1. 1/5I used to love this app but it no longer works

   One last update (December 2023). I still can’t recommend this app as none of the issues I’ve described have been fixed by any of the most recent updates. Updating this review to note that the most recent update (summer 2023) has further broken this app. Instagram won’t load at all and Facebook loads incorrectly 9/10 times. (The good news is that I’m now finally deleting my Facebook.) It’s a shame because it was once the perfect app. Now it’s unusable. I loved this app (paid version) because it let me sort Facebook posts by most recent instead of letting an algorithm direct my attention. And I love the ability to block ads. But lately it’s become increasingly buggy. Sorting by most recent no longer shows every post. And, as of today, I can no longer see groups (which I prefer to check manually instead of following). I hope they update it. I will probably keep it since I’ve already paid, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone searching for a functioning way to manage social media accounts.

2. 1/5Great replacement for "actual" Facebook app

   Some update to Facebook yet again removed the option to sort by most recent, never mind the fact that it would never stay on that setting anyway. This app immediately is miles ahead - right from setup (which only takes seconds) I can choose to set the news feed to most recent, and it stays that way! Plus I don't have to download yet another app just to be able to message on Facebook now (I stubbornly refused to ever download or use their messenger app, I think that's such a crap model). And, no ads. Well worth the $3, highly recommend! Update January ‘24: Not working nearly as well anymore. The top bar is inaccessible and when I refresh the most recent feed for new posts, it takes me to another view entirely - all of a sudden it’s things from days ago appearing first in the feed and I can’t go back to the most recent view unless I force quit and reopen the app. Second update January ‘24 There was a version update and about all it fixed was the top bar. If I reopen the app after not using for a period of time it still resorts to something like most popular. Message and all other icons gone so that has been broken in the new update. And for some stupid reason, reporting an issue requires me to have an email address associated ahead of time, just flashes an error that “no email configured on device” but no info on how to address. And even though I do have one for my FB account. Turns out it forces you to add your email to the native Apple Mail app to report which is also extremely dumb. I use the gmail app stop trying to make me use other crap for the simple aspect of reporting a technical issue. I’m ready to delete this and without this, Facebook entirely.

3. 1/5Used to be my go-to app for Facebook, but not anymore

   Something broke in one of the recent updates. Now it abruptly quits while I’m browsing. On Startup, it throws a “This Browser is no longer supported” error before the Friendly Plus newsfeed appears. (IIRC, Friendly Plus is using Safari? I don’t get to choose so I can’t do anything about this error.) My newsfeed is overrun with ads, People I Might Know, Recommended Pages, Recommended Groups, etc., all of which I have previously disabled. If I drill down on a picture, I’m not able to save it locally OR close it, I have to completely shutdown the app. The same thing happens sometimes when I click-through by selecting More… on a post in a vain attempt to read more. I see almost no posts from my Friends or Pages and Groups that I DO follow and want to see. This was previously my favorite app and I recommended it to everyone. Not any more. I’ve gone back to reading FB in a Browser because at least I didn’t PAY for that daily aggravation, unlike Friendly Plus.

   I used to LOVE this app for Facebook. It used to be great! But now it no longer works - it just passes Facebook’s horrible mobile UI through. It no longer blocks ads or any content I had it set up to filter. I’ve reported this bug numerous times to the developer via the app for well over a month. No response. There’s been a couple updates to it since, but the issue remains unresolved months later. I’d sincerely appreciate it if the developer could use an in-app message or something to let us know whether they’re working on this or not. That would help me know if I should patiently wait, because I’m about ready to abandon it completely - which is sad, as I’ve used this app faithfully every day for years. Seriously, I’d be willing to pay a small subscription fee for this app if they’d keep it working. I realize that it could be Facebook screwing things up, but again, it would be nice if the developer of this app could somehow message us to let us know that, so they don’t take all the blame.

5. 1/5Deletes your edits before you can post- extremely frustrating

   Anytime you’re editing a post you need to scroll up by swiping down to get to the top in order to press the post key on the upper right corner. But, if you scroll a little bit too far the page your on refreshes and you loose everything you wrote. The same thing happens when you type a long post and try to add photos to it; I’ve had so many thoughtfully written posted get deleted because of this bug that I’m deleting this app and going back to Facebooks app. At this point I don’t care what anyone does to me or my data, or who they sell it to; I just want to be able to post anything without loosing everything I wrote over half the time. How is it that this bug persists? Why didn’t I uninstall this app a long time ago? If you’re precise enough to scroll without causing the page to refresh before click the post button, then you’ll probably be really good at gold cause that’s what it feels like I’m playing. But the difference is if you don’t scroll a hole-in-one every time, you loose everything you’ve written!
