1. 2/5Useful but boy can be super annoying

   It’s a useful app at times if you fill up at Shell but boy does it hit you over the head if you don’t do everything it wants. It really wants to have both motion/fitness data (not 100% sure why but I’m not using it for that regardless) as well as precise location and always on location. I understand WHY it wants precise and always on location (for geo targeted notifications and data tracking) but I don’t want to/wont give that info as it doesn’t really improve how I want to use the app. Because of that though EVERY time I open the app I get forced pop ups asking for 1st fitness info (and I have to press cancel, no option for just “no”) and then another pop up for precise and always on location (same thing need to cancel) THEN it will have another in app screen asking for location which I need to press “not right now” to temporarily get rid of it. Seems to be a habit of pushing the pop ups too. Even for this review they asked me to rate and review 4 times in a row. The first 2 I just said jot right now on (and the next popped up immediately) and then I decided to rate and leave this review and 10 seconds into typing they asked a 4th time). Weird product decisions/goals.

2. 3/5Great reward but confusing to get it working

   I give this 3 stars because it took over a month for it to work for me. At the beginning, I entered my Alt ID number on the pump screen and recognized me as a member. Then I scan my card and star pumping gas. In the end, no discount applied. I tried different ways but always entering my alt ID on the pump screen first. I finally gave it up. However, yesterday I just scanned my credit card and the screen shows a different message. It displayed that I have a discount. After filling the tank, I got the discount and it showed up on the app. The last time, I was standing at the pump for more than 10 minutes , trying different methods but the system kept displaying that my reward has been used. I haven’t even start pumping gas yet. If the linked credit card has not been charged, how does the app thinks that I used the reward? So minus 2 stars just for the frustration that I gone through. Also, some station has different price than what the app shows. One of them was 30 cents higher at the station than what the app shows. I’m not sure if this is app issue or the station did this on purpose to lure customer to their station.

3. 1/5Horrible Rewards Program Changes

   I’ve been a loyal Shell customer for about 8 years. The rewards program used to be so beneficial that I would drive the extra distance to find that nearest Shell station over all other competitors. But the “program” as a whole, is now basically useless unless you want to spend even more money inside the gas station buying junk food. It used to be that you would ALWAYS—no matter what—get 10¢ off for putting in your Fuel Rewards #. When I was out of grocery rewards, I would jump to my Fuel Rewards and still get a little discount on gas. And, if I happened to be out of Fuel Rewards points, I knew that buy paying full price for gas would help me restore some points and get back into the higher status tiers for rewards next time. Then it decreased sometime after COVID to 5¢. Then all of a sudden, it was only 3¢. But hey, if I was out of grocery rewards, 3¢ off was still worth it when competitors didn’t offer ANY rewards. Now, the rewards program is exclusive to non-gas-related purchases made either in store or through connecting a hundred other unrelated partner apps to the Fuel Rewards app. So I now have to patronize specific restaurants, airlines, and Shell convenience stores—making qualifying purchases in order to save a few dollars on gas??? I’m so sick of the greed in this country! Loyalty means nothing anymore.

4. 1/5If I could give it a Zero rating I would since that is exactly how much help their app support is!!!

   I have never been sooo frustrated with support from an app as I am with this one and the Fuel Reward app that it is supposed to work with but doesn’t & no one can seem to fix it!!! I have spent the past hour and a half going back and forth between the two apps speaking with several different people though no one can actually fix anything or send me to someone who can…have tried several things they have suggested yo no avail & I am thoroughly aggravated…need to get ready for work now and try to leave my anger at home/not take it to work since I work in Retail which is difficult enough without me being aggravated when I show up for my shift!!! And, what is really most aggravating is that the support at Shell wanted to argue with me about the email that I am seeing on the two apps…telling me I was wrong even though I was looking at the apps!!! And, if it wasn’t bad enough I was asked to take a survey at end of call which asked me to rate from 0-10 how likely I was to recommend Shell app to my friends and when I answered with a 0 it told me that was NOT a valid selection so I listened a second time and was the same choice of 0-10 for rating but once again told 0 was not a valid option!!! To say the least, Shell (and Fuel Rewards) apps need to be FIXED BY SOMEONE THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING like maybe IT!?! BEYOND RIDICULOUS and if it weren’t for T-Mobile rewards I would like to be able to get by using these apps I would NEVER get gas at Shell again & once I find another way to save on gas prices I will most definitely never get gas at Shell again!!!

5. 1/5BEWARE! Credit Card info stolen after putting it in this app!!!

   UPDATE! I’ve had the same card number for years never had an issue. After putting my card and husbands in this app, BOTH cards were compromised!!! Fraudulent charges were made with three days of each other on each card. In addition to this, customer service NEVER responds. Apple should remove this app. After receiving the developer response I called the number and waited on hold for over 10 minutes. They stated in the response that they don’t store the CCV number. This was the only variable in both cases of our cards being stolen that was incorrect therefore the bank caught it and deactivated the cards immediately. Now I’m even more convinced this is how my card information was obtained. I have consistently not received the rewards earned. When I called customer service they said it must be the store, except it is happening with all stores (grocery, hardware, farm stores). They told me to send in receipts. I’ve sent them now three times (bc’ing my two personal email accounts) and they never get them although they deliver everywhere else. So in summary, they are getting all my transaction history for my MasterCard (lots of free data for them!) but I’m not getting my end of the deal. If this isn’t resolved within the week I’m removing my cards and going elsewhere.
