1. 4/54 stars only because the location is Horrendous!!🫣

   I would have given Family Dollar 5 stars but the location nearest to me is AWFUL, actually that’s a compliment. It’s so ran down and has been for going on 20 years now. The store has had ZERO updates & no renovations & is SUPER tiny. I understand they don’t own the building but after 20+ years in that location, don’t you think it’s time for them to get a newer, BIGGER location? There’s options for them in this neighborhood if they were interested. The store has even had to close in the past from being over ran with rats.. yes I said RATS! The grocery store they were connected too went out of business and left food behind & it became infested with rats. With nothing but a wall between them, of course they made there to FD as well. So not their fault at all! Now with all that said, they stay stocked the best they can when literally the whole store is only a couple hundred sq ft. They have a lot of variety and ALWAYS have what I’m looking for, when the other stores in the area just don’t. It helps a lot that the staff is friendly as well, I know they’re doing the best they can & I appreciate them for that!

2. 1/5New app scan tool is awful

   I only shop at family dollar for convenience of the location being near my home and I regularly used the scan tool to confirm mark off prices because my store has slackers, who don’t care about their job, barely do any work and will lie and even scam you if you aren’t able to prove they did it. The new scan tool doesn’t show the mark off prices like the last one did…. Definitely weird and gives that corporate is in cahoots with their ghetto employees who need training and restructuring. I scanned 4th of July glow sticks that were marked down to 1 cents and prepared to throw my kids a big glow in the dark party… when I got to the register, the cashier decided she was not going to sell them to me at 1 cents despite them ringing up as such and started scanning random items near her register. My calculated balance of $17 total which was a mix of about 22 glow sticks socks and underwear for my children was $50 plus and I was asking her why and she had an attitude…. And tried to make me the problem. So I required her to refund me, and of course she had trouble getting to the total since over half the items on my receipt were not even items I purchased. What she did was entirely illegal. The only way I have to prove it that day was the app scan tool which now is not accurate at all.

   I am visiting the Family Dollar app for the first time in years. I have been using the Dollar general app and now I see why I prefer DG instead of FD. In all of the years that I have not used the FD app, I was hoping that there was some improvement. The DG app is ultra convenient as it allows you to create a shopping LIST of the items that you intend to purchase at the store. When making your list, the DG app also applies all of the coupons that you have clipped and shows you exactly what you’ll be paying at the store. This feature is ultra convenient as times are hard and mostly everyone needs to stick to a certain budget. You’ll have no worries of being embarrassed at the checkout counter because you THOUGHT you’d be paying less for an item due to having a coupon, no thanks Family Dollar. I will stick with Dollar General. Please upgrade your app. Dollar Tree app is designed the same way as DG, and from my understanding Family Dollar and Dollar Tree are under the same umbrella. There is no reason for the Family Dollar app not to have more convenient features on their app. The only Pro of the Family Dollar is that it allows you to “unclip” coupons. Dollar General app does not allow you to unclip coupons if you find a better one.

4. 1/5Manager/ horrible worst of the worst.

   I have never in my life seen a manager act and do things the way this manager has at this family dollar on Vanborn Road in Dearborn Heights. She has screamed at customers she had the radio blaring so loud you couldn’t even talk to the clerk she said it was for loss prevention she screams and yells constantly, at her employees and people in front of customers. She is the rudest most unprofessional manager I have ever seen. I have been in management my whole life and if I treated my customers the way she has from day one she would’ve never made it ,if it wasn’t a convenient store for most people , They would most likely go to the other store on Vanborn which has always been great and because of her , they wouldn’t even go there. I have talked to several customers waiting in line or in the store regarding her actions. You really need need to do a survey on her and just see what you get you’ll be surprised. I also was having problems with my coupons being clipped because you have no Wi-Fi so do I double my work make a list and then go in there and buy what I need the last two times half of my clipped coupons did not come off my bill she said you never told me anything about it ,well when I did , while walking away from me she responds you said his nope we don’t have Wi-Fi and walked away. Sincerely A very unsatisfied customer . Believe me I spend enough money in that store to be treated better than how she treats people. I try my best not to go into that store any longer again sincerely unsatisfied very unsatisfied customer.

5. 5/5Best Family Dollar EVER!

   I have been shopping this store 2-3 times a week for several years. I had quit shopping here for a while because a new manager came in and on my first encounter with her, she accused me of stealing. I carry a messenger bag with me all the time. She told me I would have to take it back to my car or leave it with her. I told her the reason I don’t leave it in the car is the same reason she was so aggressive with her accusations, this is a rough neighborhood. She also told me she would NOT be responsible for it if I left it with her. Did I mention the messenger bag in question is a $2000 Louis Vuitton bag? This experience made me switch to another Family Dollar. I shopped that one for a few months until I walked in one day and there she was. She had transferred. I saw her and walked right back out. I can finally go back to MY store. It was a good day. Since then, everything has been perfect in my local store. I recently opened a business in the same shopping center so now we’re all neighbors. Jeffery is the greatest salesperson. He always warmly greets me and is the sole reason I have the Family Dollar app on my phone. I LOVE everyone employed at this location. Trista is fantastic. If these employees get any better, I might have to start recruiting. Of course then, that horrible woman might come back and I can’t have that. Looks like your employees are safe for now. I can’t say enough about this location. This group of employees truly makes my life easier and for that, I am eternally grateful. Keep up the good work East Ridge! Sincerely- Luke Stewart

   what's with the sale prices constantly ringing up incorrectly? Or not ringing up at all? I was in the store where a sign (and the app) said that the plant pots, outdoor decor, solar lights and garden supplies were bogo. So I put about 12 large pots in the cart. The employee wouldn't honor the app price or the in store sign (which was right above the pots I selected)!!! what's the deal family dollar???
