5/5Hands down best browser
Browser search results depend on more than your search terms. Companies buy premium placement so sometimes, no matter how you change your search, your first 100 (?) results will reflect who paid, not what is most accurate. There has been so much tweaking of search results to maximize profits that Internet results, to me, are nearly useless. If not for Ecosia, I would return to books. Ecosia provides not just more accurate search results, but the results list also pulls from the available sites, not just those which have paid to bother you, so that your results include results from smaller companies/websites/non-profits. Your results will be delightful again not grimly exhausting. There is so much garbage on the internet now - ‘articles’ which don’t answer a single question, ‘articles’ filled with so many other advertisements you’ll be lucky to read the results - that the internet has smothered itself. On the larger browsers, it is obnoxiously obvious that whatever you look at exists SOLELY to sell you other stuff. I’ve pulled up ten ‘articles’ in a row which were entirely useless per any definitive information but also so filled with popup ads running that I couldn’t have read it if I’d wanted to. It’s not that there are no popup ads attempting to direct you to other sites or ‘articles’ that clearly exist to direct you elsewhere on Ecosia, but I’ve yet to click on an article that I had to give up on in disgust.

5/5Save your future with this app!
What I can say about Ecosia is that it’s your normal browser app, it has a search bar, and you can search in it! I heard about this app the same way as you! On social media. And I wanted to download it because of its benefits. Something that you might have heard about Ecosia is that it doesn’t use AI, that isn’t true. Ecosia does use ai, BUT the ai that Ecosia uses, obtains its power from solar panels, which is renewable energy that won’t affect you and mine’s future. I’d say using Ecosia is far way better than using your fairly normal browser engines like the big G the apple S and the evil C, those use the type of AI that run on OUR water! Water that is undrinkable after going through the systems to cool them off. If you don’t like AI at all Ecosia has the option to turn off the AI engine that gives you the easy way to get your information. This will make you feel safer and conscious about not damaging more of the world for our future. Fun fact about Ecosia is that every search you make, plants a tree! If you look at Ecosia’s page on tik tok or I guess any social media page that you use, Ecosia posts videos about patches of land being updated with trees! So don’t be a jerk and download Ecosia! It will be better for the future and for the present!

5/5My best browser & search engine
I recently started using Ecosia as my go-to search engine, and I have to say, I’m really impressed. It’s not just another browser; it’s a tool that helps the planet while you surf the web. Every time I search for something, I know that my clicks are helping to plant trees around the world. That’s a pretty amazing feeling! The user experience is straightforward and user-friendly. I find that the search results are on par with what I get from other major search engines. Plus, the interface is clean, which makes it easy to navigate. I didn’t have to adjust much to get used to it, which is always a plus. What I love most is Ecosia’s commitment to transparency. They show you how many trees have been planted thanks to user searches, and you can track where the funds are going. It really feels good to be part of something bigger, especially when it comes to fighting climate change. Performance-wise, Ecosia does the job just fine. Pages load quickly, and I haven’t experienced any major issues while browsing. Sure, it might not have every single feature that some other browsers offer, but the fact that my searches contribute to reforestation projects makes it all worth it. Overall, I think Ecosia is a fantastic choice if you want to make a positive impact without changing your browsing habits too much. I’m excited to see how they grow and hope more people will join in supporting this green initiative. Let’s help Ecosia thrive—one search at a time!

1/5AI Slop
This has been my default web browser for many years on my phone because of the environmental impact, but also because of how easy it was to use. I was devastated when I started seeing an AI summary at the top of my search results. I can’t stand the AI nonsense that these search engines spew at you, not to mention the hypocrisy of being a web browser that supposedly benefits the environment and then counteracting all of that by adding AI features, features that seem to be unpopular with the user base anyway based off other reviews. I did find that I could turn off the AI summary, so that was at least helpful. However, the last straw for me was that every time I googled something, the first 2-3 pages of results would be full AI generated blog posts before I got close to anything remotely human. I asked other people in my life who use different browsers if they were having this issue, and they weren’t. I tested other browsers on my phone and lo and behold, the amount of AI generated websites that popped up were drastically decreased. I am not a negative person who complains a lot. I am pretty sure this is the first publicly available negative review I have ever made in my entire life, but I cannot stand the hypocrisy. I expect this type of stuff from huge companies, not from apps like this. I am going to immediately delete this browser and use other options, which makes me really sad but I can’t take it anymore.

1/5Used to be good
I love the goal of this browser, and I used to love the browser itself, but whatever changes have been made recently have made it nearly useless. The browser /used/ to produce useful results, but now it absolutely does /not/. It now shuffles results for some reason, which can make a nightmare out of finding specific sites more than once, and it’s rather insistently trying to push AI-based searching -though, in fairness, it keeps that in a separate tab as of the date of review. Most frustratingly, the search engine seems to only /sorta/ search according to my query, ignoring search operators and autocorrecting with no indication that it did so and without any option to un-autocorrect the search: If I search something like, say, ‘“seedless orange” stores near me’ with the intent of getting only results that include the phrase ‘seedless orange’, the results will /still/ include things like ‘seedless watermelon store’ and ‘orange paint store’. If I search something like ‘James Foxx’ (who doesn’t exist afaik) it’ll kick up like 3 results before filling basically every other result with links about actor /Jamie/ Foxx and I can’t find any way to undo this issue when it happens. I haven’t had these issues with any other search engine and, for the meager number of trees my searches are planting, I honestly believe at this point I’d be better off just throwing $20 at a reforestation charity or something.

Best Search engine and supports our planet/humanity. Keeps what makes sense like advanced search and not forcing languages you don't speak on you when you travel like chrome does. not littered with advertising and has a clean useful interface. More private than most. Fast and very reliable.

I've used this app for a very long time, but un-installed today. Issues with constantly having to "verify I'm human," then banking issues.
