1. 5/5All star in the digital card game!

   I have to start off by saying that I absolutely love paper cards. There is something very exciting and satisfying about holding and opening up a card and reading it. But in a day and age where convience is key and tangible gifts and recipients are not always a click away... GIVINGLI has change the game for me! This past month alone, a few close friends have celebrated momentous occasions. With Covid-19 and social distancing in place, I wanted to make sure I was able to celebrate, even from a far. Not only was I able to send them all beautiful digital cards that were much more thi if haul and creative than others ones on the digital scene.... I was able to attach a gift to it!! I cannot reccomend this App enough. It was very easy and a pleasure to use! All the recipients were impressed!! Good job Givingli, keep it up!

2. 1/5Nothing is Free

   Honestly I was so excited to try this because I’ve already been doing this same thing myself. I would create a digital version of a card, and email/text it to the recipient for the occasion, but sending a gift had to be done separately, and that is a bit of a pain. I thought I would at least be able to try out this app, which claims to have a free version, but none of the quality designs are free, and it seems you have to pay to customize any design, which just…really defeats the purpose. There also I believe is a fee on top of the gift cards, which I’m not sure is necessary. I am also irritated that they require a phone number to use it. Not that my phone number is so private anymore, but they’re lying about why they collect that data. If you read their Privacy Policy, you realize that isn’t collected to prevent spam, but actually to connect your app data to your other ad profiles. They are selling off your data profile to third parties, and that’s going to be their biggest profit, which makes it further annoying that none of the app is truly free.

3. 5/5Pros and cons

   We will start with pros here we go: Givingli is a super fun app I’ve used it for a week it’s really fun and easy to use it’s good for almost anything like special occasions, checking in on someone, or best friend cards! I definitely recommend using this app for completely free! Another cool thing is you can send gift cards through the app (as a in game purchase) super cool I love it. Now the cons: It constantly ask you to rate it or turn notifications on, and if you leave the app for more than like five seconds it will automatically reset(even if you leave the tab open). Other than the cons I still a hundred percent recommend using Givingli I love it 5 stars!!

4. 2/5Great, when it WORKS.

   I used this app a couple times for birthday gifts for friends and it worked okay. I thought it was convenient and I loved making custom cards. I had an issue with my payment but after trying a few different things it went through. Then, a few months later, I tried using it again. The app refused to accept any of my payment options (even though I know for a fact I had all of my information correct, and my payment works fine everywhere else but on this app). I tried EVERYTHING to try to get it to work because I had already spent all this time creating a custom card and picking out a gift. After trying at least 30 different times using different strategies, the app STILL would not let me buy my friend a gift as it was declining all of my payment options. I really wanted to like this app but I’m definitely deleting it off my phone now. It was such a waste of time and energy.

5. 1/5Privacy concerns and error messages

   This app is something I’d use regularly to send friends and family gifts. The card designs are cool and adding text is easy, fun and feels creative. Unfortunately, though, there are a few things I don’t love. First, the app seems to require a phone number in order to sign up. And when I use a Google Voice-type number, it doesn’t work. That raises a red flag for me considering that I’ve used many apps and websites to purchase things where I’ve not ran into that problem. I’ve also read that it can be a privacy and security risk to share a personal cell phone number with businesses. Also, it seems like the app requires access to ALL of my contacts in order to send a card. Reluctantly, I did all that and tried sending a digital card. But the link caused the following error message each time I tried to view the card online: “Safari can’t open the page because the server can’t be found.”
