  1. 5/5Friendster Is Back, and It Gave Me a Different Kind of Social Media Feeling

I didn’t expect to feel this way, but opening the new Friendster actually made me pause for a second. It’s so different from everything else right now. No ads popping up, no algorithm trying to guess what I want, no pressure to keep scrolling. It just feels… quiet in a good way. What really stood out to me is how you connect with people. You don’t just randomly add someone. You have to be physically near them. It sounds simple, but it changes everything. It makes connections feel more real, not just another follow or number on a screen. The app itself is very minimal. Almost too simple at first, especially if you’re used to apps like Instagram or TikTok where there’s always something happening. Here, it’s just your friends. No noise. No distractions. Of course, it’s still early. Not a lot of people are on it yet, and there aren’t many features. But honestly, that might be why it feels kind of special. It doesn’t feel like it’s trying to hook you or keep you glued to your phone. It feels like it’s giving you space. And that’s rare now. If you’re someone who’s getting tired of the constant scrolling and just wants something more real and low-pressure, this might actually surprise you.

  2. 4/5The Real OG!

Friendster today feels like a platform with its heart in the right place but one big limitation holding it back: you can only add friends through phone‑to‑phone linking. That single design choice turns what could be a nostalgic, social experience into something surprisingly closed-off. There’s no way to browse the community, discover who’s on the platform, or send a friend request to someone you actually want to reconnect with. That means no adding childhood friends, no finding relatives overseas, no rediscovering old classmates, no expanding your network beyond whoever is already in your phone. For a social platform, that’s a pretty big ceiling. It’s the opposite of what made the original Friendster fun—and it’s a sharp contrast to Facebook, where you can search for people, explore mutuals, and actually grow your network. On Friendster, if someone isn’t in your contacts, they might as well not exist.

  3. 5/5Feels like I’m in the void

I don’t think there ain’t much people downloading Friendster yet and so far it’s quiet and nice. Didn’t see any ads or recommended people on my feed yet. It’s nice and refreshing if you ask me.
