it easier without scrolling. The web version is worse. I have to dig for the sermon archive link using web mobile version. The transcripts are really only usable on the web version. On the app it is on a floating overlay that will close I you touch anywhere off it loosing the scroll position. Then you have to start over and find where you left off. So I end up using the web version more often. I also wish the app maintained the state so when it was opened it would return for instance to the sermon archive. How do you pause the audio or back it up while following with the transcript? You can’t! Groan, you need two devices, one to listen on and the other to read on. This is not designed by a user that uses the app!

  5. 1/5D.O.G.E. Needs to Investigate Money Spent on GTY APP

As a supporter of Grace to You’s mission to proclaim God’s truth, I welcomed the app’s recent upgrade with hope. John MacArthur’s faithful teaching has long blessed the church, but this update grievously undermines that legacy. The app, far from improved, is now more difficult to use than its predecessor. Searching sermons by book no longer separates them by chapter, and in cases like Romans, the sermons lack chronological order, sowing confusion among users. This dysfunction thwarts the app’s purpose as a tool for spiritual growth, dishonoring the ministry’s calling. Worse, the costly upgrade suggests squandered resources, with whispers of insider profiteering tainting the effort. If true, such stewardship is an abomination, violating the biblical call to be above reproach (1 Timothy 3:2) and handle funds with integrity (2 Corinthians 8:20-21). The church deserves better than a product that fails its mission and raises doubts about accountability. I urge Grace to You to fix these failures swiftly, clarify the upgrade’s costs, and realign with Christ-honoring excellence. This critique stems from love for the ministry and a longing for its fruitfulness. May wisdom and repentance prevail. In Christ, A Concerned Believer
