This is our biggest update yet, with the features Flat users asked for most, plus a lot of reliability work. New • Saved custom filters: build your own named views with a search and an icon, and add them to your timeline. They sync across your devices with iCloud. • Flat Pro Lifetime: buy Flat once and keep Pro forever. • Reddit feeds work again. If you use Reddit, open the new Reddit setting and follow the steps to get your feeds running smoothly. • Choose how each feed opens its articles: in Flat, in Reader mode, or in the in-app browser. • Keep your place more easily: turn on "Dim items you've caught up on" in General settings to gently fade the articles you've already read. • Your reading position can now sync across devices, so you can pick up right where you left off. • Swipe past the top or bottom of an article to jump straight to the previous or next one. Improvements • Shared articles now appear as their own feed you can manage like any other. • Article links now open in a full-screen browser inside the app. • Adding feeds is more reliable, especially on a poor connection. • The dark app icon is now a softer matte gray instead of pure black. Fixes • Fixed a subscription glitch where Pro could briefly fall back to Free right after launch. • Fixed a crash when saving an image. • Podcast episodes you delete by hand no longer get downloaded again automatically. • Fixed some videos in the queue that wouldn't start playing on their own. • Mac: video no longer jumps back to the start when you go full screen, and the next video keeps playing in place instead of forcing full screen. • Plenty of other fixes and improvements under the hood to make iCloud sync faster and more reliable, along with podcasts and the new-items notification.

New • Set a custom playback speed for each feed. Handy when some podcasts or channels should run faster than others. • Flat can now skip sponsor segments in YouTube videos automatically, using the video's own chapter markers. Improvements • Busy feeds now stay in sync across your devices. An article you've read on one device still shows up on the others, even if it has already scrolled out of that fast-moving feed elsewhere, so nothing goes missing between your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. • The new-items pill is much more reliable: it only appears in your main Home stream, survives an app restart, and merges new articles instead of stacking up or re-counting. • Mac: a big round of performance work makes the feed list faster and smoother and lowers memory use. • Dimmed, already-seen articles now appear only in Home, not inside filters and timelines. • Podcasts: downloads resume after a force-quit with a visible "downloading" state, and the widget's progress ring is back. Fixes • Saved (stashed) articles no longer lose their mark during iCloud sync conflicts. • Mac: the window no longer pops open by itself when a background sync arrives. • Wide Mastodon and Bluesky posts no longer break the feed layout. • News posts now sort by their real publish time instead of landing in the middle of your timeline. • Podcasts: fixed a stale "now playing" in the car or on HomePod that offered the wrong episode. • Fixed a startup crash when debug logging was on, a black area behind Picture-in-Picture, and a scroll-position jump when new items loaded. • Plus more podcast and reliability fixes under the hood.

Fixes and improvements • Saved and queued YouTube videos that arrive from another device now show the channel name and channel image instead of a generic icon. • Invisible leftover copies that could pile up through iCloud sync are now cleaned up automatically. • Article images no longer fail to load when a site still offers outdated image variants. • Embedded Instagram reels are no longer cut off in the reader. • Text you have already typed in a sheet, for example when adding a feed, is no longer lost while feeds refresh in the background. • Mac: tapping the new-items pill now takes you to the line between new and older articles instead of jumping to the top of the list, and the new articles appear without the previous delay.
