5/5Might be the best RSVP app out there
Pretty blown away by the customizable nature of this app, especially with the new changes to the font settings. One of the colors schemes I would like to request is the inverse of the tritanopia friendly color scheme. Essentially a bright green focus letter with white for the remaining letters & solid black background. I’ve always found green to be an easier color to focus on without even trying since it is the broadest wavelength in the visible color spectrum & it’s easy to see, even in bright sunlight conditions. The app itself is exceptional. Only uses one percent of the battery for every 15 minutes on the screen, which is better than every other RSVP app I've used. One feature I would like to request is a blink setting where rather than a fluid transition between each word, the words rather flash on the screen between transitions. Sometimes I like to use this app even when I'm tired and I’ve found apps that have a flash setting like I've described, make it even easier to focus on the reading content. I've also found it to be helpful when the wife has her audiobooks playing in the car, for some reason, I can’t explain it maintains comprehension & focus more so than just the focal letter alone. Probably the only other thing that I've seen on other apps that would be useful is if the content being displayed or scaled to fit the width of the active screen rather than having it run off of the screen. Oh, and maybe a backspace/fast-forward button like that old school spritz internet plug-in had. Just suggestions the app as it stands is already better than 95% of the ones I’ve used (entirely too many)

5/5Solid Functional App
The app offers great customizability and I like that it isn't subscription based like so many other apps in the app store. That alone makes me want to support the author of this app. The author is very helpful when I contacted him about a slight glitch with some specially formatted epubs that I was trying to import. Solid 5 out of 5.

5/5Works great but Apple Watch app would be sweet
Works really well, although it does have occasional performance issues and stutters at times. An Apple Watch app that lets you read books right on your wrist would be awesome.

4/5Great app. Few bugs.
Great app so far. It does seem like there is a small bug with the Dyslexic fonts. All but “Verdana” look exactly the same. It’s also a bit weird that I can’t edit the reading goals. Seems like I should be able to dictate what I’d like as a goal. The swiping up and does to change the speed is not super consistent. Lastly when I read a chapter and stop half way through. Once I go back in the chapter starts over, which is a bit annoying. Other than that this is a great and well thought out app. It’s good to see developers embrace the pay first model instead of gouging customers through subscription models.

5/5Finally making it through my reading backlog!
Absolutely incredible app. Does exactly what it says on the tin, and simply! It’s doing wonders for my chronic putting-off-reading. Really great. Already telling everyone I know. (Dev: I’d love the ability to save articles to a queue in the app! 🙏🏻) UPDATE: The request I had has already been implemented! No notes at all. App is perfect now!

Some EPUBs that indicate chapters with chapternumber elements should now be handled by Glance.

1.2
In 1.2, we're delighted to introduce the much requested "Overview Mode"! When opening a chapter, you'll now be greeted with a sentence-by-sentence view. From there, you can either start speed reading in vertical mode using the new reading mode toggle, or switch to landscape for a minimalistic reading experience with familiar gestures. We hope you enjoy the changes and look forward to your feedback!

In 1.3 we added support for .mobi books! Now you can also enjoy Glance-ing (drumroll) at these books in a stylish and efficient way.

In this version a lot has changed. TL;DR You need to re-import your books, we are very sorry for this inconvenience :( - We use SwiftData to persist your books now, so no more indexing errors if books change. We saw no failure-proof way to migrate from the old storage solution to the new without allowing all kinds of errors. - Based on your feedback you now are able to change your reading goals and pick up where you left off sentence-wise. Your last sentence position is stored. - We simplified the color picking with a selection of 14 colorschemes. If you are missing your favorite scheme, please write us an email and we may include it in future versions of Glance :) - You now have a fully-featured font selector. Choose any font you like. But don't complain if you can't read Wingdings :-) - The loading times are much better for opening long chapters. We parse the book while importing it and use an on-device storage for these texts such that especially mobi files open now in a breeze.

2.1
- Errors with some EPUB files should now be resolved (For the people who read change logs: Some table of content entries end not only with e.g. chapter1.html but have an added #filepos1337 after the URL. This causes issues if not handled properly..) - Added a dark mode tritanopia colorscheme :-) - Some minor improvements. If you had issues with books, try deleting and re-importing them. We'll be glad to listen to your feedback!

2.2
- WPM Indicator and Progress overview in a chapter are now tinted in style with the chosen colorscheme - Word counter is now correct (counted characters previously, oops!) - When you finish reading a chapter in landscape mode, you can now tap on the screen to go back to the chapter list, this should be handy for iPad users :-) Enjoy! Thank you very much for your feedback!

2.3
In this version you will now be able to add URLs to a new WebShelf. Simply go to the new tab, add your favorite internet articles and must-reads and you should be able to read them within Glance! We hope you will enjoy this distraction-free reading experience. If you have issues with some websites, please let us know so that we can investigate whether there is something that can be about it :-)

2.4
TL;DR: WebShelf now supports your own texts, and new colorschemes In this update the WebShelf is further enhanced and you can now enter articles manually, just copy-paste whatever you would like to read, give it a title and it's in your WebShelf waiting for you to be read. Articles in the Webshelf now also memorise your last reading position, so you can interrupt one read and come back later to it. There are also a number of new colorschemes, I hope you'll like them :-) If you have feedback, please reach out to us! We hope you'll enjoy this new update!
-
2.4.1
A small update that shouldn't change anything for most users, but should fix issues for some users. 1) The speed reading view should now look correct for users with text size accessibility settings 2) The WebShelf now supports non-utf8 websites (great news for our non-english-reading friends!) Hope you enjoy this update :-)

2.5
Honey wake up, new EPUB Parser just dropped! Some EPUBs split a chapter into several .html files, which breaks the parser for some books. We've implemented a new parser, which we tested on our library of EPUBs and can now claim that there are overall 15% more words detected. (These 15% are not evenly distributed, most books work perfectly fine and nothing changed. For some books, major parts were missing because of this issue, and those should now work better). If you encounter any issues, please let us know! Happy reading!

2.6
Kannitverstan! In this update you can press and hold on a sentence in vertical mode to either copy, or translate it into a language of your choosing! Enjoy reading!

2.7
Bienvenue, Bem-vindo, Добро пожаловать, Bienvenido and Ласкаво просимо! In this release we now add App translations for French, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian :-) Reading unites us and stories are experienced everywhere. We hope that Glance is more approachable that way for non-english speakers. If you encounter translation errors, please let us know and we'll fix them :-) Щасливого читання, Feliz lectura, Приятного чтения, Boa leitura, Bonne lecture

2.7.1
Summer vibes! This update is a small fix: Some epubs store their chapter contents not as .xhtml or .html files, but as .htm files. These files are now also handled, more books should work flawlessly :-)

Good Morning everyone! with this update we have a small feature that may be handy for some :-) You now can import books from your files, mails, messages, wherever you have them stored, directly into Glance via the iOS "Open In" interface! Furthermore MOBI files should now import the parsed content, not the content including markup language, whoops! Also, Glance approaches its first Birthday, thanks to everyone who decided to support this app, we're very grateful! Happy Reading to you!
