  1. 5/5Indispensable For New Yorkers & Tourists Alike

I’m a lifelong NYC resident and Exit Strategy is probably my most used and valued iPhone app of all. At subway stops with just one exit, it can save you time by identifying which subway car to be in so you’re closest to the exit when you reach that station. But where the app really shines is in the many stations that have two or more exits leading you to different places. Choosing the wrong one can waste a lot of time walking to where you actually need to be. Transferring between subway lines is also so much easier with Exit Strategy to guide where you need to be, which is not always readily apparent at the station. Even though I’ve lived in NYC all my life, his app has still saved me so much time over the years by giving me the info I need to be maximally efficient in my use of the subways. Plus the interface is completely intuitive and speedy to use. Also, if you’re coming into town as a tourist with the intention of riding the subways, I can’t recommend it any more highly. It will save you from many conversations asking for directions to take the best way out of a subway station.

  2. 5/5Must Have for Every New Yorker

This app is perfect for it’s simplicity, elegance, and no nonsense purpose. New Yorkers value their time; so many euphemisms exist about the relationship between NYC and time. This app not just honors those sentiments, it encourages and helps make the most of one’s time. Native New Yorkers know these exit locations by heart. And despite being a NYC resident for nearly 25 years, I have used this app for 17 of them to get place to place in the shortest time possible. In all that saved time, I haven’t come across a remotely comparable way to efficiently navigate one of the longest running mass-transit systems in the world. It’s a must have for anyone living or visiting the greatest city in the world - where it never sleeps, a minute is a lifetime, and making it there means unlimited success.

  3. 5/5Incredibly Useful!!!!

Worth every penny and truly made for New Yorkers and travelers! While the mta official app gives up to day changes, it’s so hard to quickly find information that’s immediately useful. I’ve been loyally using Exit Strategy for years now and it has never let me down. It allows you to prepare your next transfer/exit with ease down to the exact door. Do not hesitate to download this app. It will make you more efficient and less stressed about where to be and go. You don’t need to be an NYC subway expert to feel like one. Keep up the good work Exit Strategy! You are loved and appreciated!!!

  4. 5/5Best few bucks I’ve ever spent! The only app I’ve ever reviewed!

Such a great little app. Saves me a few minutes at least a few times each week (I use it anytime I take the train other than to and from work/home, since I have those train exits memorized, obviously). Put it all together and this thing has paid for itself a hundred times over. Honestly, no matter how little you value your time, this app will earn its minuscule, one-time price. Love it. Never written a review for an app, but I want to show my appreciation for this thing. Great idea, great execution - I’ve bought it for like 5 other people by now.

  5. 5/5Don't wait. Get this app NOW.

I've had this app for almost 20 years. Pretty sure it was the first app I ever paid for, on an iPod Touch around '07/'08. The description says it all. Don't wait. This is $4 VERY well spent. I'm a native NYer, but no one knows exactly where to stand for every possible exit at every station. Now you can. If you care about maximizing the efficiency of your commute, download this immediately. Honestly, they can/should charge more.

We're proud to introduce Exit Strategy NYC 2.0, rebuilt from the ground up with several exciting changes: ***COMPLETE COVERAGE - Exit information is now available for EVERY subway stop in NYC. ***THE OFFICIAL SUBWAY MAP licensed from the MTA. Not only that, but we've also included BUS MAPS for all five boroughs. ***COMPLETELY NEW INTERFACE - no more scrolling through long lists of stations to find the one you want. Just tap on the station on our new interactive map to figure out your exit strategy! (The old interface is still there if you prefer it) ***ENTER STRATEGY - We've also integrated the MTA's NEIGHBORHOOD MAPS which show you the immediate surroundings of each subway station. Specifically, they show where the staircases and elevators of each station are located at street level. We're calling it 'enter strategy'. ***MANHATTAN MAP - We've gone one step further. We've taken the MTA's 22 Manhattan neighborhood maps and we've WOVEN them together into a giant QUIILT-LIKE STREET MAP of Manhattan that works entirely offline. Have an address and can't remember which block it's on? Google maps won't work because you're underground with no reception? The MTA's maps have the address numbers of each block! We've also included the neighborhood maps for a few popular outer borough neighborhoods (Downtown Brooklyn, Park Slope, Williamsburg, Long Island City, Jackson Heights) Unfortunately due to memory constraints, we're not able to include every neighborhood in the city, although we have the immediate surroundings for all stations. We think you'll find 2.0 to be a very impressive upgrade, and we hope you tweet, blog, and tell all your friends about it! If you like Exit Strategy NYC please support us by adding an app store review. We'd be very appreciative and it will help us continue adding awesome new features.
