   The app is disappointing. You can’t add things to your schedule that you are interested in, but don’t have a ticket for. I buy tickets for my must dos, which are great to have collected into a schedule but then I use generics so I have more flexibility. It be nice to have the option to add events I’m interested in that I don’t have a ticket to or even Sold out events, because often you can show up with a generic and play when a ticket holder is a no show.

2. 1/5Not very useful

   I downloaded this app to use for the 2024 GenCon and compared to what I saw in the App Store and what I downloaded it’s not very helpful. I can’t plan anything before I go (unlike the app for Origins). I had a better planning for my upcoming trip by just going on line, printing out the small map, hand highlighting everything, writing the booths I wanted to go to in my phone’s note, write what I wanted to do in my phone notes, and look at the schedule and filter that way. This app was worthless. In fact it was one of these worst apps I have every used. It didn’t have the map of the convention, only the Indianapolis area. Unlike GAMA app, I was able to mark the booths I wanted to go to, schedule to events I wanted to attend, and see on the map where things were! I am very glad I didn’t pay for this app.

3. 1/5This app does not work

   If the app store is to be believed, this app was updated yesterday. I downloaded this update. Yet when I open the app I get nothing but an endless swirling star and no actual connection to any Gen Con information. It does not even fit my iPad screen. Are there actual developers involved in this process? I am not even asking for much. I would just like to have maps of the Convention Centers and a list of events. I don’t even have to have a way to contact my fellow attendees, which this app advertises, although that would be nice, or a way to see all my events, which would be the next basic level of functionality. Gen Con has 70,000+ attendees. It’s a major event. WHY ON EARTH is there no money spent on an app in this day and age?! I’d also like to know why the most recent review of this app was three years ago. Has no one opened this app since then??

4. 1/5Barely functional

   This is a map of an event that is barely usable. You have to zoom in to see what is where, but you will not find anything without using the search function because the lag is strong, even on the most recent phones. The event search defaults to showing you things that have already happened unless you filter them out. In what world would I ever want to see events that have already happened that I can’t go to? There’s again no real way to find what you’re looking for unless you search. To make it worse, if you try to go from events back to map, it glitches out and the only way to fix it is to hard restart the whole app. Have had to do this at least 10-20 times per day while at the con. Overall, it’s one of the worst convention apps I’ve ever used.

5. 2/5Slow, clunky, missing functionality

   Even when not at the con it loads slowly, refreshes and loses pages, and is challenging to navigate. Add the cell service issues and the overload the con puts on the app itself and it’s nearly unusable during the event. There are several key functions you can’t do in the app that are available in the web interface (notably wishlists) so there’s not much reason not to use the website. The actual info contained is useful, but it’s hard to reach reliably. P.S. Don’t even think about using the app for any time limited ticket purchase.
