1. 2/5Super weird bug happening

   I have grown accustomed to seeing this message that says something like, “JavaScript is not supported in this browser.” If I really wanted to know what was in that blank space on the screen, I open in Safari or something and there it is. I dug deep into phone and app settings and found no suggestions online that fixed it. They “browser” problem is really just specific to Feedly. Lately, some content is now showing up where it used to be blank, which would be an improvement—only now a finger swipe over that part of the page is being translated into a finger tap. A long 10-second freeze later, a random site opens up where the image of a purse or whatever can be purchased. Only I never tapped the image. Ugh. Been experimenting to make sure it wasn’t just my “technique.” Nope, it’s not me. And to make matters worse, Feedly then freezes entirely after that. I can’t open the next item in my feed unless I close and open the app entirely. It’s so weird and ridiculous. And I’m still seeing the “JavaScript not supported” message pretty often, so that problem is still there as well. Why can’t all this silliness be fixed once and for all?

2. 1/5Why?!? A huge step backwards.

   I use Feedly daily and have truly loved the app but these new UI changes are a HUGE step backwards. Amongst other problems the new layout renders a process that used to be more dynamic incredibly boring. On a phone it might not be so bad and probably makes a lot of sense, but the limitations on an iPad are pretty miserable. The randomness of layout and variation of image sizes used to give more of a magazine like reading experience and now what’s being presented has all the charisma of the results of a Google search. PLEASE undo this or give more options to return to what it was prior. Haven't given up on the app yet given how long I’ve truly enjoyed it BUT can’t imagine continuing to use it for too long in this form. Originally gave this a single star but am raising my rating slightly. I still don’t like the bulk of the changes in this new version but I do appreciate that the developer has given us the option to use what I think is a preferable UI in another app now called 'classic'. That said, I wish the new app had been something one opted into with the old one simply renamed rather than throwing users into something so different via an 'upgrade' like this. Moves like that always make me a little distrustful of developers and less likely to opt into in app purchases, etc. That said, the ability to download 'classic' addresses that distrust a bit.

3. 2/5If it ain’t broke...

   I have used and loved Feedly for years until the latest update, which overhauled the UI/UX. There were no prior notifications that this change was coming and no opt-in process. You will automatically get a completely new version of Feedly if you update. To add to the pain, there has been no change management or on-boarding for the new changes. Gestures and features I had been using for years were suddenly changed and switched around without explanation. I find swiping right for “Read Later” to be more inconvenient and visually jarring than long pressing. I wouldn’t mind so much if there were an option to customize this behavior, but there isn’t. The “truer” magazine style has been removed with equally sized cards providing a less interesting experience. The “hotness” count was removed as well, which I found to be a useful gauge. The “Today” default appears to now present content in waves that need be marked “Read” before seeing the next wave of articles. It’s strange and less fluid than the last version. Many customization options have been removed as well. Updates are great, but big changes should be introduced gracefully and incrementally over time, not all at once in a single forced update. The whole execution of this change was too rushed and the arrogant assumption that “old habits die hard” explains why we wouldn’t appreciate the update just rubs me the wrong way. I hope the developers learn an old tried and true lesson here. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

4. 2/5Accessibility and usability worsening

   I’ve used this app for years, and have hung on through a lot of updates, but this last update is awful. I don’t know if I can use Feedly anymore. The low-contrast, gray-on-white default is so, so hard to look at and use. “Night mode” does not improve accessibility, because the contrast of icons and text against the background is still ridiculously low. I know this is a trendy look, but it is extremely bad for UI accessibility. This isn’t trivial. Feedly is a reader app; the way it looks is absolutely essential to its function. Also, most of the controls and settings have moved around, in a way that makes them feel counterintuitive to use. To change things so drastically, without the option for the user to not use these changes or features, doesn’t make sense to me. I dislike the continuous scrolling feature, and prefer the ability to flip through pages. I wish there were a setting I could change to get that back. Although a lot of display options seem to have been added, I can’t find anything that will take me back to the usability of the old experience. Therefore, many of these updates feel like a real step backward. Anytime I open a full article in the browser and then go back to Feedly, Feedly loses its place and reloads all my articles, and I have to scroll through a bunch of stuff to try to get back to where I was. It didn’t do this before. Ugh. Also, now I find that frequently, when I try to open a full article in the browser, Feedly will send me to a page displaying only the header image, instead. Ugh ugh ugh. The only reason the app doesn’t get one star from me now is that it technically functions, and hasn’t force-closed on me yet.

   I cannot believe anyone could even like the new way that you set this up it’s awful I have been using your app since you first started I have always loved your app cannot believe that you changed it to this garbage it is complete utter garbage so glad that you still have the classic version it is very fortunate in my search for a new RSS reader I found that you had not totally give up on the old version I’m very happy and hope that you will keep old version around I don’t even see why people are even using this app it is on usable it’s worthless I do not like it at all and don’t understand why people would want you to change the best app for reading stories on the web I will definitely switch to Apple news or Flipboard before I ever use this app it is terrible Understand I very rarely ever review anything but I had to when you changed one of my go to favorite apps for years for total garbage. You should have made this a new app and seen how many ratings it got on its own to put it under all the good ratings of the old app is totally unfair I don’t understand what you guys are doing but if you continue on this path I am very scared that you’re going to go out of business when you’ve got something good why change it be like apple abandoning the iPhone for A piece of paper and a pen what you’re doing just makes absolutely no sense
